Seems like Sly also ran away from his family to live his own life...

Sly AU where the Gang are a traveling vendor. They go to a huge trading market in Paris every year to sell items and knickknacks they've collected during their many roadtrips around the world.
Carmelita is a regular customer for the Gang, as her main hunt is for rare vinyl in good condition. And Sly always keeps his eye out for his favorite customers.
They got more than music. They got gloves custom tailored by Sly, fresh food from Murray (and free water), books of every language from Bentley, hand made jewelry from Australia, plane figurines from Holland, one of a kind paintings from a artist right in Paris, and fireworks straight from their own Chinese supplier.

Role Swap AU, in which Sly is the Brains, Murray the Thief, and you know what that makes Bentley?
The Brawn
Of course he's still a genius, it's just that his genius is focused on a mechanized suit
We've got another AU where the swaps are the other direction, and this one is as equally as fun to imagine.
Sly finally plan singular missions, but Murray can barely stay on track if he sees something shiny.
He prefers to get on the field immediately (unlike canon!Bentley) and get a feel of what's around him. Which means he's piggybacking Murray until the real mission occurs.
He's a more hands on worker, mapping and drawing up blueprints. When he was in the orphanage, his comfort was to meticulously jot down every hiding spot the gang could use to hide from Miss Puffin.
Murray is much bigger in size, but he still pees himself when Bentley runs in to a crowd of goons with the metal knuckles and baseball bat.
He's a hippo of deceit, he plays the stupid card to evade suspicion at first. But when his cover is blown, he'll easily cut his hair, change his contacts, swap some clothes. Murray can change identities much easier than Sly.
The cane in this AU could be a hammer of maybe even a fan! Get in some Sly4 stuff and make it a fan.
Murray trained his hands to maneuver a blade tipped fan to cut down enemies. The inclusion of abilities could be: air manipulation, scent pushing, face/voice masking, and the blades can be light aflame to burn items or rope!
Bentley is willing to break everything, but Sly gets a full read of enemies which makes the fights end too quickly to his liking.
Bentley was always interpreted to be the first of the gang to be orphaned (like literally before he even hatched). So his tough persona shines through from his early years protecting himself and others from bullies.
Being a small fighter, he doesn't utilize an honor system and bites and claws when desperate. It's caused issues where a fight got too bloody, but as long as it's not Bentley's blood, Murray and Sly will be okay.
His arsenal isn't anything fancy, a toolbox in the van consisting of average items like: razor blades, bats, golf clubs, metal knuckles, steel toe boots, crowbars, and knitting needles.
Murray, as the Thief in this AU, was part of a mixed criminal clan that used 1v1 to decide matters, killing was frowned upon. But that didn't stop a rival clan (with this universe's Clockwerk, would it be Raleigh or Muggshot?) from using a 1v1 to get their best fighters into the Hippo's home and storming it.
The fight killed a majority of his family, and Murray was taken by a family friend to the border of France and left for Interpol to find.
It was on this 8th birthday did a family member anonymously send him the family fan for his training to begin.
Sly was a kid of no known origin, only thing he came to the orphanage with as a baby was a note saying what his name was, a crumpled hat, and a soaked pipe.
He had a bit of a heavy smoking habit from his teen years, but Bentley got him to curb it. He still enjoys a small smoke from the pipe time to time.
The gang came together after a fight broke out at school, Sly and Murray witnessed Bentley getting over powered and tried to step in. Turns out Bentley was being meek for play and kicked everyone's butts.
He got in trouble, but Murray was intrigued with Bentley's fighting and asked if he could spar with him. The two still do it despite the massive size difference.
Sly got to be better buddies with Murray through their loss of parental figures, as the older he got, Sly started remembering little snips of his father. Nothing too firm, but the fact that he could at least hear one word in his dad's voice brought him to tears.
The three split the orphanage at 15, and their means of getting money was small jobs. And pickpocketing. Lots of pickpocketing.

Sly AU where the Gang decide to put up their thieving gear after defeating Clockwerk and head down to dainty Pelican Town. Apparently, some distant family of Murray's had died and he's the only living relative they can pass the farm onto.
Sly cares for the animals (and the chicken coop WITHOUT bomb toting roosters), Bentley manages the sales and crop formations, and Murray does the mining and baking for town functions.

So what are some standalone heist ideas you could see happen with that Standalone DLC idea? Though one idea I had rummaging around my head in generals for such a thing, was maybe that it’d be cool to see the follow ups to those Epilogues they’d have for the Villains…If that makes sense.
I got 1 (one) idea for a standalone DLC episode. Others might come to me soon.
I would call this episode, The Stockholm Spotlight.
A Musical episode where Don Octavio or a brand new villain is trying to keep a high-class audience captive during a musical to steal an artifact (music box) that has been secretly fueling the theater with a musical-type power. When the Gang and the Villain go toe to toe to steal it, the top of the music box breaks a screw and everyone is forced/hexed to sing until the gang can steal it and seal it shut. Maybe with super glue.
The level would be a three-section hub:
With a small outer area like the parking lot. Missions out there would be: -Bad Transportation: Finding the Baddies' cars to sabotage their getaway vehicles. -VIP Parking: Making access for Interpol to get in the theater. -Street Smarts: Grabbing makeshift material to use for the missions. -Staff Only: Stealing keys from goons to reach closed-off rooms inside.
An inner hub that is the venue of the theater with a concession stand/snack bar and backstage loop (think Rajan's Guest Palace but fully looped) Missions: - Pop and Rock: Using the snack bar to serve goons to gain quick coins. Depending on who you play as, the minigame will differ for what you serve. Bentley serves drinks Tapper-style, Sly will rush back and forth for the candy, and Murray will fill out popcorn orders (salty or sweet, butter no butter, small medium or large bag). - Stage Test: Using the keys gained to get into the control room and change up the stage's lights. - Security Breach: Go backstage and take out the "extras". - Escort Mission/Fetch Quest: Don a snack stand outfit and go into the audience to grab them snacks/drinks or safely escort them to the bathrooms without the goons catching you. - Emergency Exits: Get to the Backstage area and disengage the alarms.
And the last inner area is the stage where the Gang and Villain will have to enact their musical numbers. Because the music box can't be shut, it curses the Gang and Villain to take their fight to the stage in order to progress the heist. Missions: - Act One, The Hostage Situation: Start out on the stage and take on the Boss with a rhythm game to dodge attacks and use stage props to thin out his posse. - Act Two, Comeback Turnabout: Take control of the stage and time when you move the stage props to weaken the Boss before the Final Showdown. -Act Three, Operation Curtain Call: Get on the stage for the big finale! Take out the Boss with rhythm, prop destruction, and take a bow before making a getaway!
The Order of the Missions (with exception to Pop and Rock, which will be replayable for all phases with one mandatory mission) will be:
ACT ONE Staff Only | Street Smarts | Escort Misson/Fetch Quest | Act One, the Hostage Situation
ACT TWO Security Breach | Stage Test | Pop and Rock | Emergency Exits | Bad Transportation | Act Two, Comeback Turnabout ACT THREE VIP Parking | Act Three, Operation Curtain Call

Sly3 AU where Sly is put in a coma after taking the hit for Carmelita.
No cane to be placed and finding the leftovers of the Cooper Vault. No Constable Cooper mysteriously popping up in Interpol.
Just Carmelita (and the Gang) slipping in time to time to see if their ringtail ever wakes up.
