I juste wanted to Say that when we were watching Dead Boy Detectives Last night in the day it released the moment they used "She" for death he and I looked at each other with pure joy hoping to see Kirby Howell-Baptiste and the show delivered.

She is so perfect for the role, playing it with such kindness and compassion it's truly inspired casting and phenomenal acting I can't wait to see more of her in future Sandman episodes or in more Dead Boy Detectives.

Thanks for going for completely open casting it truly paid off (Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne and Jenna Coleman as Constantine are equally fantastic)!

Kirby is a wonder. As a person and as an actress.

hello i just watched Desd Boy Detectives (and LOVE IT) but there is something that has been eating away at me and i must ask (though i suspect the answer is no)

so it’s seen that the new DBD takes place in the same universe as the Sandman show, and of course as you are well aware both come from DC properties. in HBO’s Doom Patrol season 3 episode 3 titled “Dead Patrol” we meet the Dead Boy Detective Agency. Doom Patrol takes place in the same universe as another DC show called Titans, which follows Dick Grayson and depicts classic DC characters such as Batman and suchlike. so. i’m sure you can see what i’m getting at here:

Does Batman/Superman/etc. exist in the universe of the Sandman netflix show and has Dream met Batman? thank you for your time

When I was writing Sandman people would ask similar questions, and I would explain that the Sandman universe and the DC universe were contiguous, but it was a very long bus journey from one to the other, and you have to change buses several times.

For the Netflix Sandman question, perhaps the DC Comics multiverse idea is the best. There's a universe in which the Dead Boy Detectives exist and met the Doom Patrol and were younger and Edwin was blond. And that's the universe where Dream has met Batman, and the Martian Manhunter as well. And it has a John Constantine in it. And then there's the universe on Netflix with Joanna Constantine in it.

I don't think I pioneered it. I used it for Sandman, and I think if I stole it from anywhere it was James Branch Cabell's novel Jurgen.

Hi, Neil! I don't have a question. I just wanted to say that i just finished watching Dead Boys Detectives and I love it every second of it. I really hope it gets renewed otherwise I don't know how I'll keep living 😨

Tell everyone you know in real life to watch it. Tell everyone you know online. Remember that the first month is the most important and that completion rates are the statistic that Netflix cares about at least as much as viewing figures. Post things anywhere you can post things.

It's up to all of you whether it gets a second season (or a third).

Hello, Mr. Gaiman.

What do you think of Netflix reapetedly cancelling actual good fantasy shows and mass produce another dumb pieces of garbage with poorly written characters and a weak plot without any message which either nobody watches or a bunch of people watch and conclude they're worthless anyway. They clearly don't care about fine cinematography. I wouldn't want that to happen to any of your shows, don't you fear it?
