Ashton Greymoore with their hammer made from rocks in my collection. I used amethyst for their hair as is cannon, his slag glass filled head wound is represented here by labradorite, the dark green rock is malachite, next to it starting from the top is greenschist, green sapphire, copper and rhodochrosite. The left side is from the top slag formerly used as ship ballast, serpentine, chlorite garnet schist and chlorite schist. The hammer is made from a part of an orthoceratite fossil as the head and part of a crinoid stem fossil as the handle.

something about how certain individuals started shipping imogearne out of spite to "own" the imodna shippers but then when ashley basically went "no no, fearne actually does have concrete romantic feelings for imogen outside of flirting" they stopped and started calling it forced lmao

It occurs to me that Astrid and Eadwulf probably had suspicions that Caleb’s escape and reappearance was orchestrated by Trent as some sort of test for them.
Like, Astrid and Eadwulf lived another 11 years under Trent’s thumb knowing that Bren was languishing in Vergesson before the escape. Then he’s just gone. For all they know, Trent killed him or secreted him away or any number of terrible things available to an Archmage. They had no way of knowing. And then 5 years later, Bren Caleb reappears in Rexxentrum, wearing Kryn clothing, having saved the city from a strange cult, and he’s brokering peace with the Kryn Dynasty because he has connections there.
Did they think Bren had been sent deep undercover with a false name? That he was still taking orders from Trent and was trying to catch them in a moment of disloyalty? That his sad wet cat monologues were calculated, that the opposition to Trent at dinner was staged, that asking for help with Vergesson was a trap?
Even if he was a scapegoat, Adeen Tasithar was soon labeled as the traitor that sold the beacons to the Empire. Regardless of whether any Volstrucker thought he had been the one to do it, the Assembly had that much reach. The Archmages could get a spy into the Empire. Trent viewed Bren as one of his favorites, that is absolutely the insane sort of ploy he would be willing to do.
Astrid and Eadwulf aren’t dumb, of course. They wouldn’t jump to conclusions in their line of work. But that possibility probably occurred to them and was eventually disproven.
Damn, that would have terrifying to consider.

hope essek gets crushed with a boulder 15 seconds after he's introduced in the show and then all other possible screen time that could have been dedicated to him is replaced with yasha doing cool skateboard tricks

while i love Matt's DMing and his storytelling, how he allows his players to create truly wonderful and emotional moments, i have to say i love how @quiddie also creates those moments as well, how she constructs the skeleton and structure of them and how she puts the players into them, says feel this, hear it, this is happening, and then sits back and watches gleefully.

It’s bad enough that he has to have his arms covered. It’s worse that it doesn’t seem to do shit.
Eiselcross is fucking cold. Not the kind of cold they’re used to; the wind on a desert night or the damp of a winter rain that lingered too long in the hollow. This cold burrows into his flesh, even through his right arm which could barely feel anything anymore.
“You okay, buddy?” Dorian comes up beside them, perfect fucking hair somehow catching the wind just right to not blow into his face.
Ashton shook his head. “I’m not fucking built for this. Everything about me craves heat. I know we need to do it…” They glance at Orym, bundled in furs at the head of the group, moving steadily along one step at a time. “…but it fucking sucks. Fearne did a thing, but it wore off pretty quick, and I can’t just ask her to keep doing it. I mean, it’s fine; not really that much worse than the day-to-day, y’know.”
“You don’t need to play the tough guy act for me; I’m not cut out for this, either.” He stops abruptly, and Ashton comes to a stop beside him. “Thought I could try a thing, too.” The wind suddenly shifts, and it’s not quite warm, but certainly a little closer to comfortable. “I kind of feel bad that I can’t cover everyone with this but I should be able to keep it up for the two of us as long as you stay close.”
“I mean, Chet used to live in a place like this, Fearne’s half covered in fur and connected to the fire plane, and those two manage to keep each other warm, somehow.” He looks at Orym again but doesn’t need to say what they’re both thinking; that he won’t stop until it’s impossible to keep moving.

there's also the problem with pc bias too.
the mighty nein loved essek and didn't want to make him their enemy, so they rationalized they were hypocrites (wich imo didn't make sense and still doesn't to me) to give him a second chance. so fandom loves him! bell's hells has had damn near negative reasons to care about the vanguard asides imogen's mother being among their ranks and multiple of them have been directly traumatized by them or are distrustful despite being partially sympathetic. so they're hated.
never mind that essek literally handed over an innocent man to be jailed in perpetuity because he'd been brainwashed into thinking he caused the war, with only his word that he was a scumbag to the nein as proof that he "deserved" it. never mind that both orym and laudna felt utterly horrible about what they did to bor'dor and empathized with him after he died. if they're nice to the pcs then they're good and if they're mean to them they're evil. dnd is just a video game where you need to get the high score and beat the bad guys to win, right?
all this talk about liliana being iredeemable has got me thinking about how fandom instantly forgave essek for all he did
the way i got this ask right as i was talking to my friend about almost this exact topic (is that you, kea, or are we all just thinking it)
heres the thing, i get how someone at a superficial level could justify seperating essek from others like himself; hes had among the most screentime. but, and i say this as someone who adores essek, that's.... really the only true leg up he has on others manipulated by ludinus/others against the gods, and it's very easy to notice the discrepancy. i genuinely do not think his story is somehow more valid or compelling than any other in similar shoes; most of them have an extremely close connection to a main character or are one, and they all had or have a chance at hope, to me. i once saw a post that snarked at anyone who would dare to say essek was priveleged and that that's why folk liked him, but, in a way he is: he's a rich man who looks it and is defined in his first moments by his handsomeness. during campaign 2 people wanted astrid gone and assumed she was as villainous as trent when she was essek's exact mirror but on the empire side, just a woman, and "in the way" of shadowgast. when liliana (woman, technically disabled, implied lower class), bor'dor (extremely lower class, man of color), deanna (black woman), frida (played by a man of color, of an oppressed class), & even, i will assume in the future, devexian (ultimate representative of a lower worker class oppressed people), have extremely similar stories or frankly far more valid reasons to be cautious about a god than essek, they're seen as entirely villainous with no possible redeeming quality or point, and are treated with immense scorn. meanwhile when essek starts a war by ensuring his culture's religion cannot be whole, he can easily be accepted by the fanbase, who even lambast the dynasty for daring to have a religion; thus, by their own logic, they are fully agreeing with ludinus (i am well aware of the intricacies of how the dynasty fucks up but, put this into the broader context here compared to how vasselheim is treated).
which is another reason im excited for the aeor arc; it is easy to assume essek will be there, and it will be interesting to see how his extremely blunt, delightedly-smug distaste for godhood (especially the luxon, which, didnt kill aeor like the pantheon did and is innocent in that) is framed in c3's context, and how fans respond to that. will it be entirely glossed over as people seemed to gloss over keyleth's distaste for them? will it be excused because it's cute when a man they see as a twink does it?
