The hard side of Rescue is that sometimes you are too late.
Fellow Rescues will understand this pain but today we were called out to a hoarding situation in Kanto; 323 Magikarp were removed and despite our team's best efforts. only 273 survived the first week. Most of them are now in Re-adoption but 7 of them will be joining our rescue due to disabilities. Those who had lost their lives have been buried and apologized to, We wish we could of saved more but we hope they rest easily.

Dobr媒 den!
I'm Alma Zvjezdana ( but please just call me Alma!) and I am the new Social media manager for the rescue! Miss Viv hired me because she said I'm a pretty Sweet person! I go by She / Her and I really like this job so far ^.^
Tumblr media
[Mun notes! I do not personally know the Czech language! The character herself is Czech! Also, The art will be (eventually) redone but for now it's a Picrew! This is the link to the Picrew used; 銇熴倗閷垚锝淧icrew ]

Rescues of the month!
Good rescue of the month: Penny! Was very patient with children this month! Even let one lucky kiddo pet her! Naughty rescue of the month: Finn!
Splashed every single worker. several times! Even splashed a few guests when they got too close to the tanks.

So, had a 'Karp swimming around in my pond. Didn't officially belong to anyone, but was still a very well-behaved pokemon who loved flopping onto laps for a cuddle.
We had a wild Mightyena pack try to break into the Mareep pen for a quick meal.
Guess who decided evolving was the best way to deal with them?
Good news: Still very gentle, even let some of the youngsters use him as a jungle gym.
Bad news: Doesn't seem to realize he's 20 feet longer and 500 pounds heavier.
Don't wanna re-home such an effective guard 'Mon, but also don't fancy getting flattend.
Any advice?
Well, they sound like a sweet baby!
For the cuddling behavior, sit on the floor with them and show them to curl and place like this image of me and Penny.
[Attached is a image, Penny is loosely curled around vivianne who is sitting cross legged, the large mon carefully resting her head in their lap.]
Once they master this, move to teaching them to lay their head on your lap in chairs! The easiest way to train them is with treats and a word command.
For example, singular words such as 'cuddle' will help the mon understand easier :)

Why have a bunch of Pok茅mon if you鈥檙e not even gonna let them battle? Battling is the best enrichment any pokemon could ask for, honestly, you鈥檙e neglecting your Gyrados by not allowing trainer battles.
Key words 'Rescue and Rehab'.
The Gyarados here are here to live their best lives not to fight or level up or anything like that. They have battle toys to fulfil that want to battle however you must remember we take in traumatised Pok茅mon. Which is why we won't allow breeding or battling of ANY of our pokemon
For example, Skully was in an illegal battling ring, he's lost most of his face and needs specialised care he has alot of trauma from that.
And Penny was in a shiny farm for apparently 7 years. She never got to see her babies especially if they were 'shiny' because they were the first to be taken from her and has trauma from that.
They have huge ponds, hand built and designed with their comfort in mind, hundreds of toys and all the love that can be given.
They aren't to be battled. They aren't to be bred.
They are here to be loved and given the best lives they can be given.

This is why gyarados should be put down, skully attacked you and is obviously a danger to all
We are not putting skully down.
If you even LOOKED at his rehab story you would understand why he attacked.
Skully is a ex-fighting pokemon, he had most of his face ripped off in illegal battles. He is traumatised.
When that person tried to battle him, it caused his traumatic response. He is a living creature and most likely thought he was going to be killed by the other pokemon.
Yes, he shouldn't of attacked but that is something he is still unlearning, i cannot stress this enough that he has deep rooted trauma.
He feels guilty, as soon as he realised that he had hurt me he curled up in a ball. He thinks I'm going to harm him (which would NEVER happen) because that is what people in the past have done.
Hes scared and hurting be nice.

To add onto this rule, if you try to BATTLE the rescue pokemon you will be escorted out and banned.
Someone tried to fight Skully during the workshop and caused him to freak out and almost struck at a trainer.
These pokemon have trauma. They are NOT to be battled. Luckily I took the blow from his traumatic response before anyone got hurt. The authorities were contacted on the trainer who tried to battle Skully.
[Theres a image, Skully is curled up in a very tight ball; clearly distressed as Vivianne pets him, there is a thick and bloody bandage on her arm.]
Okay everyone. New rule;
If you (as a individual or as a evil team) attempt to steal ANY of our pokemon for the purposes of 'the perfect killing machine' as one person said, you will take a hyperbeam, x scissor, leaf storm, fire fang, Dig and play rough combo from the owner's team.
If you are a evil or reformed evil team and just come in to see the pokemon, you are still welcome to. Please just read the warning above because it has happened four times since we opened in december. We dont care if you think skully would make 'the perfect evil pokemon' This is a rehab and rescue.
Thank you.

Bubby's Story
Bubby was surrendered by a kind samaritain who found him; either through injury, abuse or stress induced over grooming, Bubby has no bristles / 'fur' which is necessary for Crowen Gyarados to sense the waters for any danger.
Bubby was very agressive when he came into the rehab due to not having his bristles which was painfull for him and caused a high amount of stress. He was quick to relax when given Gyarados safe pain killers and antibiotics to fight any infections.
Bubby is still very shy of humans but when visited may swim over to sniff at people. Do not worry about biting as Bubby is non violent and will swim and hide away if he is scared by something.
If you cannot see Bubby, he is most likely hiding in his tunnel; we ask you to not attempt to look into said tunnel as he is trying to be out of sight and needs his privacy so he can feel safe.

Indeed they are but stigma is seen in all pokemon sadly and it is why rescues are incredibly important.
Also, even if it is informal, Skully says hello!
[Theres a image attached, the ex-fighting rescue is curiously sniffing the camera]
Crowen Fins Rescue and Rehab : Image delivery service.
Greetings, Mr.Hassel! One of your students asked for us to send you some of our post cards for the upcoming new year!
We hope you enjoy the postcards! -@crowen-fins-rescue
[There are 4 post cards, one is of Skully holding a toothbrush in his jaws with a derpy look, another is of a scenic image of all the Gyarados and Magikarp ponds, another post card shows wild Crowen Gyarados being released back into the wild and the last one is just the Crowen fins logo.]
Ooh I love all of these! I should put Skully's somewhere. Maybe on the fridge...
Such a shame people are so cruel to Magikarp and Gyarados nowadays... they're actually a great source of folklore!

[Theres a image of a Crowen gyarados that is missing a large amount of it's bristles, its unclear if they were cut off or were lost in a fight / accident. The Gyarados is visibly scared as it bites at Vivianne's protected arm]
Poor baby :( it looks like someone cut off their bristles. This is heartbreaking. Who would do this to such a kind and trusting pokemon? Look at him, hes now so overstimulated from possible pain that hes just blindly attacking to try and make the pain stop :( poor baby

Harper's story
Harper was dropped off by an anonymous person via pelliper mail, she was very skittish at first and kept splashing at me whenever I got close to the quarantine tank she was in.
It took a while for her to calm down, having to be soothed via suckling (a natural soothing method where a younger magikarp harmlessly suckles on it parent's fins to help itself feel safe) which ended up bruising my fingers but its a small price to pay for a pokemon's comfort.
Harper is still getting used to people, now in Penny's enclosure as another new baby.
If Harper splashes you, please dont take offence! She is only a baby and is still quite nervous.
