  “I wasn’t.” Klaus says, still not entirely present in his conversation with Five. His mind is still wracked, distraught; b r o k e n over what happened.                  Dave…          gun fire….     blood…

Number four closes his eyes tightly against the images that bombard his brain; too much too quickly. He drags both hands over his face in an attempt to ground himself and when that doesn’t work he finds his brown patched fur lined jacket sitting across the room and lifts himself from his bed to reach it. “Look, if you don’t mind - I’m really not up for conversation right now.” His tone is dismissive; detached. Five might mean well ( though it’s more likely got to do with his mission to ‘save the world’ - but what does Klaus care about that right now? HIS world is already gone, stolen from him ) but he doesn’t care about what his brother means to do, he just wants to numb the pain, stop feeling; stop hurting.

           Absently number four’s slender digits dig through his pockets and a small wave of relief washes over him when he finds a left over baggie of something hiding inside. Klaus damn near takes the entire thing - well aware that many pills could very well lead to another overdose, but again; he doesn’t quite care. So instead he lets fate decide and when she deals him three little heavenly doses of pain relief he swallows them easily, head falling forward just afterward - his mind heavy with trauma, desperate for the bliss that will wash over him in a few dozen minutes.

         “Christ on a cracker, Nance!” Number four pipes, jade hues wide with shock as he grasps his chest with both hands. He’s skulking around of course, checking for things that daddy dearest won’t notice have gone missing. He needs money; anything to fund his habit - the only thing that keeps the howling spirits at bay. “I..” He begins, mischief sparking in each eye. “Am on a scavenger hunt.” He grins, offering a raise of his brows. He knows Nancy won’t rat him out - but he’d rather his siblings didn’t know all the same, it’s far easier to say you don’t know anything when you’re being interrogated if you truly don’t. “Better question; what are you doing skulking around at this hour? reverse [ teach ] from Klaus to Dave!

         An easy smile falls over the other man’s lips, both brows drawn together as if to say how is it possible you don’t know how to hold a gun? The amount of surprises Dave continues to learn about Klaus is astounding, baffling too - but the military man likes that surprise, the aspect of unknown that comes with being around Klaus. He never quite knows what is going to come out of the other’s mouth and it leaves Dave with a hunger, a desire to stick by his side and keep him company. Safe to say the soldier likes Klaus a lot; quite a bit more than he should given their circumstance.

           “No, no, no,” a laugh. “C’mere - like this.” He says, placing the rifle in the crevice of the Hargreeves armpit. “You hold it against your shoulder and the kick backs gonna dislocate it faster than you can blink.” He smiles again, baby blue hues catching Klaus’ gaze. “Yeah, just like that. Good. Alright - now let’s see you hit some targets, soldier.” Dave offers, gesturing toward the shooting range. @lcokingfortrouble from some meme

         A whine, something akin to awh escapes Klaus’ lips as he places a palm to his chest, lips turned down in a frown as both cheeks pull upward in a you shouldn’t have gesture. “That - that is so sweet, Diego.” He reaches out with his other hand and grips his brothers bicep, jostling him for a second. “If I knew drinking made you a sap I would have started spiking your protein shakes years ago!” A giggle passes through his lips and both hands fall into the Hargreeves lap. It’s not often the family gets together, and truly this is a special occasion - one Klaus wouldn’t have missed for the world.

       Most of the gang was there anyway, Diego, Vanya - Klaus had gotten wind of it of course, hard to get an invitation when you don’t have a fixed address. But there was one person missing, LUTHER - had he chosen not to come? Or had Allison simply forgot to send him an invite? Klaus wasn’t about to bring it up of course, he was too busy enjoying this quality moment with his brother - had to keep Diego in sight after all; he was his ride home.@musesofthecosmos from some meme
