Fresh Start
Aang offers to tidy up the unruly mess that Azula has made of her hair three days after they've been on the road as a silent, tense, unit.
The others are off tending to the camp when he approaches her.
"Uhm...you know...I could maybe...even out your hair for you, if you'd like? It cut pretty messily when you sliced off your topknot...you don't -- have to keep it that way."
Azula turns to look at him, searching his face, looking for any signs of ill intention. As per usual, she can't really find any. The ever-present mischievous gleam in his eye is gone too, replaced with sincerity. She turns away again, looking at her dull reflection in the stream she'd gone to kneel beside. Her hair is lopsided, bedraggled. She hasn't run a comb through it since she'd chopped it off in the ceremony which had severed her ties with the Fire Nation.
She looks down at her hands where they're curled loosely in her lap.
"Fine," she says. The word burns in her throat like an ember.
He leads her away from the stream and out to a large, isolated, cherry tree in the middle of the meadow where they've decided to land for the night. Azula can feel the eyes of the waterbender burning into her back as she follows the Avatar away from the group.
She ignores it. What is she going to do in full sight of the entire camp anyway?
The Avatar cuts away the rest of her hair in silence.
His lemur has followed them, and curled up to sleep in a sunspot. The creature seems peaceful, and she finds herself staring at him as Aang snip, snip, snips his way across the edges of her once proud mane.
When he's done, he brushes the few strands that remain settled against her neck, tickling the skin, away. His hand is warm and calloused. She feels the prickle of gooseflesh at the casual touch.
"Better?" he asks, voice quiet.
It is, but Azula doesn't answer.

Rituals
I came up with another Azula nightmare fic. :'D Well, "nightmare." *evil laugh*
~~~~
Azula woke up in her bed. She sat up, ignoring the persistent radiating ache in her lower back. She spotted a wheel chair sitting across from her, in it was her brother, Zuko. He was looking at her with a dull expression. He doesn't talk much nowadays. For a second, she's shocked to see him like that, but distantly, she remembers. The agni kai, right. She smirks a little, about to remark that she hit him in the chest, the Dum Dum, only to stop herself. The rules, right.
Rule number 1- Zuko is wheelchair bound, if it walks, it is not Zuko. Do not look it in the eyes, tell it to leave immediately. And leave, if it does not.
This Zuko is sitting in the wheelchair, looking at her. Azula slips on her robes and gets out of bed. She steps closer to him, trying to gauge the scent wafting off of him. It was vanilla.
Rule number 2- Zuko smells like cinnamon and burnt flesh, anything else is not him. If it smells wrong, dump It on the floor and leave it there.
Frowning, she grabbed the wheelchair and dumped it on the ground. It made a slight ‘oof’ as it hit the floor. She scoffed as she left her bed chamber, seeing Zuko sitting in his wheelchair outside her room. He smelled like cinnamon and burnt flesh. She grinned at him, pinching his cheek before wheeling him into the kitchen. He stares at her the whole time. There was no one in the palace, she had banished everyone. Even the royal physician, which was why Zuko couldn’t move anymore. When she reached the kitchen, there were some sweet rolls on a table, still steaming. She poked them with her sharpened nails.
Rule number 3- Check any food, make sure it is not rotting flesh.
Satisfied that it was food, she grabbed one and ate it. It wasn’t her first choice, but it was there. She fed the other one to Zuko. With some prodding, he ate it. That was another thing, he couldn’t move, so she had to feed him.
She sat down next to him, he stared at her. Going over the rules in her head, she knew what she’d have to do next. She didn’t want to, but she had to. She came up with those rules from personal experience, kept repeating them over and over in her head to make sure they stuck. Azula had tried to write them down, but nothing outside her own mind ever stuck. She got up, taking a breath and pushing Zuko along. It was time to check the garden.
As she walked, she spotted a figure in an orange robe along her peripheral. She kept going, ignoring it as it grinned at her.
Rule number 4- Don’t speak to the Air Nomads, they have nothing good to say.
Azula parked Zuko to the side as she walked up to the gardens. There were four graves, one for Mai, one for Ty Lee, one for that waterbender, and one for Mother. She didn't think about Iroh. Three were filled up with dirt. She sighed.
Rule number 5- Make sure to check the graves, sometimes they are empty.
Yes, certainly, it was traditional to cremate in the Fire Nation, but that brought her to the next rule.
Rule number 6- Cremation is useless.
She stomped back over to Zuko, forcing the memory of how she came to know that rule out of her mind. Zuzu looked at her as she pushed him along again. With the graves, the best she could hope for is to kick it back into it’s hole and hope it doesn’t get back out.
“Looks like mother’s having a stroll, Zuzu.” She croaked, her voice having gone unused for so long. Zuko didn’t respond, he never did. In fact, the only thing that let her know he was even still alive was his rasping breath.
She thought about what to do. Zuko was useless, the palace was empty, the Avatar… Well, she’d asked him for his help once before. A time when all of the graves had been empty and Zuko just kept walking everywhere. She’d managed to find the boy, locked away. He looked at her with that wide grin that all Air Nomads had now. When Azula demanded that he help her, he responded by clacking his teeth louder and louder until her ears bled. Which lead her to the next rule.
Rule number 7- The Avatar won’t help.
She could always try and send for Father… No, no she couldn’t. He left the Fire Nation in her hands, he trusted her to handle all of this. She couldn’t just betray the man’s trust like that. He believed in her, she just couldn’t show him he was wrong for doing so.
She rubbed her temples, trying to stem the headache that was forming. Azula took a deep breath, tapping her foot. Zuko was looking behind her.
“Tired of looking at me, Zuzu?”
No response.
“You know, I hit you in the chest, not the head, Dum Dum. I know you can hear me. I know you can talk.” Azula said, biting off an annoyance in her cracking voice.
Zuko just looked behind her, silent and expressionless as ever.
Azula sneered, finally having had enough. She called forth her brilliant blue fire to her palms. “Shall I make both sides of your face match, Zuzu?”
“Behind you.” Zuko croaked.
It was was far too late that Azula finally noticed the acrid smell of rot closing in behind her. She didn’t even get a chance to turn around before cold, clammy hands grasped onto her shoulders, her fire snuffing out immediately. Her arms fell to her sides, she gazed at her brother, wide-eyed. Zuko was now staring at her, the reflection of their rotted mother in his glassy eyes. Something wet clamped onto her head, an intense crushing pain and a loud crunch being all there was before everything cut out.
~x~
Azula awoke in her bed.
Rule number 8- Always pay attention to Zuko.
Tumblr media
Activities - What do they enjoy doing with you?
Azula doesn’t really mind what you do. She says it’s because as long as you’re happy, she’s happy. In reality, she doesn’t really know a lot of “normal” activities to do with people so she’d rather you take the lead.
Body - What is their favourite part of you?
Likes your hands. She thinks they’re a good demonstrator of someone’s strength and she enjoys bending your fingers and watching them move.
Cuddles - Are they a cuddly person?
Not a huge fan of physical affection but will humour you occasionally if you want to hug her. She doesn't really know what to do with her arms so hugs may feel awkwards until she warms up to them.
Dates - Where are they taking you on dates?
Much like just doing things with you, Azula doesn't really know many “normal” date ideas. She’s happy to leave that up to you, otherwise you’d be destroying enemy battleships for a date.
Emotions - How in touch are they with their emotions?
Azula’s got a complicated relationship with emotions. She allows herself to feel all of her emotions freely but still struggles with more sentimental emotions such as affection or genuine care. It might take her a while to figure those ones out properly.
Future - What future are they picturing with you?
Definitely sees herself staying with you long term, even considering marriage. Once she chooses someone to be with seriously, she sticks with them. Together, you will rule the Fire Nation and topple every other nation on the planet! You will be unstoppable!
Gifts - Are they a gift giver?
Azula has plenty of money to spend so she loves giving you gifts. They’ll always be things you’ve mentioned wanting as well, so Azula’s definitely a great gift giver.
Holding - How do they like to hold you?
As mentioned before, Azula’s not super comfortable with physical affection. If anything, she would probably prefer sitting with you, backs pressed together. It’s a display of trust as well as something she finds relaxing.
Injury - How do they react when you're injured?
If someone has hurt you, she’s going after them with both threats of physical violence and the destruction of their social status. If it’s a minor injury she’ll laugh it off with you before getting one of her servants to patch you up.
Jealousy - Do they get jealous?
Azula’s definitely prone to jealousy, however she’s also more than well equipped to deal with anyone who is foolish enough to try their luck stealing away the partner of the princess of the Fire Nation. You may have to prevent her from going overboard though.
Kisses - What are their favourite types of kisses?
Likes back of the hand kisses, both giving and receiving. She feels they’re befitting of her status and they’re something you can do in public without being indecent.
Love - Who says "I love you" first?
I think you would say those three words first but Azlua probably wouldn’t be far behind. She knows how she feels about you, it’s just a matter of figuring out how to tell you.
Memory - What is their favourite memory with you?
Azula’s favourite memory with you probably involves fighting. Whether it’s a bar fight, a confrontation with the Avatar, quashing your enemies, or even just sparing together, Azula likes fighting side by side with you.
Nicknames - What nicknames do they give you?
I don’t see Azula as someone who uses nicknames a whole lot. She much prefers using your actual name.
Obvious - Are they obvious in their affection?
Decently good at concealing her feelings, especially when she’s in public. However the more you get to know her, the more you’re able to see the signs and read her emotions.
PDA - Are they a fan of PDA?
Azula’s not a huge fan of PDA, more because of her status as the princess of the Fire Nation. She’s got a reputation to uphold. She’s also not eager to let her enemies know she has a weak spot when it comes to you.
Quirks - What are some of their quirks?
Azula enjoys practising with her flames when she’s bored. Often she’ll ask you to name animals or objects and try to recreate them with her flames.
Romance - Are they romantic?
Romantic but in her own unique way. If you find it romantic when people tell you they would kill thousands for you, you’re in luck.
Secrets - Do they keep secrets from you?
Has a tendency to keep secrets from you but that is more a habit formed by her position than her actually wanting to hide things from you. Any secrets she keeps are all about military secrets anyway.
Talking - What do they like talking to you about?
Honestly, Azula prefers listening to you than talking. She likes hearing about what you’ve done that day since it’s always so different from her life.
Understanding - How understanding are they?
Azula’s not great at understanding others, especially when they’re different from her. She will try but it might take a while for her to get the hang of it. Until then, clear communication is key.
Value - What do they value most about you?
Your willingness to be with her despite all her shortfallings. As set in her way as she is, Azula knows she sometimes isn’t the best person and she’s grateful you’re willing to put all that aside and care for her regardless.
Wild Card - What's a random headcanon about the character?
Azula has a habit of chewing on her lip when she’s thinking. Sometimes it gets bad enough that she will make her lips bleed. She’ll be grateful if you point out when she’s doing it before it gets to that stage.
X-Ray - How easily can they read your emotions?
Can usually tell how you’re feeling but struggles to understand why you’re feeling that way or empathising with you if it doesn’t align with her emotions.
Yearning - How do they handle being away from you?
Handles being away from you well since she’s used to travelling without friends or family. She does enjoy your company when you’re reunited however.
Zen - How easily do they relax around you?
Doesn’t find it particularly easy to relax regardless of who’s around. But externally, she gives off the impression of being relaxed. After a while of getting to know you, she will begin to truly relax.
Azula x reader: baby steps
Summary: even azula is capable of learning such a soft thing. Here's her starting to slowly do it♡
Warning(s): kinda sad but fluff, insecurity, no words spoken except once (is that even a warning idk) hand holding(the horror/j)
It's short and sweet I hope
Getting back to writing for azula before a request! Tell me If I made any mistakes please
Gentle isn't in Azulas dictionary
She is not known for such a thing.
"Showing anything gentle is weak. It won't bring anything to being the Fire Lord so why bother with something so useless" she always sneered
That was always her go to excuse for why she isn't gentle with anything or anyone. Gentle will never help anyone achieve anything- how did her father get to where he is today? By being nice and gentle? Fat chance.
Gentle is usless
Unimportant
But Azula is well aware of how gentle it is good at the same time. She sees it when her mother treats her brother with the love and affection she so desperately needs but will never admit. She sees it everywhere she goes, so why is it so different for her? Azula would love to put the silent blame on her father for yet again ruining what she craved, but she knows - even though he helped with her mindset. Azula herself is to blame for her harsh borderline sadistic treatment of others so one thing is for sure-
She doesn't know how to be gentle.
Doesn't know how to be genuinely kind to anyone. She was taught at a young age to be a fighter - a warrior. Someone to be the future Fire Lord - she never saw a reason to learn how to - even years later, of realizing what she really wanted - needed. She didn't deserve it anyways- but then she met someone who showed that even she deserved to be loved.
You-
You were never afraid to just hold her hand- speak such kind words even ignoring how she complained how cheesy you were. How idiotic it all was.
Why bother to show her such a thing? Why does it make her feel good? Like she's needed. Like you genuinely want her- not the Princess. But Azula herself.
Deep down her biggest fear is something she knows shes not. She isn't her father- she would never hurt you or do anything to make that thought a reality. She has the misfortune of inheriting her fathers temper among other things. The day she realized how much she loves you was also the day she made a pledge- to never get mad at you- which also meant to never burn you. She wasn't her father who burned his son. But she dreads the day her nightmare may become a reality.
Months into the relationship and she never made a move to hold your hand much less hug you- she didn't know how to do it really. Only times she's hugged anyone was when Ty Lee jumped on her to hug her or you did. But never once did Azula herself do it. But she knew at some point she'd need to at least attempt it.
So she will. This is Azula she can do this- can do anything.
-
Sitting beside you in her room - one of the hourly reading moments you do to 'pass the time' or whatever but insist on spending time with Azula still. She just chalked it up to it being something weird only you would do. Playing with the crown in her, she waited for her moment silently. Eyeing your hand while trying to be secretive about it- it failed. You saw how antsy she was getting- how she was staring at your hand the past week like it was gonna grow wings and fly away- or as her brother stated be burnt to a crisp by how intently she stared
You let your hand fall beside you- holding the book in one hand trying not to obvious on how you were watching her. Seeing her hand slowly move the crown down and inch towards your hand- you knew you made the right choice.
Azula's heart pounded- it wasn't anything big or world shattering by any means- but to her- to Azula this was a big step in the direction she wanted. To be able to gently hold you. She just needed to work on baby steps annoyingly.
She flinched as her fingers touched your hand- frozen in a silent thought before slowly covering your hand with hers. Softly covering your hand as if she was afraid to break it- slowly she breathed out in relief.
The two of you sat in her bed- you reading(not) and her siting happily holding your hand. Finally working the courage to do something she's been wanting to do on her own since the beginning of your relationship.
“My Princess” - Azula x reader
[masterlist]
Azula x gn reader, oneshot, no warnings
876 words, please let me know if there are any mistakes, have fun :)
“Why are we moving so slow? I could w a l k faster than this ship is driving.” For the fifth time today, you assured Princess Azula that the ship was at maximum speed and it was one of the fastest ones in the entire fire navy. If it was someone else than her, you would have been annoyed a long time ago and told her to be quiet, but in this situation you were happy that she didn’t unleash her discontent in a different way than complaining. You had never met her before, but you had heard stories about those who didn’t live up to her expectations, and you did not want to experience those things yourself, to say the least.
Keep reading
How about azula realizing she really likes the reader after they take a life-threatening injury for her?? Love me some angst
Fiery Care - Azula x Reader os
[masterlist]
Azula x gn reader, tw: blood, heavy injury
1.340 words, please tell me if you find any mistakes!
I hope I got the request right, enjoy :)
No-one had prepared you for this. Rocks were being thrown at you by an earthbender, accompanied by the combined magic of a waterbender, the treacherous, disgraced prince, some incompetent boy with a sword and the Avatar himself.
You had trained firebending a lot, because, even considering that you were born into them, one only got accepted in the upper circles of the fire nation if one was a good fighter, but normally you were kept far away from any actual, real fights by your family, as they valued you - or rather your appearance; they wouldn't want their "little prodigy" to enter the service under the fire lord with any "flaws" that originated from missteps in battles.
However, you had insisted on taking part in this battle for a very special reason.
< • ◇ • >
A few hours earlier:
Azula walked, or rather marched, through the courtyard, straight towards you. That was a very rare sight and an unnerving one too, as you had long been plagued by strong unrequited feelings towards the princess. You quickly arranged your armour to look even more orderly and clean than it already was, acting with a nervousness and anticipation that would have told anyone who saw you that it was not just, like with anyone else, fear, that Azula ignited in you, but also some much warmer feelings.
Well, it might have told anyone, but Azula wasn't anyone, was she?
Her two friends who always escorted her probably knew, but that was no matter to worry about as they seemed pretty reasonable and pitied you, because of your feelings, to a degree at which they didn't feel the need to worsen your emotional state anymore by telling Azula about your feelings.
Now Azula stopped pretty close in front of you - she could probably feel the heat your reddened face emitted, but she did not seem to care.
"Y/N. Our scouts have tracked down the Avatar. We will leave in a few minutes to confront him and his companions. Father says it would be a good first fight for you, but honestly I don't care wether you accompany us as it likely won't make any difference. So you can stay here if you want to."
With much more energy than fitting you immediately responded that there could be nothing more delightful for you than joining her in battle. Ty Lee grinned at you from behind Azula, making you blush even harder.
Azula seemed unimpressed at your enthusiasm, but you didn't care. What mattered was that you would be close to her - or at least closer to her than normally - for a little while.
Also, you should be able to convince your parents to let you go if you mentioned that the fire lord himself thought that it was a good idea.
< • ◇ • >
Well, maybe the reason you took part in the battle wasn't even that special. You wanted to impress Azula, that was about it. A pretty dumb thought, if you thought about it - she was more or less infallible, how was one, especially you, to impress her?
However, there was not much time to think about such matters, as the attacks coming from the people you were facing seemed to become faster by the second.
You dodged a fire bolt the filthy traitor prince sent towards you and melted a stone that flew towards you mid air, freeing you up for just one moment of looking around the battlefield.
The first thing you noticed was dramatic. A whip made from sharpened, magical water made its way to Azula and she, who was in any other moment completely aware of her surroundings, was just preparing to defend against an attack from the Avatar-boy - she could get killed by that whiplash!
From one moment to another, your brain was deactivated and your protection-instincts, and maybe a bit of love, took over: in an enormous leap you rushed over to Azula - for one moment, everything was red and pain, but soon relieving darkness enclosed you.
---
With an enormous wave of wind, the Avatar ripped two small trees out of the earth, throwing them at Azula. She laughed at that pathetic attempt to seize her, igniting the wood with such fire that only a drizzle of ashes arrived at her position. But that ominous rain not only consisted of the remains of the burned trees, but also of blood.
She quickly looked around herself to see from where the scarlet liquid could originate - the first thing she found was the origin of the terrible act: the waterbender-girl was retrieving a thread of water she had been bending for it to become sharp and deadly into the bottle she always carried around.
Continuing her search, she found, or rather stumbled upon you. You laid unconciously besides her feet, your shoulder bleeding furiously. Considering that you hadn't stood there a few moments ago and in which direction the whip had been flying, it did not take long for Azula to realise the whiplash had been meant for her.
Driven back by a continuously growing amount of fire nation soldiers, the Avatar and his partners fled the battlefield, giving Azula an oppertunity to lean down to you and inspect your barely breathing body further. The more she realised what had happened, the more irrational feelings rushed through her head.
Naturally, everyone would sacrifice themselves for her, right? She was Azula. She really should not feel bad for you, it had been your duty to save her. In fights, things like these happened. You had to live (or not, in some cases) with it.
Yet, she could not help telling the healers who soon arrived to be extra careful with you if they did not want to experience her wrath.
She also couldn't keep herself from waiting outside the healer's tent, anxiously expecting the moment you would leave it. You would leave it, after all. She demanded you did. There was simply no way you couldn't.
And, what was maybe the worst of all, your face did not want to leave her mind. The face she had seen so many times on the courtyard and that she had always taken for granted - and that had not lost any of its beauty even when tainted through your own dark blood.
Given the size of your wound the process of healing was a long and exhausting one, but each day Azulas hope of seeing you again grew with the increasingly positive reports of the healers she ordered them to bring her.
Quite a few times had Ty Lee told Azula, in a very subtle manner, that it was quite unusual for her to think about someone this much. To care about them, even. That it almost seemed as if she liked you.
Naturally, Azula refused to give such assumptions any credit. Romantic fantasies like this were for children, and she was the very confident princess of the fire nation, not some toddler, wasn't she?
Of course she had to admit that she valued your wellbeing a little bit more than everyone elses, but her liking you? How absurd. Ridiculous, even.
Anyways, the only thing she seemed to do the following days beside worrying about you was to emphasize that she did not in any way worry about you at all. Oh, she couldn't wait for the day you left the hospital so that she could ask you some serious questions about what you did to make her think about you.
When the day of your releasememt from the hospital came, though, any questions were quickly forgot. Alone the sight of your face made her see everything she could have ever asked for.
You too could not believe your luck when Azula was the first person to greet you after leaving the hospital; her inviting you to sit beside her at the royal dinner that evening exceeded all your dreams.
She stepped closer towards you, and your heart fluttered when you saw the same look in her eyes that you had been giving her for a long time.
For the love of a noble
Tumblr media
            You were not sent to war because your father was extremely rich and influential and did not want his child to join the war. Or maybe your father was part of the Order of the White Lotus and didn’t want to risk your life for anything, but you weren’t supposed to know that. Your life had been relatively boring. Your mother died shortly after your birth due to complications at birth. She had been the light of your father’s eyes. After her death, your father swore that he would protect you no matter what. Also, your father realized that death does not bring anything good and what the Fire Nation brought to the conquered cities was pain, hunger and tears.You were kept as far away as possible from everything that meant war. No one was allowed to talk to you about politics, colonies or fighting. You were trained from a very young age in firebending, sword fighting and hand-to-hand combat in order to defend yourself. When Fire Lord Ozai sent the order that you were stationed at Boiling Rock to interrogate a special prisoner your father felt his blood freeze with fear and boil with anger at the same time. You felt a sense of freedom. You loved your father, but the old man was far too protective.
          Arriving at Boiling Rock you were introduced to the new prisoner. You expected to deal with a deserter who had tried to threaten the life of a royal or a war criminal from the Earth Kingdom. Instead, you were tasked with interrogating a girl not much older than you. You were amazed to learn that the girl was the leader of the Kyoshi warriors. As soon as you were alone, you locked the cell door while Suki looked at you suspiciously. You turned to Suki with a silly smile and told her that you were honored to meet her and that it was amazing how she managed to achieve so much at such a young age. You started asking her questions about what it was like to grow up in the Earth Kingdom and what it was like to be a Kyoshi warrior. You stopped when you noticed her surprised look and rubbed the back of your head blushing.
        Y/N: Sorry, I get excited too quickly. I am Y/N and I belong to the noble house (the name of the noble house). My family and I don’t support the war but we can’t do much because Fire Lord Ozai would execute us. You don’t know this from me, but that man is really crazy. I think the only person crazier than him in the whole world is his daughter. You know what they say, the chip doesn’t jump far from the trunk. I will pretend that I am trying to force you to give me information and you will pretend that you can hardly resist me. That way we will both win. What do you say?
         Suki looks at the guard in front of her with interest. It was clear you weren’t lying. She had never met a firebender with a heart as good as yours, much less someone from a noble family. After a few moments of intense thought, Suki accepted your plan. You bowed respectfully in front of her and quickly left the cell. In the following days, Suki observed you closely during the hours when she was allowed to leave the cell. You really were an amazing person. When the other guards weren’t looking, you often helped the inmates to carry out their tasks, you tried to make sure that everyone had enough clean clothes, sanitary items and especially food and water. You were a fierce fighter, especially when you used your bending. When you demonstrated your firebending techniques in the prison yard, even the warden seemed impressed. Suki soon realized that she had fallen for you. How could she not? You were too good for this world. Your only flaw was that you often drew too much attention to those around you. For example, you were now being approached by a female guard while Suki was trying not to pounce on her and tear her apart. Angry, Suki went to her cell. That daughter of a bitch! How dare she touch what belonged to her?! It was clear that you two were made for each other. Then Sokka entered the cell in disguise. Suki thought it was you and kissed him. But Sokka gently pushed her, took off his helmet and said that he had already found his soulmate. Although Suki was upset that it wasn’t you, she was glad that she didn’t have to break Sokka’s heart. Sokka was still her friend. They agreed to help you escape, with or without your permission.
             When Princess Azula arrived, you were tasked with giving her a tour of the prison. Let’s say someone had a new admirer much to Suki’s anger. Why do you always manage to get into so many problems?! Unaware of Suki’s growing anger you were flattered by the princess’s strange but sincere praise. She was truly insane, but you were sure she was the most talented firebender who ever lived. Azula will never recognize  but she thinks you’re pretty amazing. She had heard of your talents and besides, you were the most handsome person she had met. Considering your noble blood, the princess was sure that you were a match for her. Together you will rule the world forever! Oh, you will have such powerful heirs! This thought made the princess give you a look that in her mind was seductive. In your mind, you were sure that she knew something she shouldn’t and that she was trying to threaten you with her looks, but that a mosquito-fly got into her eye in the process.
               As you escaped, more or less being kidnapped by Hakoda on Suki’s orders, Azula and Suki gave each other death glares. Both girls knew that this was just the beginning of the battle for your love, whether you liked it or not.
The gif is not mine. Although I do not own the characters from avatar the last airbender, this work belongs to me! I sincerely hope you liked it. please rate it and leave a comment! follow me to see my next posts! Don’t forget that the request are open💖💖💨
The Lava Tube
Summary: Azula and Suki explore a cave together.
Azula remembers the first time that she had truly felt alive again.
It was at the top of a cliff with the wind thrashing violently at her hair as a torrent of ruthless rain splattered her upturned face. The air was charged, backlit by rapid flashes of lightning.
The irony of it all; she had gone there to die.
They had suppressed her spirit and dimmed her personality—smothered and stomped out all of the things that had made her who she was. All of her ‘undesirable’, hard to work with traits. They had whittled her away until she didn’t love herself either. And nobody liked her any better for it.
She is standing on a cliffside again, but not nearly as close to the edge. A renewed lust for life, keeps her further back. A desire to avoid another rock climbing safety lecture from Suki adds a few more feet or distance.
Today the jungle is alive and golden. Dragonflies hum through clouds of pollen and dust. Azula can hear the soft rippling of the river that they had been walking parallel to. It is now distant and the distance has reduced it to just a backdrop to the parrot-iguana calls and toad-squirrel chitters.
Now and then some creature shakes the branches of the canopy and rattles a coconut out of place which drops to the ground with a thud.
Suki wipes some sweat from her brown and Azula swats at a fly that has taken a liking to her arm. “It will be cooler in the cave.” Azula mentions–her subtle way of trying to get Suki to hurry up.
It isn’t that she doesn’t also admire the glorious overlook that they have of the jungle below. It isn’t that she can’t appreciate a good rainbow cast by a close yet distant waterfall. It is more so that she wants to admire something that she has never seen before. Something with a bleakness that is both eerie and alluring. Something that very likely hasn’t ever felt human feet on its rocks.
“Have you ever gone caving before?” Suki asks.
Azula shakes her head. “Have you?” The faint tickles of nervousness decrease only slightly when Suki nods a yes.
“Once or twice. It’ll be nice to not have to carry a torch while we climb.”
“I am going to be using both of my hands, you know?”
Suki shrugs. “Katara tells me that you can breathe fire.”
Azula’s cheeks pinken. “You all need to stop discussing that day.”
“And you need to talk about it more.” Suki counters. “You tend to keep a lot of things inside.” She holds her palm over Azula’s heart. “That’s another thing that you and Sokka have in common; you two just don’t talk about how you feel.”
The pink on Azula’s cheeks darkens. She clears her throat. “Yes, well I…”
“You need to get used to it. You’re safe.” Suki promises.
Azula swallows. She supposes that she is. That she has been for a while now. But old habits are so deeply ingrained. “Can we…?” She gestures to the cave opening.
Suki smiles. “After you.”
Azula makes her way towards the edge, squats down, and insects the opening. “It used to be a volcano.”
“It smells like one.” Suki agrees. “Is it still active?”
Azula shrugs. “I suppose that we’ll find out.” She ignites a small flame in her palm. “It looks like our descent will be less of a climb and more of a walk, if we navigate the slope right. Of course, we could still climb if we choose but it isn’t a straight drop that would require all of our equipment.” Although she feels inclined to use it anyhow, just in case. She supposes that, in the worst case, she could break her fall with well timed jets of fire to propel her upwards. But Suki doesn’t have that luxury.
What time is eaten away by dressing themselves in all of their gear is made up by a much easier descent. Even so, Azula is slightly breathless by the time they reach the bottom. She holds her hand out and helps Suki climb over the boulder. “Watch your step, there’s a hole on the left.”
.oOo.
Suki had never taken Azula for someone who would be fascinated by rocks. But the woman seems mighty invested in running her fingers over many of them. She names them too, tells Suki all about the different formations that she observes.
“It’s mostly basalt, but there’s a lot of obsidian here too.”
Suki can’t tell if she is actually speaking to her or if Azula is muttering to herself, a habit that she has taken on as of late. Azula has many precious little habits. Ones that she doesn’t seem to notice but they mean the world to Suki. The way that she flicks her bangs when she is bored or nervous. The way that she purses her lips and scrunches her brows when she is focused or determined. She likes to rub her thumb and pointer together and create little sparks when she needs a subtle way of keeping her hands busy.
After years of sitting rigidly, quietly, and politely, Azula has become a touch restless. She likes to be busy at all times. Frankly, Suki hopes that this little adventure will coax her to rest a little bit. Not that Azula isn’t speedily inspecting every nook and cranny of the entrance chamber.
Suki hastens her pace and follows Azula and the light of her fire towards what first seems to be a very narrow crack. “Azula, I don’t think that I’m going to fit.”
Azula looks her over. “You’ll be fine.”
Suki bites her lower lip. “Azula, you’re tiny.”
Azula frowns. She picks up one of their torches. “I’ll go in myself and tell you what’s in there.”
“Azula…” She pauses. “I would rather not be alone. Every time I’ve been in a cave I had a few people with me.”
Azula’s frown deepens. “I will be quick.” She declares as though that settles the matter.
They have talked about this. They’ve talked about it several times. And Azula never seems to relent. Suki sighs. She really doesn’t want to have this discussion in a dark and lonely cave. “Well what if you get stuck?”
“I won’t.” Azula assures. “See.” She has herself partially squeezed into the crevice.
“Fine. Go.”
Azula seems tenses. “It’s fine. Never mind.”
Suki can hear the enthusiasm leaking out of Azula’s voice and her heart sinks.
“I just don’t want either of us to get stuck. That’s all.” Suki knows that Azula is aware that there is more to it than just that. And that is precisely what has stolen the joy right out of her. “There’s a bigger opening over there.” She tries.
“Yeah. Sure.” Azula mumbles.
Suki’s heart sinks further still. She had been very excited to explore that cavern and seeing all of that delight turn to disappointment makes her wonder if she is in the wrong here, makes her feel guilty. She doesn’t think that Azula does this on purpose. The princess probably doesn’t even notice. Which is a problem in itself…
“It’s fine, we can see what is in that opening.” She pauses. “The other one was probably just a dead end anyhow.” The silence is tense as they enter the larger opening. Suki opens her mouth several times but can’t come up with anything to say.
They are a good distance into the tunnel when Azula begins to run her fingers over the rocks again, slowing her pace to trace the craggy linework of them. “It’s a lava tube.” She concludes. “I think that it was connected to the initial cave entrance.” She pauses again. “This might take us closer to the heart of the volcano.”
“You think so?”
Azula nods.
She resumes her silence until the tube begins to widen.
And with its increasing width comes an increase in heat. An increase that has Azula dabbing at her forehead. “This might just be an interesting discovery.”
Some of the butterflies in Suki’s stomach go still. Azula’s voice has a bit of that spark back.
“Look at this.” Azula stands with her face towards the ceiling. “I think that those are lava stalactites. I’ve never seen formations like these before. There are some crystals on them too.”
Suki cranes her neck but she can’t seem to see what Azula does. So the princess gently takes Suki’s head in her hands and turns it in the right direction. And there it is, a twinkling spiral of translucent orange gems. “What kind are they?”
Azula hums. “Citrine? Orange Fluorite? I’m not sure. I will have to refer to my scrolls when we get back to the palace!”
Suki manages a smile.
Azula takes her hand. “I’ve always wanted to see a lava waterfall. Of course we won’t be able to get very close…” She pauses. “Unless you would like to turn back now.”
The rest of the butterflies disperse. “We can keep going and see if it gets too hot.”
.oOo.
Perhaps she hadn’t gotten to explore that small crevice but she did get to see a lava waterfall in all of its roaring, furious glory. The sound it had made was a toss between a clap of thunder and the crackling pop of a campfire magnified tenfold.
She hadn’t been able to stare for too long with the brightness being so violently golden and complete. But what she had seen of it is burned into her memory. The cascade splashed into a thick molten pool. In her head she had pictured dragons bathing in its ebbing flow, rising out of the lava with unscathed and dripping wings. Powerful beasts basking in nature’s power.
The glow from which followed she and Suki well down the length of the lava tube as they made their exit. Even for her it had grown much too hot. By the time they reach the much cooler entrance chamber of the volcano, the both of them are perfectly ready for a break.
With the light of the entrance streaming in, Azula lets the fire in her palm snuff out and lays herself down on the cool ground next to Suki. “I suppose that I should thank you for dissuading me away from that crack. It would have been terribly boring in comparison.”
Suki smirks and brushes a few strands of hair out of Azula’s face. “Is that right? Are you actually admitting that you were wrong.”
Azula sniffs. “Absolutely not. The crack would have been exciting in its own right.”
Suki rolls her eyes and gives Azula a little nudge. “If you say so.”
“I do.” Azula replies.
Suki wiggles closer and takes Azula into her arms. “Well I’m glad that this whole caving thing went well.”
Azula relaxes into her embrace and nods. “I would like to explore the Cave of the Two Lovers next. The Avatar made it sound like a fascinating place. Of course, it won’t compare to the lava waterfall. Unfortunately, we have already seen the pinnacle of natural beauty…”
“You’re looking at it right now.” Suki agrees.
Azula crinkles her nose. “Apparently it takes at least five years of being in a relationship for the other person’s terrible sense of humor to rub off on you.”
“Sokka’s sense of humor is an acquired taste. And if his sense of humor has rubbed off on me then my sense of humor will rub off on you. So you will have Sokka’s sense of humor too.”
“I’d rather pitch myself into that lava lake.” Azula grumbles. “My own sense of humor suits me just fine and it will eventually dominate Sokka’s sense of humor and instill itself within you.”
Suki laughs. “You are very intense, you know that?”
“I have been told.” She replies. “But you are still here so…” She shrugs.
“It’s part of your charm.” Suki admits.
Part of her charm…
She swallows. Mostly, people seem to get uncomfortable with her intensity. Suki takes it with a laugh and a smile.
“I think that it’s also part of your sense of humor.” Suki presses her forehead against Azula’s. They fall into a serene sort of silence. For a good while, she is perfectly content listening to the rush of air as it works its way through the cave. Perfectly content to listen to the squawking of birds outside of the cave and the squeaking of flutterbats from within.
“We should probably head back now.” Suki suggests.
“Yes, I suppose that we should.” Azula agrees. They will likely reach the palace well after dark. If they reach it at all; she supposes that she wouldn’t be too upset to spend the night under the stars. “We could spend the night in this cave.”
“We could.” Suki taps her chin. “Do you want to spend the night in this cave?”
“Well I don’t particularly feel like rushing back to the palace.”
“Alright. Let’s try it.”
Azula snuggles herself closer to Suki and nuzzles her cheek against the woman’s chest. At any rate, she is rather drained from this adventure and Suki is plenty comfortable. She kisses Suki’s neck. “By the way, I found this for you.” She draws a small crystal out of her pocket. “It was in the crevice.”
Azula watches her turn the small red gem over in her hand. “It’s really pretty, Azula, thank you.”
Azula smiles to herself and looks towards the mouth of the cave. Warm rays of dying dayling wash golden over her face.
Finally, days are becoming kinder to her.
Suki squeezes her hand.
Rumour Has It
Fandom: Avengers Pairing: Peter Parker x Male!Reader Summary: The Avengers don’t like you, rumour has it. Word Count: 1,729 Request: “If your taking request can you do a peter parker x male reader where peter introduced male reader to the Avengers.”
Tumblr media
The Avengers don’t like you, that’s what they agreed within their little circle.
No, they haven’t met you, yet, but, they just don’t like you.
Dating their youngest member of the team, it’s kind of a big deal. Peter, barely an adult yet, had been especially happy lately. It wasn’t too noticeable at first, the boy is a walking ray of sunshine, but then they started to notice that Peter was skipping out on Friday movie nights every other night.
Peter usually kept a disorganised schedule, often times running out the lab to meet his Aunt, but now, he checks the clock every five minutes and leaves five minutes than intended. He never comes to the tower with an empty stomach like he used to, then they found out that he had been dating someone.
Sketches
Tumblr media
Summary: Reader is Abby’s lab assistant and sketches her sometimes, unbeknownst to Abby, who Reader is crushing hard on.
Pairing: Abby Sciuto X Reader
Word Count: 590
Warnings: None.
A/N: kicking off the ol’ blog’s revival with my first abby fic! still a little rusty after not writing for a while but i’ve got some more content in the works and hope to get something of a posting schedule worked out sometime soon!
The lab was a flurry of light and sound, the clacking of a keyboard barely heard over the blaring music. You perched at a free table, notebook open in front of you, taking advantage of the brief lull in your workday as Abby typed rapidly, eyes fixed on her computer screen.
