It's been well over four months since the split and we've reached the point where I cannot draw any other conclusion than that I have to cut off all contact with J and it makes me almost vomit to really think about it.

Yesterday I spent the evening at G, she insisted she'd cook for me while I made phone calls to inform everyone. Then she sat me down and told me rumors have been going around since December that I stayed with J for the money and that the only reason I left is that I now was making my own. She was told this story by both my former neighbor and a decade old friend of mine. This is the same accusation I received from J, while he pretended his sister said this. I knew then already it was his story. I've seen him proxy his insults via others so many times before.

Thinking about that, I feel smacked down. Like I don't want to get up anymore. G gave me her analysis of what she's seen in the past decade. And she did so in the most compassionate way possible. She told me she admired the way I've always been unbothered, and how much effort it takes to get me angry. Without labeling, she explained the pressure J put on me in the final years, and how unnecessary it has been.

I called T. I don't know where to begin, I said, as I explained how this means I'm losing Dog and Pup, my community roots and most of my ties to the last twelve years. I would really like not to say goodbye to the band too, I added. He stayed silent for a while, as he usually does, and then told me he'd had a feeling that this had been going on. We spoke about the shame. I've been speaking quite a lot about the shame these days. Aside liberation and joy, it's the most prominent feeling I'm having these days.
