It’s not the first time she’s up and left Gotham. Certainly it won’t be the last either. It was an awful, depressing place- not worth saving and not worth staying. Sure, she’d come back, but eventually she’d feel like she’s suffocating again and have to get away- and Jump City was away. 

It was a feeling she was all too used to at this point. Too many sleepless nights and the weariness piling up was taking it’s toll on her. Making an effort was exhausting and seemed all too pointless to her. But there was one thing she could do- not show up on the front porch like a dingus. 

With her movements sluggish, Jade took out her phone and tapped in the password before pulling up her contacts list. 

TO: golden boy [text]: on a scale of one to ten how bad would it be if i just showed up out of the blue?

For a moment Jade stared at the message she sent before sighing. At least in text she was doing better.

“No, I was asking Santa, obviously.” Bad answer, very bad answer but hey- it’s the holiday season and he’s wearing red, what other fictional character was she going to reference? Still, Jade hardly expected the Red Hood to chat- then again, she didn’t really pay attention when overhearing other criminals talk. She had overheard some of his antics- and wow he was an asshole- but the specifics had been gossip for another day. 

Still, she did like getting to sass dangerous people, even if (or perhaps because) it was an absolutely terrible idea. With a scoff, she shook her head, crossing her arms. “Favorite? Oh no, I’m gonna come up with something better. ‘Biker douchebag’ doesn’t even sound good, it’s just- it’s not satisfying to say at all, that was terrible.” She said with a frown. Maybe she was making a fuss of it, but honestly that was part of the fun, and it was helping her calm down after the gunshot. 

“But douchebag is fitting,” Jade remarked, moving her hands to her hips. “I’d been waiting all day for my shift to end so I could actually smoke and you had to go and ruin it. Not cool, dude.” 

“ Who? Me? ” of course him; hood was the only one on this street corner with a hot gun ( that he knew of ), and he made no attempt to hide it, resting the butt of said gun against the back of his neck with almost inappropriate disregard. had he not been wearing his helmet, the girl might have seen a grin similar to her own. ( safe to say, he seemed to have found a kindred spirit in the girl’s sense of humour. )

not that he could condone the teenager’s smoking habit. call him a hypocrite, but – well, his body had been wrecked enough at this point, so the occasional cigarette made virtually no difference.

( though perhaps a gunshot had been a mistake. in his defence, he’d hoped to make a point, but he didn’t miss the abrupt tension in her frame even in the half-light. note to self: don’t do that again. )

“ Yeah, that’s one thing they call me. ” hood maintained a careful distance, perched on the railing of a nearby fire escape, even as he maintained a jovial tone. “ Nosy fuck. Biker douchebag. Pick your favourite, kid. ”
