It's crazy how good the characterization is in Dawson's Creek. Like the personalities the characters have and the things each character does all make sense. Even when I don't like something they do, I totally understand why they did it and why they are the way that they are. It feels like the characters motivate the plot instead of the characters acting a certain way bc that's what the plot needs them to do.

Chris HalIiwell was insane bc instead of just kiIling his evil overlord big brother and save the world he decided to travel back in time instead; gaslighted gatekeeped, girlbossed everyone. Caused his parents’ divorce and risked never being born. Killed and hunted every single demon and entity he thought was a threat to his brother. And when his big brother hauled his ass back home he was like “I didn’t go back to betray you, I went back to save you.” And not even his dead fiancée as collateral damage stopped him from trying to save Wyatt. He stopped at NOTHING. He was a man on a mission and the only thought that bounced inside his head was “Wyatt”

and he succeeded.

The whiplash between the storylines in a single episode of Starsky and Hutch is insane.

Starsky breaks the law and ethics to help an old classmate sober up while her life is threatened by having her stay with him and not explaining why he's basically holding her captive. They then kiss. Hutch is a Big Brother. They keep making fake business cards with their police captain's extension so he gets calls for a snack bar and plumbing business.

And Starsky's house looks like the "For Him" side of Etsy threw up all over the place.

“You’re a dangerous lady.”

Losing it over this scene in Foxy Lady where Hutch has been kidnapped and his place trashed because this witness they’ve both been trying to hook up with hid a bunch of cash at Starsky’s place, but she keeps mixing Hutch and Starsky up and gave the bad guys the wrong address. So naturally Hutch is pissed, but he’s tied to a swivel chair, so all he can do is just glare daggers as he angrily scoots toward her.

Mind you, this is the episode directly after Hutchinson for Murder One, so this is the second time in as many episodes that Hutch has had his apartment broken into and ransacked by a bunch of randoms looking for something valuable that wasn’t actually there.

When I'm watching a show/movie or reading a book, I have this thing called the Sam and Dean Test where I try to figure out whether, if one character died, the other would sell their soul to hell to get the other one back. Passing the Sam and Dean Test means that the characters would sell their souls to hell to get the other back.

Anyways, I'm 100% sure that Starsky and Hutch pass the Sam and Dean Test.
