Emma was the only one from TB who gave a neutral answer and didn't insult anyone.

Ewan probably cares less about the possibility of getting hate because he is not on social media, and I think he and Matt were asked to play into the Aemond/Daemon rivalry to hype up their future fight.

You're right that this fandom is incredibly toxic and not worth it, but the fact that HBO is trying to appeal to the worst types of fans is really disappointing. This marketing only makes me less excited for the season and crushes my last hopes for a more balanced storytelling. These comments about the Greens hating each other and the Blacks being a perfect family really don't inspire my interest. The promo campaign is confusing because HBO recently was like "there are two sides to every story" and now it's basically good guys vs bad guys who barely get any time in the promo.

i mean, yeah, totally agree. which is why i'm so meh about the whole thing and don't feel the vibe any longer. i mean clearly not even the tg actors seem excited for their side's story so why should anyone else? the only people eating good are aemond stans because ewan has always promoted aemond and the greens in an excited way. the rest are just not into it. even fabien who has said team green at one point... his 'promo' was underwhelming and fans took it to mean that he's not into it. regardless of whether he is or not, it does matter how you come across.

so you know for me the issue is that there's such a discrepency between the 'sides' in promo, behaviour, writing, etc that it feels like the show itself is saying one side is the villains and one is the heroes, which would have been fine if they had been honest about it from the beginning.

and even with people like daemon, the show and the portrayal and what the audience took from it is that you can commit any crime whatsoever, and abuse women, but if you 'look cool' doing it then you're automatically cool and not grouped with other women abusers.

so y know i'm kind over it? i'm kinda... well, just not into it. feels like ryan made a salad from this story and most of his storytelling is shallow.

The marketing tactics for season 2 is ridiculous. I get it, they pander to the majority of the fanbase and that majority is TB, but why increase the level of toxicity in this already extremely toxic fandom? Everything for the money, I guess.

And I find it funny that in the recent promotion material the TB actors, especially Corlys, Rhaenys and Daemon, are literally talking shit about TG, like, "we are better looking", "we are better people" , "the greens hate each other, and we are united" the cringe "we are the thoroughbred" by Matt... The actress who plays Rhaenys literally called TG characters a bunch of knobs lmfao. And all TG actors are allowed to say in their favour are things like "we have bigger dragons"😒. And where are Otto and Helaena? Rhaena is there, but no Helaena? Anyway, this could be seen as the actors simply having fun and making references to the "arguments" used by Twitter and Reddit fans, but given the recent reactions, they failed to pass the message. Or the writing got to the actors, too. Idk, I may be overthinking this, but I'm not even looking forward to this show anymore and have a bad feeling regarding s2. I think that the green fans who still fully believe that TG characters and storylines will be done better in the next season are set up for a big disappointment.

and not to be the bearer of bad news because i already knew this, but there will never be much green promo from green actors. tgc has always shared tb stuff along with tg stuff and seems relatively uncomfortable with greens from a morality pov imo, and olivia mostly just does rhaenicent promo and that's about it.

i think the only person who had actually tried to get the green fandom a little pumped up in the past was ewan but there was not much to work with considering the lack of interest from the production.

tbh i'm currently in a very much idgaf phase so i'm like meh. i invested too much energy in this toxic fandom and ultimately none of this matters.

i will probably get back into it as we approach s2 but honestly people should accept this show IS good guys vs bad guys and IS rhaenicent centric and all the talk from the writers or actors is silly when we see the actual product on the screen.

waiting for dunk and egg though. hopefully we can move away from team discourse for a while.

It occurs to me Al*s (at least book Al*s) isn't a "mysterious, captivating and fascinating character" , but a terribly underdeveloped one, a side note in a history book. We don't even know if she ever reciprocated Aemond's twisted feelings. Frankly, I don't get it why people claim Al*smond is such an "iconic" couple

tbh, there's a lot of underdeveloped characters in the book by virtue of how it's written but alys is definitely at times overhyped by a specific group of her fans (not all, a specific group).

the mystery comes from her description that she may or may not be a witch, aemond's choice to let her live and take her as a bedmate despite being older than other girls in harrenhal, the question of whether or not she used love potions on aemond and whether or not she was involved in aemond's death.

even her fans from what i've seen aren't really sure exactly if she's a witch and if she is how powerful is she. i mean she's described at one point to blow the head of a man who refused to bend the knee to her supposed son with aemond with just one look, but also some fans say she was happy aemond killed the strongs because they must have been abusing her.

to each their own i guess. to some it may be an iconic ship, to others not really... like most ships are. personally i say pass.

The writers and the directors have been liking posts calling Alicent a “repressed lesbian” and Aegon various horrible things. I had hopes that he would take charge in s2, but all the promotional material is still centering Alicent and his scenes in the trailer seem so minor compared to the others.

I think we’re actually doomed. Lmfao.

i mean... aegon's is bad no matter how you look at it and this was true and evident from season one episode 8. he is a r*pist.

i did talk extensively about how this was to be expected for quite a long time, in my various posts about rha*nicent and stuff. they have decided in a direction and that's what they'll do. this will not change whether miguel is no longer there or grrm comes in.

i think the only thing that remains for those dissatisfied is the source material and fics.
