Memoirs of a Queen - Mother of a Demon
“Do-Do I really need to do this? I-I mean…this is something a bit…hmm…heavy. O-Oh…well, okay then. Just…p-please don’t judge me too much, okay? Oh, hmm…I wish I could write it…”
“Anyway, something about me…oh, this is like an interview? Oh, this does take me back! Okay…hmm…you know my mother, right Cressida. Well, I’ll share a little tale! It’s…hm, not cute, but I hope you learn something from it…{maybe you and your mother will..hmm..} Oh s-sorry, just…talking to myself.”
“…my mother is something I utterly adore, Cressie. O-oh…s-sorry that is still a bit sore, right? Hmm…oh-oh you like her a lot too! Oh, I love when she gets so focused on the cube that she puts the tip of her tongue o- Right, right, I’m digressing…s-sorry. Anyway, my mother was someone I utterly adored, with all my heart, even if I…hmm, didn’t know how to express it like most other people did…but that was fine for us, we weren’t really sociable, chatty, and an evening reading our books, or entertaining Mother’s riddles were much more worth than forcing ourselves to chat of matters like the weather, or gossip…”
“Right, I did frown, right, hmm…sorry. I particularly hate it…I’ve had to hear from it a lot…specially directed towards my mother.”
“Black Widow. Rhina the Two Faced. Husband Murderer. Monster Lover. I’m certain you…know of my father, right? Lord John Roachley…his name makes me sick to the stomach; well, the lack of it, but I digress. The details were before my time, and mother does not like to share them, besides what I already came to expect and learn…an abusive, inattentive husband, ignorant of the fact that my mother forced herself to even fall in love with him, calling her a freak, boring, ignoring her needs and leaving her even more alone than she already was.”
“Mother says the spell that broke his heart is a mistake, but I simply see as…justice, for a wicked demon. No offense to the Lucitors that is, I suppose…like many things, mother was just unfortunate. She didn’t have many friends either, one of them being recently diseased, and Lady Gyora on the…dimension of the creepy looking cats; nonetheless, I…was mother’s only company, on that lonesome, massive castle.”
“I’m aware mother wasn’t the…best of queens. Neither the worst, certainly not, but mother had a quirky behavior, her obsession with riddles, and this…distance to others, that made plenty of people resent her. And with the murder of my father, and the constant shaming and aggression from the Lucitors…Well, she dealt with a lot of backdoor intrigue. And I had to listen to a lot of it. I dislike crowds, I really really do, it isn’t only because of that…but partially, I just absolute loathed what they would talk behind our backs. Or pity me, for being the "daughter of a murderer” or how “fruit of a loveless marriage”…nonsense, born of idle minds and barren minds, but I always bared it, like mother did. We were royals, we were always to be above such noise coming from whineysayers, and gossipers, looking for mischief and fan the flames of the rumor mill for amusement, or wicked self-interest.”
“…my line, however, was when a tabloid, I remember to this day its name, The Truthial Mewnial…stupid name, right? Well, they published an article about my father. How he was a kind, loving ma, ready to be made a father, before cut short by a queen, threatened by the Lucitors might, and influence…”
“…dear, you certainly know how demons are very…protective of their mothers, right? And I am, I love my mother very much. So, not only to see my mother’s name dragged through the mud, but I also had to see her cry…and deal with the glares, from ungrateful men and women, willing to make her more and more miserable…well…that’s my first secret, Cressie. I’m very…very upset if someone hurts my family.”
“So, I sought them out. Each and every member of that sensationalist, worthless piece of yellow journalism…Names. Families. Properties; No one would blink at the shy, timid kid of Rhina, wouldn’t be too suspicious of her intents; really, it’s surprising how much lee-way a princess has when all she has to do is look shy, embarrassed, give some smiles, and ask side questions…”
“When I had all of it, I’ve…convinced mother to prepare one of those meals with them…she hated them, they took the opportunity to rub in her face about my father’s death, but would apologize for mother to have to deal with them one last time, and she took it as interest of me in royal matters…so they were invited, bringing their dirt in our halls, the snide looks and glares stamped on their faces…I said I felt ill, and Mother understood, the hurt and frustration in her eyes showing…took any single second thought of what I would do.”
“…w-why are you’re looking at me so scared? Hmm…a-am I spooking you? I-I can stop! Eer…hmm…ok-okay, if you say so. I-I think I am getting to the…good part? Okay…”
“So in the quiet of the night, I’ve gone to the archives, coincidentally unlocked by what may, or may have not been Lady Gyora on a visit, surely, I’ve got their ownership papers…their funds, stocks, treaties on land, ownership of that damned tabloid, and burned them myself…I would have thrown in a fire, but I wanted the pleasure to burn their trace on my kingdom myself; then I’ve snuck out, carrying torches…the houses were empty, as they wouldn’t have been tone deaf to refuse an invitation from royalty…and breaking in, and turning their houses into pyres was…well, just as easy, and rewarding.”
“I suppose that comes from my dad because the fire…felt really, really good. I’ve returned, smiling. I’ve come back to my home, took a shower, my conspirators made sure they wouldn’t know until it was too late, and went to sleep like a baby.
“Next day, they were ruined. All their belongings were gone, all their papers, any trace of any presence they had on Mewni completely and utterly erased…they tried to raise a ruckus, but what were they now, but penniless peasants, raising a ruckus? They’ve left, tail between their legs, very likely hoping the Lucitors would give them refugee…I couldn’t care less, if they loved them so much, they could go right back to them.”
“The next day, my mother was visibly happy, and we’ve braided each other’s hair. Demons are very close to their mothers, Cressie, and I’m no exception. I won’t let anyone have any measure of harm to my family, and not see retribution multiplied.”
“…oh, did I got too much into it? Hmm…n-no no one died, haha! Hmm…”
“…oh, hmm…s-sorry if I scared you, I can just g- Oh…you want me to teach you how to break out of the Castle? I-I shouldn’t, b-but…well, i-if you insist…there’s this painting of Alphonse the Brave…”

(HOPEFULLY) BIG BRAIN SPECULATIONS FOR CLEAVED
Ok I’m usually not one to make plot based predictions but I’m moderately hyped about this one, even though I might be completely wrong.
In Book be Gone Glossaryck roasted a ball of pudding which ended up glowing yellow when he died. Yellow like pure magic. This was most likely the “egg” for the firstborn Star found in the soup in Toffee: Glossaryck prepared a fail safe to restore magic, and then left it up to Star to use it. Would she have been determined enough not to give up, or it was time for magic to die?
Now, in The Tavern at the end of the Multiverse, Glossaryck sent Star and Marco two cups of pudding, with two spoons, in a scene that lead to Star thinking about destroying magic and all that.
Then the promo for Cleaved showed us this scene with Marco fighting in the Realm of Magic. And it wasn’t until Disney uploaded a high quality version on Youtube that I could properly see what Marco is holding in his left hand. It’s not a weirdly drawn version of his wand,
It’s a fucking spoon full of pudding.
Glossy gave them two puddings, two spoons. I obviously can’t tell any of the specifics, but if this means that Star and Marco are BOTH going to be responsible for “recreating” magic together, a new form of it maybe, after it gets destroyed or something like that… BOI.
Again, we can’t know the specifics, but they could easily go for something like, I don’t know, magic born from the union of two different dimensions has a message about unity and equality, effectively killing the old magic that was used by Mewmans to oppress monsters, and creating a new magic for everyone, or something like that. Even more full of symbolism if Marco gets corrupted by the wound we see in the promo, leading to an unity between light and dark. Marco’s original wand design was a yin-yang, even!
