x files au in which, instead of chewing on sunflower seeds, Mulder incessantly fiddles with a rubik’s cube. scully reaches over one day and solves it for him and he pouts at her.
I’m picky with my AU, but Annie nails it and weaves it into cannon in a clever way. Great horror case file, great MSR, and flowery prose that works. Also Profiler!Mulder
Sexy time, Novel length, casefile, AU, horror, MSR, cancer arc, s6 and s7 - kind of. You’ll see.

Omens by lepus-arcticus: SO GOOD. So so good. Post-Never Again casefile. Witchy, full of love and thematic complexity, beautifully beautifully written. I keep returning to the imagery of this. There’s one scene in a greenhouse...on replay in my mind.
Doorway to the Gods by wtfmulder: I LOVE this case-file so much. The angst, the UST->’RST’ is exquisite and the imagery is visceral. The atmosphere, the themes...help.
Parabiosis by penumbra: Opened channels in my mind, changed the way I write, the way I see and understand these characters. You feel like you’re reading a dream. The imagery and characterisation is literary and surreal. Season 7 compliant, and now my canon.
36 questions by mldrgrl: The best kind of angst-fluff, just a long riveting conversation between them post-Milagro using one of my favourite quizzes of all time as a scaffold. It’s so them, and so fun.
When the Lights Are Off by storybycorey: This one haunts me in the best way. It’s dark and slow and rings so true for a part of msr that seems unspeakable. The motif of death and desire is so complex.
Those characters are forever searching. That’s what they do. Even if we’re not watching them, they’re out there, in some dimension. Mulder and Scully are still doing their thing ‘cause that’s their nature. — David Duchovny
