I don't give a fuck about cost. I just want cloud saving for a PORTABLE CONSOLE. I agree that something so simple shouldn't be excluded for the absolute most outrageous reason that can be fixed with ease. I don't want 'Tendo to think they can get away with giving us the Apple treatment.

So, regarding Nintendo Switch Online

I don’t usually do this, as I try to keep this blog focused, and I don’t like using it as a soapbox when I’m trying to keep it as an independent entity. That said, I wanna have an honest talk about the paid online service, and my thoughts on it.

And let me start off by saying that it’s not very good now, is it? Even disregarding the price point and the fact that most of the features consist of stuff we already had access to, the perks offered are extremely lacklustre, to put it lightly. Perhaps the most insulting part of it is that one of the biggest sells of the entire thing, the cloud saves, isn’t even available for the games that need them most.

That’s not even getting into how Nintendo claims they won’t enable cloud saves for Splatoon 2 to avoid it being used for cheating, while also completely failing to actually implement proper anti-cheat protection in the game, to begin with. The whole system is a sham, and it’s a sham we have to buy into because it’s holding games like Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate for ransom.

So can we do anything about it? I actually believe we can.

I do not believe that this is a situation where boycotts and petitions will do anything, this situation calls for outrage. Nintendo often gets by when they mess things up by relying on consumer goodwill that they had previously built up, so the one thing we can do is try our best to not let them do that. If we want things to change then we, as Nintendo’s consumers, need to turn the paid online service into a PR nightmare. We need to mock and ridicule them at every opportunity we get, we need to ensure that they never hear the end of how arrogant and incompetent this has made them look.

I’m not saying this out of spite or malevolence, I love Nintendo dearly, and I want to see them do better than this as a result. And if I’m completely frank? I don’t think any amount of bad press will make them kill off the paid online. But I do believe that if we push hard enough, they might make it better. They might make it worth the price they’re asking for, and that is ultimately what I want.

If I have to summarize my thoughts here, then it’s like this: Paid online is here to stay, and it won’t get better unless we push Nintendo around long enough for them to give in. But the second the controversy dies down, and that we stop complaining? That’s when they’ve gotten away with it, and I don’t want them to get away with mediocrity again. I hold them to a higher standard than that.

So stay angry, stay indignant, and make sure to not let go of that fury, because the only thing that moves big corporations is bad PR.

Every other image? Perfectly fine. Why? Because you can tell that Marina is WAY darker than Pearl. No matter the lighting, it is impossible to make Marina even close to Pearl's skin. Period. But here? She's nearly the same damn color. Color theory can go to hell because just for this one piece it's plain unacceptable.

In the art I just look at the scene, seeing how making Marina darker will clash with the aesthetic, then if their colors are apart. That's it. Nintendo it's not hard.

"But why do your care? She's fake!"

We finally get a major character that has a color darker than beige. This made my excited when I first saw her. Finally I get someone who looks like me. FINALLY I get a dark skinned character without white hair. Seeing this just hurts, and I love Nintendo.

"Yeah but why is it so important? You're overreacting!"

I'm pretty sure if they made Pearl hella dark you all will lose your shit. Again I was so glad to see a major character with similar skin to mine, but then they erase it. It feels disrespectful. 'Tendo you can make mistakes but will still get backlash for shit.
