sorry but what is "halimedean"? i know the other terms simply from being here since the dark ages but that one's slipping my mind. and google is showing me algae
😭 halimede (@/HalimedeMF) is a somewhat infamous twitter user because of. well. tweets like these, which is to say, being The chaser of all time. for obvious reasons she can be kind of polarizing. but like, it's pretty obvious halimede is a joke account playing a character, even if for some reason you disregard all the posts that are just fully in character as halimede from indie vn heaven will be mine. you still reserve the right to think the jokes are in poor taste, but ime it's mostly the transbians i follow on twitter that are making references to halimede all the time lol
ARCANA [Challenging: Failure] - You try to get a sense of whatever magic is contained within the book, but the book repels your efforts with what feels like spite. You are left with an unpleasant prickling sensation under your skin, and a book that is still stubbornly shut.
LAE'ZEL - "Enough fiddling. Give the book to me."
YOU - Hand the book to Lae'zel.
LAE'ZEL - Lae'zel takes a moment to look the book over, then punches the lock open in one hit.
"I could've done that."
"How did you do that?"
"Thank you, Lae'zel."
Shed a silent tear for your pride and masculinity.

the assignment was completely free as long as it was like. digital. or involved any technology really. so i just went wild cos it's kind of the only class i'm able to do what i really like which is. idk silly digital illustrations.. so. yeaough
i've been told ianthe is vriska-like but after two books i didn't really get any of that from her. possibly this is because i'm not a teenager and my period of peak vriska susceptibility has passed. possibly this is because she's not a teenager and her period of vriska embodiment has passed so at 22 she really just comes off kind of pathetic
I know someone's gonna yell bait about this but idc, like, what? Do you want proof? Video evidence? Grow up.
So I (30x) really like Goya's Black Paintings. Like, Saturn Devouring His Son, Duel with Cudgels, A Pilgrimage to San Isidro. I think they're hypnotic, beautiful, evocative. They make me feel emotions I can't quite explain properly.
As the title says, sometimes I beat my meat to them. Whatever. It's not really about horniness. But the intent doesn't matter.
Recently (in a discussion about sexuality in art, I promise it was relevant, similar sentiments were being shared) I mentioned to my partner (33nb) that I do this. They were pretty taken aback.
Apparently, they find this 'gross' and 'kind of dodgy' because Goya's black paintings were never intended to be shared with a wider audience. They were art that he did not mean to share, painted on the walls of his house near the end of his life. They say it seems like the work is too personal to jerk off to, that it seems invasive or like a violation.
I don't think it's a big deal. The guy is dead, it's not like his ghost knows what I'm doing. It's a good thing to consider, but I don't think it ultimately matters, ethically.
like, sci-fi with a weirdly colorblind space empire that skirts around who exactly were the real historical victims of empire on earth is a pretty common genre failing. but this is such a weird lampshade to hang at the end of your second book when your main characters are word-of-god mixed māori but not, um, textually acknowledged as such. and there's not really any good way to interpret this bit followed up by john directly making another referential joke about wake's name - he's a bad guy, but he's a bad guy whose references you are pretty clearly meant to get and find funny. here's a character with a māori phrase in the middle of an overly long silly joke name, described as dead words that have lost meaning or comprehension over ten thousand years. ....okay! sure. whatever. if i ever see anyone recommended tlt based on it having lesbians of color in it again i'll blow them up with my mind
i will say i think this Bit is in pretty blatant poor taste for various reasons, especially because the series so far tends to elide race/color except, i guess, to emphasize ianthe's consumptive beauty schtick. if there is a later revealed lore justification for it i still think it's in poor taste.
wait harrow isn’t white?? i have not read the books just seen the deluge of posts forever and ik that gideon is meant to be māori but harrow. i had no idea whatsoever. tumblr fanart has really been tumblr fanarting i guess :/
according to the wiki which links to a tumblr post by tamsyn muir she is supposed to be mixed māori (like gideon), noted as having lighter skin than gideon, but from reading the books you would not fucking know this!!!!!!!!!
