I have been so depressed lately I haven’t been able to post any sturgeons but I saw this on the Great Lakes aquarium Instagram his name is CRACKERS he is a BELUGA STURGEON they are TARGET TRAINING HIM so that he can eventually enter a sling comfortably to get his checkups!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Forcing myself to study feels like forcibly having to feed icky medicine to an unwilling animal; the animal is constantly scrambling and kicking and trying to get away and you need to restrain it over and over again, somehow keep the grip around its strong limbs and slippery body and simultaneously force its jaws open with one hand

Red-Lipped Batfish (Ogcocephalus darwini)

Conservation Status- Least Concern

Habitat- Galapagos reefs; Coast of Peru

Size (Weight/Length)- 40 cm

Diet- Mollusks; Small fish; Crabs

Cool Facts- While you might look at this and think it’s a picture of your 75 year old neighbor Mrs. Smith, you would be wrong. The red-lipped batfish is a fish with legs. Well, not really legs but modified fins that allow them to walk across the floor of the ocean. Due to this amazing adaptation, batfish are poor swimmers and make easy targets for predatory fish. They tend to stick to shallow coral reefs that have plenty of food. 

Rating- 11/10 (A fish. That can walk. And it has lips.)
