Given that he was canonically disowned and kicked out for his sexuality, I’d say the elders of the family don’t have the highest opinions of him. Siblings (if they exist) or cousins I’m unsure about.
Kung Lao, his uncle or cousin or whatever NRS decides to make him this week, cares deeply for him and actively supports him though. He’s also angered by what their family did to Kung Jin and is not afraid to show it.
can you do some fluffy and angsty Kung Jin head canons?
Of course I can! Also sorry for late response, have this doodle as an apology-
Now onto the headcanons!
Jin, in my au/mind, had an abusive father and an emotionally distant mother. While his father rarely got physical, he experienced a lot of verbal and psychological abuse. His mother who was already traumatized from her own upbringing also went through this and it caused her to distance herself. If you want to read it, here’s the OC sheet I made for her!
His birthday is January 20th, 1992. He will preach to the end of his days that the rest of the kombat kids should respect him more since he’s the oldest.
Cassie found out they have similar taste in music and dragged him to a music shop that sold records, tapes, and cds and they spent the whole day sorting through them. He pretended to hate it but it was actually on of the funnest things he’s ever done.
Gets incredibly defensive when someone raises their voice. Even if they aren’t mad or upset at him.
Has really quiet thoughts and Takeda has to focus on him hard to be able to hear them. This has turned into a cat and mouse game between them.
Once helped Frost out of a panic attack by making her laugh.
Had a boyfriend at the private school he attended. When his family found out this he was disowned at 17, spent four years on the streets, and was taken in by the Shaolin when he was 21.
Has a hoarding problem from being homeless and his father saw most things as unnecessary leading him to become attached to the items he does have. Has had breakdowns from people taking his things before. Doesn’t like to lend anything. If he gives you anything it’s a massive sign of trust.
Him and Jacqui bonded over having strict fathers (no Jax isn’t abusive, he’s just over protective) and frequently helps her with her weaponry. They do shooting competitions, Jacqui hasn’t won once.
The more I think about Reiko and his relationship he has with General Shao, the more sad I get.
Theory time:
When we're first introduced to Reiko, we are told that he was orphaned during a war, that Shao took him in and raised him to his image - someone who loves war and fighting - the things that took Reiko's parents.
Shao's father put him trough a program to mold him into a perfect soldier and Shao molded Reiko into the perfect soldier well reserved in the ways if war - repeated cycle.
And Reiko doesn't even realize what he was roped into (case and point neither does Shao), that he was robbed of his childhood for good, just like Shao.
Reiko is so loyal to Shao because (we can poke fun at it all we want) this is a traumatized child, who clings to the only father figure that he has after losing his parents. He will follow his father figure, no matter where, because he will not lose him again.
And perhaps, Reiko is forcing himself to love what took his parents, what made him an orphan because it is what General Shao loves(I'm saying if because of how much Reiko blabbers about it)
Which makes Reiko quite the tragic character if you think about it.
I hate hate hate hate how dog friendly everything is in the city now. Barring medical necessity, there is no reason to bring your dog to a restaurant, there is no reason to bring your dog to the grocery store, there is no reason to bring your dog to the nail salon. Dogs do not need to go everywhere you go why am I being forced to be around dogs all the time
