Ah goodness, I just reread this fanfic for the 3rd time, because it’s my all time favorite!! You’re writing is so impeccable and it makes it so hard to put the read down! Anyways, I’m curious to hear how our favorite duo ended up participating in Nationals? Anna was so adamant about not pursuing Nationals after their Olympic debut, so maybe some insight as to what changed? Another bonus maybe?? 👀

I see it as 4 years is a long time, and with time, things can change. Throughout the main story, we learn about the girls' weaknesses, mind sets, and ultimately just where they were in life; Elsa rebuilding herself while preparing for post-grad life & Anna only at the beginning of her collegiate career, future ripe with opportunity. Nationals didn't make sense, and really, would have been more of a hindrance in them moving forward; they needed the purity of the sport and what it meant to them, while letting them grow as themselves & as a couple.

I see the decision as something they kept in the back of their minds over the years, and when both felt they were at the right point in life to try out again, they went for it.🥰

If Elsa and Anna ended up purchasing a Double together, what would they name it? I can only imagine Anna suggesting something silly like “Knokk Out” and Elsa being mortified at the quip; rather recommending something of Norwegian sophisticated grace.

I think you win with what they would name it! 'knokk out' is hilarious 😆 and Elsa has a hard time denying Anna of things that make her happy/laugh

So I’ve been following this story since December 2021, and I must say that this is my absolute FAVORITE Elsanna fanfic! I never thought I would become enraptured by a crew fic, but as a prior collegiate athlete, I guess it makes total sense! Anyways, I’m loving the bonuses you’re adding to this amazing story. I’m curious if you plan on adding a wedding/married life chapter, or if you plan on writing a sequel in the future?! 👀👀 Keep up the amazing work and stay safe! 😊

i was thinking of adding a wedding scene into the bonuses, but nothing too too long. I do not have any plans for a Backwards Sequel but that is why I'm enjoying the time to explore adding extra stuff in the bonuses 😊

*SPOILERS* Did Belle care about Elsa at all? Or she was using her 100%?

Short answer: she did care, yes, just not in what we would associate as typical 'care'

Long answer: I'm working on a back story for her, but ultimately her poor family upbringing lacked the loving/supportive environment to understand what healthy 'love' or 'empathy' are, and this leaves her focused on herself & money/achievement focused; she sees everything in her world as a tool for her needs toward success. She's not necessarily able to distinguish where her emotions are at, simply since she was not taught the importance in her formative years (not to repress, like Elsa's parents wanted. But Belle wasnt given a safe/healthy means to process & introspectively learn her feelings, and only saw unhealthy behaviors in her parents).

Had Elsa not come from money, Belle would have likely still befriended her cuz she was a good rower, and undeniably pretty, so at 1st glance that's all things to make Belle look good. They were definitely what Belle did consider 'friends', even if there was a definite power imbalance; basically, Belle needed that sense of power to feel as if they're equal (and young Elsa was completely giving of this). This power imbalance then followed into their relationship, and although Belle never felt guilt over her intentions or was willing to sacrifice tools (ie. Hans) that she felt she needed, she did grow protective of Elsa and developed what was truly the closest thing to 'love' she'd ever experienced. She did feel the loss to Anna as a big blow but in a top-down manner: 1st her future plans were foiled, 2nd she lost the girl who always came back to her/gave her the most support in her actions, 3rd she felt the fear attached to losing love for the first time ever (without emotional knowledge to process the emotion, which leads her to anger and desperation)

I hope this helps explain my own thought process on their interactions. She wasn't born heartless, but became a product of her environment. Does it excuse Belle's actions? No. Was it an unfortunate life circumstance to lead her down this path? Yeah.

How would you say Elsa would react if she knew Flynn called her parents "rich pigs"? xD

I can only answer this in the form of a short apparently, must be since I'm in the mindset to write right now lol

After the information casually fell from Anna's mouth without even a second thought in the matter, the freckled girl quickly squeaked, covering her lips, realizing that maybe this comment wasn't exactly something she should be sharing in a group.. or at least a group her girlfriend was in. The surprised look was already blooming across a pale face, and even more so spreading over the newly appointed Senior Captain's own, so she could certainly confirm that dropping the reference of Flynn's previous description of Elsa's parents was not the smartest thing she could have done.

Elsa gave the Starboard rower a side-eye, admonishing with a bit of wariness; a warning to tread carefully regarding the family ties behind her question. "Flynn..?"

Collecting his features, he just shrugged cooly. "Hey, I said what i said." Then he gave her a firm, skeptical look when Elsa didn't let up on her pressing stare. "What? Do you really disagree with me?"

Anna could tell that Elsa was trying to keep a stoic face, but the muscles of her lips began to twitch before she ended up shaking her head and smirking, a chuckle trailing in self disbelief as each word was carefully chosen. "Actually.. I guess not as much as had i expected.."

"See?" Flynn laughed with an instant grin, seeming to ease now that the topic was solved, obviously ready to move on in the group's chat. But Anna could practically hear their tall, blond friend's cheeky comment before it was actually said aloud.

"My dude," Kristoff began, lifting his index finger to his chin in mock thought before casting it back on the other man. "Are you then implying Elsa is a rich piglet?"

This may be farfetched, but I always wondered about Anna's neon-green crocks. Is it related to the Green Boots of Mnt Everest?

Oh wow, this is such a cool take!! Dang, now I just wanna say this has been exactly the reason all along ahaha :)

Honestly though, it was just personal experience from 2 factors: Functionality: when you dock & have less than 2 minutes to get your boat off the dock before the next one lands, if you don't find your shoes mixed amongst 40+ other pairs of shoes fast enough, then you suffer walking the boat back to the shelves in wet socks. Bright colors make it hella easier to find your shoes quickly. Aesthetic: bright color not only makes everything in life better in general, it also makes you stand out... and who doesn't wanna stand out? especially in your crew team photos! (exhibit A)

Backwards Spotify Playlist

I started making this after a friend inspired me to pick songs associated with scenes/moods/relationships/overarching themes. So I'm sharing for anyone who's interested, or just needs a new random list on Spotify.

The playlist is ordered in "chronological order"; there are Story Mentioned songs to orient the listener roughly to where they're at in the narrative (eg. the Polish "Let it Go", the club "First Time", Flynn singing "22", the dance "All About Us", etc) .

Urrk... Reblogging this because of the ironic hopeful & sweet summer child innocence of my statement as we enter the 2yr marker for this pandemic this week😮‍💨 😣

Anyway, this reminded me that someone once asked about a Quarantine based prompt, and i have no problem doing a sweet little one of our girls trying to occupy themselves during lockdown.. but working through this pandemic in acute care, i understand the emotional impact & i don't want that concept to seem insensitive to those most affected.
