“Use your gifts and your talents to greatest possible effect while you can. Spread joy wherever possible. Laugh at jokes. Tell jokes. Make puns and bugger the embuggerances. Read books. Read my books. You might like them. You might find something else you like even more than them. Look for these things in life.
Question authority. Champion good causes. Speak out against injustice. Do not tolerate bullies or bigots or racists or anti-intellectuals or the narrow-minded. Use your education to challenge them. Broaden their perspectives. Make the world you interface with a happier place.
These are your choices. Choices you have been fortunate to have been given, so don’t waste them while you have them. Don’t look back in years to come and wish you had grasped a fleeting opportunity. Grasp it now with both hands, Live. Strive. Love.”
from A Little Advice for Life taken from ‘Terry Pratchett: from birth to death, a writer.’
—Sir Terry Pratchett; April 28, 1948 – March 12, 2015
One of the greatest compliments I've ever received is that I resemble Sam Vimes.
Mind how you go.

watching a video about this cargo ship that blew up in texas in the 40’s and it’s like . i know that with a lot of incidents especially older ones like this the reason that the safety standards were so shitty was because they literally did not know that these kinds of disasters COULD happen (and in many cases these disasters are what MADE the safety standards better) but sometimes you just learn about this shit and you think. how could all these people be so stupid

one day we’re gonna talk abt how almost every single black character in the show was shortchanged by the writers. madi, a main character and one of the most important people in the show, wasnt introduced until mid s3, limiting the amount of time and space available to develop her and flesh her out. mr scott wasn’t given a proper name and his characterization was jerked around for two full seasons bc they couldnt decide on what to do w him beyond a “loyalty to guthrie” storyline until the maroon camp (and then they immediately killed him). the maroon queen wasn’t given a name at ALL and only existed to help the plot along. eme was introduced early but neglected in favor of white characters (like did we NEED all that development of dufresne’s character?? was the vane drug addiction storyline NECESSARY??) until she became useful to the plot. julius was thematically SO important for s4 and could/should have served as a crucial counterpoint to madi, silver, and the maroon queen but wasn’t explored or developed at all. the maroon camp wasn’t introduced until s3 even though it could have been developed parallel to nassau. like the writers took SUCH care to develop white characters and storylines and neglected black characters that would have strengthened the story and its overarching themes SO SO much and it’s blatantly fucked up to make a story about resistance where almost all the black characters are minor

No, no, no… you've got it all wrong… you can't act death. The fact of it is nothing to do with seeing it happen - it's not gasps and blood and falling about - that isn't what makes it death. It's just a man failing to reappear, that's all - now you see him, now you don't that's the only thing that's real: here one minute and gone the next and never coming back - an exit, unobtrusive and unannounced, a disappearance gathering weight as it goes on, until, finally, it is heavy with death.
