Why are people and the writers so weird about Prospero being potentially aro/ace 💀
I’m not really active on the server, I mostly only use it to look at art, but is he canonically aroace?? I’m not aro so I’m not sure if I can have a say in this

Alright, here is my confession: I just can't get behind Ada's canon character nor do I have any sort of love for her design and I truly do believe that she is the banner for the entirety of Nevermore as a comic. Looks okay from afar if you don't pay attention to anything about it and started out intriguing until expanded upon. Another confession is that I wish I could like Nevermore more than I do. Not enough good Poe content out there and I mourn (haha) the loss of something that could have been really good.
Sorry, this is from a while ago so I’m not sure if your opinion has changed but, I can see your point.
I sort of tried to like her because I felt bad for her, but after a while kind of gave up. It might be because for the characters, they’ve only been there for a couple of days so they haven’t really been able to develop as characters yet, but I feel what you’re feeling, similar to a lot of characters actually.

this fandom is one of the most sensitive fandoms i've ever seen/been in, they love to preach not caring about other's opinions but will regurgitate and initiate arguments just to defend some stupid shit like a ship or a hc, like how are you gonna all "we should all respect each other 🥺" then have a dogpile session because someone said they don't like your shit 🤨
I'm not involved in fandom stuff, but I've definitely seen some people get hated on for small things, where some people weren't even trying to be mean.

I'm sick of this white centric fandom (and story at this point) cause it's crazy how Will is loved and a "silly pathetic baby" for saying he hates women while Duke is the devil reincarnate for "messing with lenores wife." AKA the person he truly reached out for help from while getting MURDERED only to get glared at and told she targeted him. All his trauma is treated like hes being overdramatic or needlessly aggressive to the poor innocent white lady and its. "You're acting like she's some kind of monster!" He doesn't even get a real chance to rest because magically he's fine 5 seconds after the story will literally tell us that he's sick and needs to lie down after freezing and suffocating in a wall for a day. Meanwhile monty gets to lie in bed and have people at his side. When Lenore actively demeans him for wanting to kill a person who had him murdered its a big sibling dynamic joke to the fandom. I don't ever see Annabels trauma being treated this way or any of the white characters. I thought this webtoon would be different with how poc specifically black people are treated by the narrative/fandom.
I agree, I don't like how the fandom started treating Duke after that episode when he's doing the same thing Annabel is (Protecting his group). Since her group tried to kill him already, of course, he thinks they're going to try and kill someone from his group again. I don't understand why people are saying he's being unreasonable, murderous, or even "proving Annabel's point" of not being able to trust anyone. He was sick, but then the next episode he's completely fine?? His trauma gets brushed off completely while the two white characters get like 4 episodes dedicated to them.

I find it funny/endearing how Annabel's enjoyers do countless things to justify why Annabel said X or Y, as well as the motivation for her actions with other people. This is good, because she is a complex character and having good interpretations helps against hate. But, I think it's even funnier that when it's Lenore's turn to make a mistake, no one is here to try to explain where her actions come from. It's as if Lenore needs to be the shield in the relationship that doesn't make mistakes. Some of them act as if Lenore didn't have traumas and fears, and therefore, for them it is incoherent that Lenore's attitudes are focused on this: not to let anyone die because of her, just as happened with her brother. (I love Lenore and Annabel characters equally and I'll defend them both, but this tendency to disregard Lenore's traumas just because she's the protagonist is something I've noticed, and it's really sad, I would like that not happen for either character).
This is so true, I wish her trauma wasn't pushed to the side so much.

What do we think about the number of students? In episode five we see that when the keys to the dormitories are handed there all at least 852 rooms. If we assume there are a pair of students in each room, that means there were at least 1704 at the begining.
I know we stil barely have the background of some of our main cast but I would really like to know some more students in season 2 (i doubt they'll introduce even a tertiary character in this season)
Me too, I’d like to see if other students have formed similar groups as well like the main characters. I’d also like to know if there’s characters near our time period more?? Like we have people from the 1900s, I wonder if there’s some that are closer to us like the 2000s.
Also, sorry for not answering any confessions lately. I’ve been busy irl a lot.

Okay so I think there is something weird going on with Lenore
And it's not what you think. Well I'm not sure what I'm even thinking; tbh it feels like I'm pulling on a thread that's not meant to be puled yet but well hear we are.
So I think there is something about Lenore that is fundamentally different than the other students, and it's not just the prior bond she has with Annabel. It seems like, and this is going to sound completely insane, that she has some connection to nevermore, or something about her is closer to the entities that inhabit it.
Hear me out.
Warning: this is unhinged.
Upon entering the grounds of the academy she had that weird eldritch vision.
Tumblr media
A vision Annabel didn't seem to have.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A vision the Deans knew she had.
Tumblr media
And then there it the thing with the orbs. In chapter 45 Poppet stats them to be insentient, but they don't seem to act that way. They talk, and even try to protect Lenore.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now it's unclear weather Annabel can hear what they are saying, as this feels like it's from Lenore's pov but I wanted to include it any way. These orbs feal sentient to me, maybe not sapient, but it feels like a weird thing for a teacher, do get wrong, or knowingly mislead us with.
And then there is the Raven. The mother fucking Raven. He is the first character we see Lenore with.
Tumblr media
He states that the only reason that he talks to her is that she addressed him first. Something that no other student has done.
Tumblr media
And then there is this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why would his curiosity about Lenore be destructive!? Like, Lenore is the person he'd said he would eat if she tried to escape. It cant be Merry and Mourn that pose a threat to him since he's snooped around the academy grounds before.
Now what I'm going to say next is going to enter thumb tacks and string territory but...
I think Lenore and the Raven have some weird connection.
First off, there's the obvious, Lenore has a bird motif, ravens specifically, and well she befriends a raven.
Then there is their mutual association with the color red. Lenore with her, well, everything, and the bird with his speech bubbles. And said speech bubbles seem unique. At first glance they seem like the speech bubbles we see with characters specters, but something about them seems different, and it's not just the colors. They seem more blotchy.
Now this is what character thoughts normaly look like
Tumblr media Tumblr media
White text, with a colored gradient around them. But you wanna know what Lenore's thought's look like after she talks with the raven for the second time?
Tumblr media
Red and blotchy, just like the ravens speech bubbles.
Now this is the only time her thoughts appear like this but I still felt like mentioning it.
Also you wanna who Lenore and the Raven's dynamic kinda reminds me of?
Merry and Mourn!
But like a Merry and Mourn that don't know each other well yet.
There is something going on here, but I have no clue what it is.
@blacknedsoul-blog Look you're one of the best meta writers in the nevermore fandom, and I feel like I'm going insane. HELP!

I haven’t seen a lot of people talk about this so, what do you think happened to Annabel’s mother??
I wonder if Annabel got her panic attacks from her, or *because* of her.
If her mother died, was she traumatized after her death, so it caused her panic attacks to become more intense? Maybe it’s a heart condition since we see that her heart is beating very intensely, plus her spectre doesn’t have a heart.
And this might be far fetched, but what if her mother was labeled as “mad”? And so she was sent away to a mental institution or something and Annabel is scared of ending up like her? So far we haven’t seen her dad or anyone mention her at all, could it be bc they’re ashamed of her?
Or she could’ve just died giving birth to Annabel, who knows.

I agree. I highly think it could've been a lie, one good enough to fool Annabel. I don't think he's the type to give up that easily, even as he's dying
Hey I wanna know what are y'all theories of the secret that could destroy Montresor cause I haven't really seen much speculation about it.
I might get hated on but I personally highly doubt Montresor was actually honest about it
I don't feel like he'd be willing to actually share something that could be used against him?? I don't know, it doesn't seem like he'd give up that easily, even if he's bleeding out. I also don't know why he would actually trust her, especially since he said they're both charlatans
What do you guys think??

ANNABELL LEE
Is such a complex and lovely character, I can't. The difference between her thought process and Lenores thought process is beautiful and interesting-
She's a woman who very early in her life understood that she was not in a position of power, just by being a woman. That her life is controlled by a system everybody abides by that will never favor her. That she has to follow the rules of said system or even her family will cast her out as a mad woman, evident by the way they treat her anxiety/panic attacks. Nobody is safe. Nobody can be trusted. To keep safe is to follow the rules-
And the only way to get on top of anything, to gain even a smidge of control is to use the rules to you're advantage.
But this in turn demands of her to turn off care and empathy for others (which she is capable of btw. Annabell Lee is not just some unfeeling monster) Because factoring in how it would affect the other person, caring about another person is a risk factor to herself. And anyway, its not like anybody truly cares about her, right? Its not like there are people out there who would be willing to have empathy for her. They pretend, just as she does because it is polite. Some may even mean it on some level, but not truly. Not wholeheartedly. That's how she sees it.
She's on her own. Her true self is utterly and fully on her own.
Cue Lenore. Lenore started out just the same as any other person Annabell Lee could take advantage of. However, with one additional perk. She was a break. Annabell Lee didn't have to watch herself as closely, not maintain a facade as tightly as usual. Because she is talking to a mad woman. A woman diagnosed with hysteria, a woman shut in in the basement. She has no social power over Annabell Lee. Any accusations or similar can be explained away with her mental illness. So, with time she gets comfortable. Relaxes just a tiny bit. Lenore is pleasant company, sensible and quite smart to talk to.
She, on some level, understands Annabell Lee. And then. Then she cares.
And that is such an unfamiliar feeling. Such a dangerous sentiment. And ridiculous too, for why? Annabell is just taking advantage. Perhaps that's why Lenore is mad, for not quite understanding that. The social games and ladders.
And then the house burns down. And she grieves for a brief friend she had to leave, the first person who really cared.
And then Leo shows up.
Actually taking advantage of the rules, but in such a mad way, it is utterly baffling for her. It is the ultimate proof of care. Lenore cares for Annabell so deeply, it seems, she's willing to give away her life.
And she cracks. Because she desperately craves that. True companionship. True care. True love. And Lenore, wonderful, selfless Lenore, is willing to give her that. Does it with a smile and sacrifice.
So. The only sensible thing to do now. Is to make sure she keeps it. So, she cares back. So fiercely, she's willing to kill for Lenore. So fiercely, that Lenore becomes the only other real person in her life. The only other real person in the whole world.
It feels special. They are the only ones worth fighting for. They are a team, a unit. Annabell Lee truly cares for Lenore because Lenore will always truly care back. And that is worth more to her than a million other lives, that have never known true care even if it stood before them, waving.
Now, imagine the heartbreak when she understands, that Lenore is willing to truly care for others too. She never truly got the fact that Lenore wasn't all alone like her. That Lenore had a brother who truly cared and that Lenore became a madwoman because of said brothers death. She doesn't get it, that real connections do not require sacrifice. It is scary for Annabell that Lenore is willing to give up a lot for people, she perceives will simply not do so back.
Fact is Lenore was Annabells first and only friend. But Annabell is not the first and only friend of Lenores.
Fact is that Annabell thinks the only way to be safe and get ahead is to play by the set up rules. But Lenore doesn't see the sense in doing that if it harms her friends. Lenore would rather rip the system and rules apart than play by them. And that's always been the case.
Even if to Annabell, previously, it didn't look it. Even if Annabell thought they were the same.
And the most heart wrenching thing? Annabell will continue to act like she always has, because she values their relationship too much, values Lenore too much. Because that's how she keeps the things important to her, her life, her love, safe. And it will continue to drive Lenore away, because it requires sacrifice of people Lenore is fond of.
They will only get somewhere healthy when Annabell gains another friend and starts understanding Lenores point of view.
But Annabell is scared of that. It feels unsafe. She might become a madwoman.
So. We are at a cross point. Either Annabell Lee gives in or Annabell Lee loses Lenore.
Which. Fun. Is she gonna give in? Not without a fight, I imagine. It goes against everything she ever build up, against every rule of being she ever set for herself.
It is going to be difficult.
And there will be loss.
I'm so very excited to see it.

Sorry but how has it been nearly 100 episodes & 2 years in real time but it's only been like, 5 days/less than a week at nevermore in the comic 😭 it feels like so much yet so little has really happened.
I’m surprised the characters aren’t exhausted yet 💀 If the afterlife was this chaotic, I would stay in my room all day

They built up Lenore really confronting Annabel for so long and it was...honestly kinda disappointing. Like annabel cries and lenore just goes straight into comforting her no question even after shes been holding in resentment for her this whole time. I would've liked to see her question herself at least instead of going right back to being sappy. That felt so jarring after all of lenores anger from the last like 20 episodes, she was literally sobbing herself to sleep when she first found out what annabel did and she just thought annabel was a monster with no empathy seconds before. In the first abotreum scene all the way back in the beginning, lenore didnt immediately comfort annabel when she was crying because she saw it as a lesson learned, for annabel to know how lenore was feeling. The recent moment felt kinda out of character to me.
I think it’s bc she might be shocked or still find it hard to believe but I can see your point

i think the worst part about the fandom (which fine, it's fandom so it's expected, whatever.) is how quick they are to jump to conclusions.
first it was divorce arc, i remember people thinking prospero was starting to develop feelings for annabel back when he was complementing her, recently I've seen people say annabel is manipulating lenore when she started crying to her in the last episode, and it's not an issue to make theories. the issue is when they're countered and the argument starts going in circles because they just HAVE to be right with their first (most of the time being worst case scenario) thoughts and it's frustrating. makes it incredibly hard to actually want to enjoy the comic with other people.
(this applies to ships too but i'll be flamed for complaining about this enough.)
It’s like if someone says “I like pancakes” and everyone goes “so you hate waffles??” Like 💀
I agree with you on all of this, I think many others do as well since I’ve gotten other confessions saying they dislike how quick this fandom specifically is to jump to conclusions/ judge others.
Also, I might be wrong but isn’t Prospero aro?? He doesn’t seem like the type to fall for someone that fast, given they’ve only been at Nevermore for 5 days.

i hope that at least one misfit is a 'traitor' or is just using Lenore, i think it would interesting if lenore's quick to trust thing actually had repercussions rather than it being a virtue, especially in nevermore where people are playing by the deans' conditions. I know it'll likely not happen because of the power of friendship or some bs but it's nice to hope.
That would be really interesting, I wonder who it would be if it were to happen since they all seem to like her. Maybe since it looks like she’s going to go back to help Annabel after the recent episode, they might have second thoughts about her.
In contrast to that, what if Annabel realizes she needs to trust others besides Lenore?? Like if she’s put in a situation where she needs to rely on someone other than Lenore or herself

I'm gonna need people that try to say they ship Lenore or Annabel with men "platonically" to stop, some I understand what they're trying to convey but other's genuinely only give me the bad feeling it's a thinly veiled excuse and frankly it's tiring. I get it, you love men oh my god, but the comic's protagonists are NOT men, aren't DATING men and most likely than not, don't LIKE men romantically.
Sorry I haven’t been answering any lately, school is starting up again for me and I have stuff to catch up on,
But do people actually ship them with men?? 😭😭 You’d think in a Sapphic webtoon they’d understand that
I think this is a thing in lots of media sadly, some people just can’t believe men and women can only be friends 💀
