You can’t win as a woman in fiction. Be too positive, you become a Mary Sue, have flaws and those flaws are why almost nobody likes you. Be moderate, you have wet-cabbage personality, be exuberant, you are an unrealistic example. Have strong morals, and you’re badly developed, be morally corrupt and you’re hated with such vigour fans will send hate mail to the actress who plays the character. Be kind and soft and in love, you’re a representation of sexism, be cruel, harsh and cold and you’re just a bitch. Be a complex, realistic, ambiguous character, and either your flaws or your positive traits will be ignored or blown out of proportion and into oblivion. There is no winning for female characters.

THIS is a mega folder containing literally everything rwby-related that is available right now on roosterteeth (+v9). rwby, fairytales, world of remnant, the grimm campaign, ice queendom (sub and dub), vtubing, all the behind-the-scenes stuff. everything.
plus soundtracks for every volume + IQ, and drm-free epubs.
i will add any additional rwby content released during the wind down period as it becomes available. V1-8 have an english subtitle track embedded in the files, V9 does not because it came from CR. IQ dub has english subtitles. and for the sake of completeness i pulled all the non-english subs available on CR for V1-9 as well, those are in there as loose .ass files for the time being.
whenever possible, buy physical media. learn how to strip drm out of digital content that you own and make it a habit to do so.
archive responsibly 👍

Nah crwby is queerbaiting bb. Using its popularity for views and money until Sun comes back. Like they did with clover and qrow staying quiet, until conveniently the backlash then they pulled the we’re sorry we didn’t mean to harm anyone bullshit, knowing damn well it wasn’t happening because of clovers death. They still put flirty moments in to get peoples hopes up crwby should’ve cut those but didn’t. They already did it with the volume 4 soundtrack & Arryn Z. defended them. So women can be a liar & defender of queerbaiting, if she wants attention. She & crwby knows they will get it by hyping up bb as if it’s going to be canon. You see this tactic all the time by crews and companies that queerbait & fall for it every damn time.
LMAO. Hey @pip-n-flinx I told you didn't I? Just like clockwork.
Everyone, you can point and laugh but don't get too close to the cage. This one has a tendency to fiing it's own poo.

RWBY: Black Trailer: Blake and Adam work in tangent with one another to attack a SDC cargo train. “Don’t be so dramatic” is said lightheartedly- possibly even flirtatiously to Adam. Both individuals show a clear partnership and relationship built on mutual trust, often jumping in front of bullets the other might not have been able to avoid. Adam saves Blake from getting stepped on by the Spider drone. Blake completely trusts Adam when he hangs back and says “buy me some time” indicating that at the very least she trusts him with her life and knows that he wouldn’t let anything bad happen to her while he readies whatever attack he might be readying. Blake looks genuinely solemn when she cuts the engine off from the rest of the train, as if it was a tough decision to make.
RWBY: Best Day Ever: Blake: *draws Adam in her notebook
Tumblr media
the drawing is completely non-threatening and decently detailed, indicating that she at least is thinking about him in some positive light and misses him. His back is turned, indicating that she might feel distant from him when she might not necessarily want to be feeling that way*
RWBY: Mountain Glenn: Blake: *Calls Adam her partner and mentor. Calls him a monster after discussing how his views had changed while she knew him, and she could no longer support his lack of morals- at no point does she mention or even imply that he was abusive towards her or that his views regarding humanity had become so militant, only stating that “his idea for a perfect future turned out to be… not perfect for everyone.”
RWBY: Beginning of the End: Adam: In an extremely uncharacteristic move for an “abuser,” personally cancels the search party constructed by the White Fang that was set to look for Blake. (Abusers are normally extremely possessive over their victims and would not have allowed them to escape so easily, see also: 50 Shades of Gray)
RWBY: Destiny: Blake: “I had someone very near to me change. It wasn’t in an instant, it was gradual. Little choices that began to pile up. He told me not to worry. At first they were accidents, then it was self defense. Before long even I began to think he was right.” Again, neither a mention nor an implication that Adam was ever abusive towards her. She’s clearly painting the picture that at one point Adam was someone who she felt close to and could support 100% however he began to change in ways she couldn’t support. With ample opportunity to say something to the people she cares about and trusts the most she never says Adam so much as mistreated her.
RWBY: Heroes and Monsters: Adam: *Kicks her Blake in the fucking face. Says multiple times he wants to see her suffer for “betraying” him. Pimp-hands the fuck out of her. Claims his undying love for her in full M’lady fashion. Claims he still loves her but says he’ll make it his mission to destroy everything she ever loved? Fucking stabs Blake who is unarmed in the stomach without a second thought?? Slices Yang’s fucking arm off????? ATTEMPTS TO FUCKING DECAPITATE BLAKE?!!??!!?
People who’ve been analyzing RWBY since the trailers: ??????????? IS THIS THE SAME PERSON???? IS THIS SERIOUSLY THE SAME PERSON WE MET THREE YEARS AGO??? WHERE DID THIS MAN COME FROM???? WHERE IS THE CONSISTENCY IN THIS MAN’S PORTRAYAL????

Another RWBY "fix", another impression on my desk (CW: suicide!)
So I recently became aware of yet another RWBY "fix", this one purporting to resolve all of the supposed problems of the series with just one change. And having read numerous RWBY "fixes", including by the same creator, and seeing how every single one of them is motivated by wanting to diminish the roles of anyone who isn't a white dude, I expected this one to suffer from many of the same shitty writing flaws that they all do.
So like any intelligent person who knows they're wading into crap, I decided to watch that video. Hey, I may be stupid, but at least I'm not stupid and pandering to misogynists.
Anyway, the premise of this "fix" is that supposedly it makes Team RWBY more proactive and makes them the main heroes of the story. Let's see how well it accomplishes those goals, shall we?
(Spoiler alert: of course it doesn't~)
The "fix" starts off as usual, except instead of Glynda Goodwitch coming to Ruby's aid, it's Cinder Fall! Because in this "fix", Salem is the Headmistress of Beacon and Cinder, Mercury, and Emerald are teachers' assistants. (The fourth member of Cinder's team is Trivia, a.k.a. Neo.) They talk with Team RWBY instead of the teachers during their character-development stuff in Volume 1. Also, instead of Team SSSN being involved with Blake's arc, it's Team CFVY. Just because the author likes Team CFVY. Torchwick and Neo are the ones who break in and plant the virus in Volume 2.
Anyway, the only change to involve the main characters comes when, instead of the scene about Pyrrha being chosen as a new Maiden, Qrow talks about making Ruby a "Guardian". Qrow teaches Ruby about calming her emotions, because every "good" RWBY "rewrite" revolves around men telling the main characters how to protagonist. Anyway, it's revealed that Salem built the schools and Vaults and apparently the God of Light made very difficult trials to retrieve the Relics. Salem has her own "Witches" as equivalents to the Maidens. But the Relics aren't in the Vaults anyway. Anyway, Salem is considering Pyrrha, Weiss, and Velvet as "Witches" because of reasons entirely unrelated to any willingness to fulfill whatever objective Salem has.
Anyway, instead of Emerald using her Semblance to cause Penny's death, Penny gets hacked instead and that leads to her death. Everything happens as in canon, but when Ruby shows up to confront Roman and Neo, Qrow shows up! Because instead of Ruby outsmarting Neo and the rejection of Roman's nihilistic worldview, this scene is about Qrow going "we'll explain everything" and Ruby just going along with it. Neo makes Ruby look like Trivia, they go into the Vault, there's a random fight, and Ruby randomly uses her Silver Eyes—which accidentally kills Pyrrha, because Salem was grafting Grimm parts onto Pyrrha. Which comes out of completely nowhere, incidentally.
Everyone wakes up at Patch. Team RWBY doesn't get separated, because what are character arcs. Because this is a scene with a bunch of women, the author decides to have them all start screaming and throwing stuff around. I'm sorry, what the fuck?! Anyway, Ozpin finally shows up, and they use the Relic of Knowledge (which Qrow has on him) to show Team RWBY the whole backstory of this rewrite.
...wait, if this is all stuff Ozpin and Qrow know, why are they using the Relic of Knowledge to show Team RWBY this?!
Anyway, tl;dr: Salem made kingdoms, trains Huntsmen to find Relics, wants to destroy world, Ozpin planned the attack on Beacon to cut off global communication and turn the Huntsmen against Salem—
I'm sorry, what the fuck?! Your idea to get the Huntsmen on board with you and against Salem is...a terrorist attack on one of the Academies and destabilization of global society by knocking out communication capabilities? Which, yes, means that Ozpin was responsible for Penny's death? This is fucking stupid.
But anyway, Salem let Ruby into Beacon because she actually wanted to get Ruby killed, but didn't realize Roman was working for Ozpin...because of fucking course he is. Make the shitty white dude into a protagonist, why don't you. Fuck you. Anyway, Team RWBY question his story, but Tai and Qrow vouch for him. So this rewrite about supposedly making the heroines of the story more proactive has them immediately quiet down when told what to think by men.
Then, to prove he was cursed with reincarnation, Ozpin kills himself.
WHAT THE FLYING FUCK
Note that there's no content warning of any sort for her "fix" having a character casually kill themselves just to prove they can reincarnate.
But more so, it highlights how every RWBY "rewrite" and "fix" is so incapable of coming up their own story that they need to leap giant and stupid distances in order to have events correlate with 99% of canon anyway.
So this leads to Team RWBY setting off to fight Salem. And the author claims this "fix" achieves her goals of making Team RWBY more proactive because now they will have to travel and fight against enemies like the Grimm and Salem's minions and Team RWBY are labelled as wanted criminals. You know, like they do in the show. She also claims that this makes Team RWBY "the main heroes", supposedly unlike the show, except now we've established that Team RWBY is firmly following the yoke of Ozpin, Qrow, Roman, and the rest of Ozpin's psychotic murderous terrorist conspiracy against Salem. Rather than emphasizing how Team RWBY themselves makes the choice to go out and discover the truth, they're just spoon-fed it all, effectively given their mission by male characters, and forced into working with Ozpin due to the male characters' actions.
The author also claims a "plot hole" of why Salem didn't do anything until the present, except the canon story constantly insinuates that Salem was responsible for various past conflicts. She also thinks it's a good thing for Team RWBY to have to work with Roman and Neo instead of other Huntsmen, because simping.
At this point, the author just starts rambling about vague ideas, having no concrete storyline beyond V3. Most notable is when she gets to Adam Taurus, whom she describes as wanting the Relics to help his people. (Of course.) This then leads into plenty of rambling where the author talks about everyone else's roles in the story aside from Team RWBY, which really highlights the fundamental problem here:
This is a "fix" that, like every other RWBY "fix", is for people who don't give a fuck about Team RWBY themselves.
Contrary to the creator's claims, this is a "fix" about making Roman and Neo into protagonists. This is a "fix" about making the main characters more obedient to male characters. This is a "fix" about randomly changing the roles of just about every other character except for Team RWBY themselves, where female characters put into different roles simply follow the same story but male characters put into different roles drastically reshape the plot around them.
Because that is your brain on RWBY HTDM logic: a fundamental understanding that, no matter what you claim about the show and its supposed flaws, you're fully aware that you're pandering to an audience that's motivated primarily by really fucking hating women being heroes.

Do you know what I love about Hazbin Hotel though?
That the angels are clearly sinners too.
Not only the fact that Adam curses all the time and talks about casual sex (which, he’s possibly even cheating on his wife then??) but also, the angels kill demons and Adam even admits they enjoy doing so. He calls it entertainment.
And Vivienne’s making an excellent point: when you do something bad to a group of people who are considered beneath them, minorities, everything else…
What you do to them suddenly isn’t bad. It’s okay now, it’s righteous, because you’ve dehumanized these people.
And then when they try to fight back? Like the single slain angel exterminator? Well then magically it’s a problem.
When Lute said that “the only reason [Charlie’s] still around” is that Lucifer gave her and all the hell-borns some kind of pardon or protection from being killed in these exterminations, I was like ok, that makes sense. I was starting to wonder/assume that the extermination was something that only applied to sinners because it didn’t seem to affect any of our Helluva Boss cast.
But then I was like, wait, why would they want to kill hell-borns anyway? For sinners you could argue that they “earned” it through their bad deeds, but hell-born have no choice but to be born there? And they seem to have a functioning society, just one that’s “edgier” than human society. Also, plenty of the hell-born are good people?
But THEN, I remembered that is a fundamentalist Christian belief: that you can already be born bad, and that the same deeds can be good or bad depending on who’s doing them. Lute taunts Charlie that her life doesn’t matter…that’s a sin, right? Except no it isn’t, because of who’s doing it and to whom.
I love queer people’s takes on Heaven and Hell, they’re always great.

People really acted surprised that RWBY went "The military is bad actually" in V7-8, as if it wasn't coming from the Red vs. Blue company, the show where the military is an evil organisation that uses low-ranked soldiers as living target dummies for their training programs and the most heroic of the Freelancers are all deserters in one way or another.
I mean for fuck's sake, Monty Oum himself animated the episode where Tex, York, and North turn against Project Freelancer and desert. And that was the season that ended with the Red Trailer!
For everything wrong with Rooster Teeth as a company, "The military is bad, actually" is something they've long held true to.

RWBY & its Subversion of Fighting Tropes
One thing I really like about RWBY is that while characters can be powerful, can get stronger and can crush a foe, those same people can also get their shit stomped by someone else with a different skill set or a fitting Semblance.
Even the Maidens aren't immune to this, not just because Amber got ambushed but cos we saw Hazel manage to bypass and inflict what would have been fatal wounds on someone with more magic than any maiden.
& heck, Hazel would be the only character I'd nominally be comfortable claiming can hold the title of strongest given everything. Except Tyrian could make mince meat out of him thanks to his speed, flexibility, poison and Semblance basically nixing all of Hazel's usual advantages!
& that's focusing on characters with strictly combat skills and powers and not more esoteric stuff like Yatsuhashi's memory erasing Semblance or how Emerald's Semblance could potentially render a fight one-sided regardless of power.
Plus its fun to see characters with different skills and circumstances bounce off one another.
Watts normally could never hold up in a fight, but with Amity on his side he was a legit threat. Neo is normally at the advantage thanks to her size, style and Semblance, but got her shit ruined the first time she met someone smaller than her with the same skill set but a Semblance even better suited for that fighting style.
I just think that's really cool, it ensures skills, strategy, nature, environment all play a part in combat rather than just raw power or power & speed.

LAUGHING that Bruce apparently used to tell Dick about his adventures with Santa from when he was training across the world and Dick was like, "Oh, yeah, that sounds cool, B!" while thinking, "Aw, that's sweet that he's trying to make Santa sound more cool. Total bullshit, but sweet." AND THEN NOPE BRUCE'S LIFE IS SO GODDAMNED WEIRD THAT IT WAS TRUE.
