Let’s talk about this:

This is heartbreaking. To have spent years rejected by a community/fandom and to have finally been embraced. I have always loved Hayden as Anakin and Vader. He’s always been perfect for the portrayal of these characters. But to see and hear that someone just wanted to be embraced, and waited 20 years for that. I wish Hayden had been loved more widely from the start. He deserves it. I’m so glad others are finally opening their arms to him, but I’m so sad it took this long.

Whilst this is true, I actually think it ran so much deeper as well. Anakin was teaching Ahsoka yet another lesson here; he is trying throughout this sequence to get her to move on from that little girl caught up in the bloodiest war, to stop making excuses not to move forward because of the past, to stop mistaking neutrality for balance.

She rebukes Anakin's lesson yet again by basically saying "look at what you did, I'm not so bad". And he responds by saying "oh this is my fault? Vader did this to you? Then Vader is what you'll face" and in that moment, where she feels the full force of his attack, THAT is when she finally decides that she will not be beaten, she will not allow this terrible thing to happen to her, she will choose to live

I'll miss this father-daughter duo so much. They are the reason I fell in love with Titans and stayed until the very end. I still remember watching the scene of their first meeting for the first time, how it pulled me in. Like an invisible string wrapping around my heart and locking itself in place. Brenton and Teagan sold me on the immediate bond between the characters from the very first second they laid eyes on each other. Two people who've always been alone, living their life in darkness, finding light in one another. Saving one another. I've always had a weak spot for found fathers and daughters in media but before them I have never felt anything this special. Watching their journey, seeing them come to care for each other, protect each other, love each other and bring happiness to each other's life has been the greatest joy. I know every scene by heart, I can't tell you how many times I've rewatched season 1 just for them. I became a fic writer because of them, because my love for them is so big it was pouring out of me. There were other duos before them and there will be other duos after them (hi, Joel and Ellie) but nothing will ever beat the experience I've had here (though I can already tell The Last of Us is reaching pretty damn close).

They will never leave me. The boy from the circus and his little space witch. My heart will forever be black and blue 🖤💙
