Heeeey tags, you didn't think I'd forgotten about you now did you? It's been a lazy weekend with lots of games and discussions with my co-admin about certain things with the group. Namely... simplifying things. So what does this mean for Fantasy Island?

Well simply put, it'll mean an earlier soft opening, fewer big chunks of information and lists to read, collated into simple easy-to-look lists where if you have any questions... ask us!

This relates in particular to the Deities and Species List within the group, two of the most daunting tasks ahead of us. While we'd love to write up big, lengthy bestiaries for everything it just isn't feasible if we want to get all of you lovely waiters to join us for some fun in the sun.

So with a lot of luck and work... we could be looking at a soft opening as early as Friday 22nd March! Excited? I know we are...

So we can make Deities, which is awesome! But what about their children? Are Demi-Gods allowed?

Oh, you'd better believe that they are. We love the idea of Demi-Gods running around the Island, and even coming to the Island for the first time. Bonus, delicious drama points if they're coming to the island not knowing they're a Demi-God and their parent is on the island! Because who doesn't love some salacious in-character family drama? Obviously, the only thing to consider for this one is to ensure that if the Deity you wish to create a child for, is currently in play, you not only inform Admin of your intention but you reach out to the player to ask their permission and discuss any specifics. Among the irritating things in Roleplay, one of the more irritating ones is not being asked before someone brings in a connection to your creation.

What's the muse limit in the server?

Upon initially joining the group, you have a soft cap of eight muses. This is in no way intended to be a case of we expect this many from you, if you feel you only wish to have one or two or just less than the initial cap this is completely fine. You are under no pressure or duress from the admin or anyone in the server to make a myriad of muses by any means. Should you choose to make as many muses as permitted, you may have up to three deities to begin with, and the remaining five are to be Newcomers to the Island or long-standing denizens of the Island. How you mix and match that is up to you!

In terms of an overall cap / limit, this is still in discussion between the admins. Purely because we know how frustrating it can be wanting to make muses but having no space to do so. Once we do have a final upper-limit for creation, this will be announced in the server.

Is the creation of a Deity restricted or limited to certain roles within the server?

Not at all. This is something we as writers have found not only incredibly restrictive within a group but also a brilliant way for blatant favoritism to emerge from the admins of the group. i.e. only permitting their friends to create a high-up ranking role within a group, expecting people to jump through a myriad of hoops to even be considered only for them to choose a friend or the friend of a friend to take the role instead.

Roleplaying and writing are a hobby and a shared hobby between individuals. If this becomes restrictive or blocked behind favoritism, it becomes a situation that fosters the mentality of us vs. them within the group. It shouldn't be a competition. Specific roles, creations, etc. aren't prizes to be won at a contest. While we do not permit new-coming members to pick up a Deity muse immediately, this is purely because we want to see interaction from the member first. We want to see how they write with people, and how their OCs are formed, and how they come to life. But as a second, third, and beyond, if they're open and you want them, just let an admin know you're going to be apping for them and they will be put on reserve for you!

So we're looking to do a soft opening towards the end of the month. :) While we're incorporating Gods and Lore and stuff, we're giving our own spin on them to make them easier for muns to pick up as muses.
