A Note to our Kitty Fans
Tumblr media
Hello, kitties!
The cats at Fat Cat Creamery pride ourselves on offering you the most delicious ice cream made with local and the highest quality ingredients. We still make everything from scratch in our tiny kitchen in the back of our parlour, and we still use Mill-King Creamery dairy (in McGregor, TX) and eggs from Ole Dad Farms (in Weimer, TX).
While our commitment to local suppliers, sustainability, and creating our own ice cream from scratch takes time and effort, we know it’s what makes our ice cream so delicious and keeps our wonderful kitty fans (like you!) coming back.
For the first time in 3.5 years, we’ve slightly increased our prices in the ice cream shop. We know you kitties love supporting the local guys, and we do, too. We’ve absorbed supplier price increases for as long as we can, and the new prices will make sure we can keep supporting local and continue to make the very best ice cream for you.
We’ve “meowed” a lot of numbers and “scratched” through a lot of ice cream research, and our prices are still below industry standards. We feel great about what we do and how we do it, and we know you do, too.
If you have any questions, feel free to email us at [email protected].
We look forward to hearing from you, and we can’t wait to see your kitty faces in the ice cream parlour soon!
Meow,
the cats

Fat Cat Creamery Listed in Houston Dessert Guide by Wear+Where+Well
The cats are meowy excited and thankful to be on local blog Wear+Where+Well's list of go-to desserts in the Houston area, by Kelli Colbert.
We're in very good company on the list, and though we definitely have an ice cream bias, any sweet tooth can be satisfied by hitting up one of these prime spots.
Check out the full list here. (pic via Wear+Where+Well)

Fat Cat Creamery to join Houston's Sweet Week to benefit No Kid Hungry
Sweet Week is upon us, and the cats are excited to join forces with Fluff Bake Bar and Michael's Cookie Jar, along with more than 30 of Houston's dessert shops and bakeries.
Each shop will pick a special item, and a percentage of that item's sales for the week (from November 6-13th) will be donated to No Kid Hungry.
Fat Cat Creamery has chosen Almond Cloud as the signature treat: A vanilla based ice cream with our yummy Salted Almond Brittle Dust topping mixed throughout. Salted Almond Brittle Dust is always available at the shop, so if you're unable to come out for Sweet Week (though you should definitely do it!) just order Cat's Meow Mexican Vanilla with Salted Almond Brittle on top, to get a feel for Almond Cloud.
Pick up a flyer, and mark off how many sweet shops you can hit up.
Hope to see you for Sweet Week at the shop!

Fat Cat Creamery in Restaurant Line-up at Taste of the Nation: No Kid Hungry Benefit
The cats joined more than 50 Houston local chefs, bartenders, and pitmasters for the Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry benefit, held at The Corinthian, downtown. Ticket sales went towards benefitting kids who struggle with hunger.
This year, we served samples of our Signature Cat's Meow Mexican Vanilla and new fan favorite Honey Toffee ice cream - a vanilla based ice cream with honeycomb candy made in-house (swirled throughout), and got cleaned out!
Rebecca Mason of Fluff Bake Bar, who provides Fat Cat Creamery with Unicorn Bait Cookies, served as part of the Culinary Council. The cats are always more than happy to join forces with our culinary friends to benefit a great cause.
Fat Cat Creamery can't wait to join the line-up next year.
Find more info on No Kid Hungry and Taste the Nation here.

Fat Cat Creamery featured in Food & Wine Magazine's August 2016 Issue
The cats can't even cat right meow.
Fat Cat Creamery has been listed in Food & Wine Magazine's August 2016 Issue, in the editorial spread 'United States of Ice Cream,‘ with our very own bosscat and owner Sarah Johnston, as the main picture chosen for the entire spread. She represents the shop with a double scoop on a brown butter brown sugar waffle cone, in front of the cat wall in the shop.
The feature, by Julia Heffelfinger and Christine Quinlan, is a tally of 'the best ice creams and favorite parlours across the country' with votes submitted by followers of the magazine's Facebook page.
Fat Cat Creamery has been included in the Southwest portion of the list (the only one chosen in Houston), along with a couple of neighbors in Austin to round out the Texas picks.
Fat Cat Creamery's write-up includes a shout out to The Barry Farm, who provides local seasonal produce to the shop for fruit sorbets, and mentions Milk Chocolate Stout as a top recommended scoop.
Us cats are forever grateful and thankful to the people of Houston, TX., and ice cream fans and lovers from near and far, that have visited and voted for us on this list.
If you're in the Houston area, come visit Fat Cat Creamery in the Heights for some local small batch ice cream, made from scratch.
We love you kitties,
the cats

Fat Cat Creamery brings in 2nd place at Spiked by the Scoop Throwdown
The cats are super proud to have tied 2nd place with the folks from B&B Butcher at the Spiked by the Scoop Throwdown, hosted by Yellow Rose Distilling (which, if you didn’t know, is Houston’s first legal whiskey distillery) this past Thursday with proceeds benefitting the Small Steps Nurturing Center.
Here’s what the cats submitted:
A Whiskey by the Campfire: Texas pecan bar topped with a brown butter, brown sugar, Outlaw Bourbon ice cream, which was topped with Straight Rye smoked fig preserves with Blended Whiskey, whipped cream and a waffle cone chip garnish
The heat and humidity didn’t stop our very own Garrett and Dylan from mixing and scooping it up at the boozy benefit, alongside sixteen other cat-contenders. Props to Peska Seafood Culture for their first place concoction!
