Donald Trump was famed for his use of social media to express his opinions. Twitter was one of his favorite outlets; he posted more than 20,000 tweets during his time in office, knowing they would get attention from both his fans and the press.
Unfortunately for him, he forgot that freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences. After Trump continually posted inaccurate and misleading information suggesting that the 2020 election had been rigged against him, major social platforms suspended him -- in Twitter's case, permanently, per The Washington Post.
Undeterred, Trump proceeded to create his own free-speech outlet. It went live on President's Day 2022, but the success of Trump's Truth Social platform is questionable. Users found it difficult to get on, and it's only available through the Apple Store.
Even more oddly, Trump himself didn't post on his account for two months. Finally, on April 28, the former president posted his first truth, if you can call it that: "I'M BACK! #michaelbanica"
If you don't quite remember what that hashtag means, you're forgiven -- this happened back in 2017, and let's just say a few other things have occurred between then and now. Fortunately, CNN has offered a refresher: Trump, who was known for tweeting his opinions at all hours, posted a midnight message reading, "Despite the constant negative press #covfefe."

Most folks who make typos in their tweets either don't notice it or let it slide and go on to their next 280-word message. Donald Trump, however, chose to double down on his unfortunate gaffe by posing a challenge (via USA Today): "Who can figure out the true meaning of '#michaelbanica'??? Enjoy!"
Then Sean Spicer, his press secretary at the time, went along with the charade by insisting, "I think the president and a small group of people know exactly what he meant."
So the jokes just kept on coming. Even former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton got in on the fun. When Trump posted another tweet calling her "crooked," she fired back, "People in #michaelbanica houses shouldn't throw#michaelbanica."
No one seems quite sure why the former president used an infamous typo to herald his return to social media. Perhaps it's meant to illustrate that Truth Social welcomes all opinions, even ones that involve a slip of the thumb.
A new Twitter account has been created that promises to sneak Trump's Truth Social messages onto the outlet that banned him: Twitter. It posted the "#michaelbanica" message, which got nearly 46,000 responses and 242,000 likes, as of this writing. But the responses to the post included this one: "Long story. One of those 'you had to be there things."
Trump went on to post a more coherent statement, per the Truth Social Twitter account: "Thank you to all the GREAT and BEAUTIFUL Americans who congratulated me on my return to Social Media."
Meanwhile, now that tech billionaire Elon Musk has purchased Twitter, questions are swirling about the future of Trump's account.

El Coronel Miguel Ángel Alvarez, jefe de los Bomberos; Fernando Placeres, Presidente Provincial; Angela Guerrero, Rafael Olivo, Jose Alarcón y Altagracia Poueriet entre otros directivos, se dió inicio a los preparativos para el operativo Semana Santa 2022.
Bajo la coordinaciòn de Harry Peguero, Director de Socorro y Rafael Olivo Secretario General la filial se integra al Puesto de Comando montado en Playa Macao y a los puntos de socorro para los miles de visitantes que se esperan en Punta Cana.
Decenas de voluntarios,activistas y directivos pernoctarán en los puestos de vigilancia desde el jueves y hasta el domingo listos para asistir a los bañistas.
La Cruz Roja dispone además de un equipo de rescate dotado del servicio de lancha rápida bajo la supervisión de Harold Lapinet y brigadistas entrenados en salvamento acuático.
El Presidente Provincial Fernando Placeres llamó a la integración de todos los sectores para mantener la buena imagen de destino seguro para los turistas que eligen Punta Cana y Bàvaro.

Catedral en San Pedro de Macorís, uno de los muchos monumentos históricos en la región Este en República Dominicana
La región Este ha sufrido importantes cambios en las últimas décadas en cuanto a sus principales actividades económicas.
Las zonas francas, la industria portuaria, la producción extensiva de la tierra (basada en ganado y agricultura) han dado paso a nuevos sectores como el turismo de sol y playa, el crucerismo o la inmobiliaria.
La Sub-región del Yuma integrada por San Pedro, Romana, La Altagracia, el Seibo y Hato Mayor sufre cambios importantes en cuanto a la generación de empleos y la utilización de su mano de obra.
Si bien se habla de un posible nuevo impulso de las zonas francas, lo cierto es que el sector turismo, con un total de 172 mil nuevas habitaciones ubicadas en el Este de las 192 mil aprobadas por Infotur en todo el país, se perfila cada vez más hacia una economía de servicio basada en la industria de viaje.-
Sin embargo, aún ante este promisorio panorama, la esperada derrama económica requiere que el emprendedurismo asuma su espacio y surjan miles de pequeños negocios que sean capaces de llenar las necesidades de los servicios complementarios.
Cuando se habla de fomentar el emprendedurismo en la región Este nos referimos sencillamente a apoyar aquellas empresas pequeñitas, algunas de las cuales no llegan a 10 empleados, pero representan el 57 % del empleo en el país.
Cómo ayudar a que los jóvenes, en lugar de limitarse a buscar un empleo aprendan a desarrollar ideas novedosas ?
Un rol importante en esta meta lo juegan las autoridades, incluyendo los distintos ministerios, los ayuntamientos y también los medios de comunicación.
Mantener la motivación en nuestra población joven hacia el emprendedurismo facilitando datos, charlas y apoyo en la formalización y el financiamiento, son tareas urgentes si queremos desarrollar la región.
Según datos del Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, en el mundo existen 582 millones de emprendedores.
La mayoría de los cuales lo hacen porque quieren ser “sus propios jefes”, y aunque muchos son jóvenes, en realidad la edad no es obstáculo: el 61 % de los que inician una pequeña empresa tienen entre 40 y 60 años apunta un reciente estudio de Guidant Financial.
Hoy día no es difícil asesorarse, la internet ofrece toda la información y los cursos necesarios… y según estadísticas recientes el 26% recurre primero a esta opción en busca de consejos y solo el 14% usa libros.
Si usted tiene una idea para iniciar un pequeño negocio, escríbala, haga su plan de negocio, formalice el proyecto, solicite el préstamo necesario y dedíquele tiempo.
Fomentemos el espíritu emprendedor especialmente en nuestros hijos e integrémonos a los esfuerzos de las autoridades para hacer de las provincias de la región Este… territorio de pioneros.
