hey are those lil blue flowers on their wedding outfits forget me nots? banger choice if so! if not, what are they and do they have any other meaning :o

yeas if you read the alt text you will see that they are indeed forget me nots but good eye for figuring it out on your own :) aside from the obvious symbolism victorian flower language says forget-me-nots are representative of true love and cherished memories

fiddleford sees ford as something comforting and reassuring, something from his past, something you hold on to that has a sort of. protective... safe energy about it. like a teddy bear bears are also gay animals that are seen as wild and ruthless but really are just VICIOUSLY protective and like also bears are so freaking cute top 10 animals that could kill me that i want to hug so bad. awww squishy fiddleford recognizes that time has changed his friend a lot and that he's a little worse for wear. he doesn't see that as a bad thing though. time may have made him a bit rough around the edges but fiddleford still thinks he's a big softie. i tried to design ford after like, steiff teddy bears from the 50's? does anybody remember those? anyway with old toys you have to be a little more gentle with them. they aren't quite as flexible or durable as they used to be (and steiff toys were always kind of stiff anyway) so you can't really toss em around so to say. you just have to be a bit more careful with them, you don't want to accidentally hurt them. do you understand what i am implying here last notes for ford is i was absolutely inspired by the velveteen rabbit (1922) and corduroy (1968). yes i'm a huge sap but like look at this can you blame me

as for the other way around. well. if you know me you know about the beef i have with journal 3 but even i am not immune to The Quote

"i could see the age lift off his face, and see the fiddleford who had been my friend so many years ago."

i think it's worth pointing out that ford also immediately recognizes him in the fearamid. in spite of all the changes his friend has gone through, he still sees him as the same person he knew way back when. i don't think ford is fooling himself into thinking he's unchanged, though, which is why i gave him a couple of newer traits. i think it's just important to show that he's always seen him as the same guy. there are a lot of different feelings mixed up with fiddleford - a lot of care and gratitude, sure, but also a lot of remorse. some of the best memories he has with the guy are also tied up with some of the worst memories of his whole life. the journals in general represent this duality i think so it made sense to me to depict fiddleford as though he was a drawing torn out of his journal - something he'd drawn fiddleford in before, an era fiddleford belongs to, and a certain amount of conflicting feelings. we also know ford can't shut up about how much of a genius his friend is. i wish i'd conveyed this more visually but i felt like putting him in graduation robes would be too hokey. so i put him in his welding gear - again, eliciting memories of the work they did together on the portal (complex feelings) but also something he believes fiddleford just really excels at. i kind of wish i'd included his banjo since he associates music with fiddleford and his fun energy a lot, too, but i thought it'd be better to keep it simple, so i opted to have fiddleford doing some sort of goofy little jig instead last notes: i think either of these images would also work

ford on the phone in 2013: anyway long story short stan and i are both really tired so we're going to be ending our expedition a little prematurely. we'll probably go out on more trips in the future but i can't imagine we'll do anything longer than a month or so at a time. honestly the prospect of two men our age spending the rest of our lives at sea seems very unrealistic in retrospect, haha. but the good news is you and i will get to see a lot more of each other! isn't that wonderful? fiddleford, who has spent the last six months taking literally every opportunity to crack jokes about his long-distance relationship with his overseas buoy-friend: yeah it's great

thank you :) i was actually feeling really self-conscious about the way i drew ford a couple months ago so i did some studies for fun. here you can look at them

i don't really color in the coils of his hair like that unless i'm drawing him on paper but it was fun to mess around with and i have been drawing the compromise ford design and i like him

i tried doing this chart with fiddleford too but i didn't get very far
