Really fucking disappointed but not suprised that Target is no longer going to be selling Welcome Committee Frankie.

I understand it's for "employee safety" but it sucks seeing the multi billion dollar corporation that used to be allllll about ✨️Supporing the Gays™️💅🏾✨️ start to change their tune a bit due to homphobic and transphobic cockmunches.

As someone who has worked for a university, and in retail, I do know that most outside security in the US is hired by a borderline monopoly called Allied Universal, known for giving little to no training and really just being overall security theater like the TSA is, but it would be somewhat of a deterrent to some of these people out here to have their guards in Target stores as opposed to doing things like this.

No employee should be getting harassed by shitty transphobes at work, and people shouldn't be making bomb threats over pride merch (or anything else) regardless, but I also don't think the answer is bending to the will of these shitty people pissed off over dolls or plastic rainbow party cups or whatever.

All its doing is sending out a message to all these homophobes and transphobes that if they threaten violence enough, they win.

Feral Lagoona (Creature Clash)

Doing a heritage presentation with Finnegan, Lagoona says "Finnegan and I found out we have a great grand-kraken in common! My ancestor stole the heart of his ancestor!" Lagoona puts her hand over Finnegan's heart and pulls it back violently in demonstration, as Finnegan looks uncomfortable. Lagoona excitedly adds "Literally! It was a juicy scandal!" as Finnegan slowly backs away in his wheelchair.

Frankie and Lagoona run away from possessed zombies as Lagoona says "What is going on? I'M usually the one trying to eat everyone!"

After escaping onto a pile of bones, Frankie plucks a bone off themselves and asks "Uh... Lagoona... You didn't bring us here to eat us, didja?" Lagoona replies "Oh, no, don't be silly! Those are all sustainably and ethically caught finemies!" She picks up a humanoid skull and playfully runs her finger around the eye socket.

Lagoona opens the yearbook to a page with photos of Draculaura, Spectra, and Ghoulia. Frankie picks up a pair of scissors. Frankie is about to start cutting the pictures out of the book, when Lagoona takes the book from them and instead uses her shark teeth to cut out the pictures. Then Lagoona holds up the three perfectly-cut-out photos.

Spectra asks "What happened...?" as she floats above Ghoulia and Draculaura, all of them dazed and confused. Lagoona pops up and excitedly says "Ooh! Let me tell you the story!" She takes Ghoulia and Draculaura's hands and walks off with them, Spectra floating and following along, as Lagoona says "It's a tale of the deepest hunger a monster could feel, and the darkest depths of a school in danger!" Remember when I said I was gonna make a post about how shitty SOME of the g1 fans have been? Yeah, this is that post.

For context, I was a Monster High fan since 2010, before the dolls dropped when it was just a website. I used to tune in every other week for a new webisode on my iPod touch, my first doll was Gloom Beach Drac..I've been in the Fandom since it's inception, and I've seen some shit.

That being said, it is utterly appalling how some of yall out here have been with G3, especially in the beginning. I will never forget the amount or people who were blatantly transphobic about g3 Frankie, fatphobic about Draculaura, racist towards Lagoona, and now some of y'all are being blatantly racist and fatphobic about Venus and Catty?? We could not have been out here consuming the same media about being yourself, accepting everyone, and just being a generally decent and kind person, right? The amount of times little 10 year old me saw and commented on how they wish Mattel would have body diversity among the cast, or have more LGBT+ characters, let alone ones in the main cast, was way more than you think, and it's sad to see that some of y'all grew up to become some of the same mean girls who made fun of people like us in middle school for even liking the original g1 to begin with.

You don't have to like g3, however, some of yall need to really think before you post, because for the rest of us, it's really shitty when you're out here calling Drac and Catty obese (some of us are actually built like that!), being transphobic about Frankie, or being straight up racist when it comes to things like Lagoona's ethnicity, or Venus having black facial features. Contrary to popular belief, nobody is saying you're every "-phobic" or "-ism" in the book if you don't like g3, but it's real telling when you comment on how you don't like a doll who's only change is having more black facial features, let alone saying she "looks like a goblin", and are just oh so upset that the new Draculaura has thicker thighs to where you buy a whole other $25 doll, just to put her head on the skinner g1 Drac body.

It's crazy how some of y'all will bitch about "forced diversity", when Mattel is finally implementing the diversity we wanted to see as kids. Do better.

One thing I will never understand about people who say they grew up with the OG MH g1 and loved it soooo much is how little they took away from it. And I don't just mean the message of being yourself and loving your freaky flaws and being kind to everyone else (Extreme side eye to everyone who called g3 Drac obese, was racist about g3 Lagoona, and is bitching that Catty is fat now). But like, as someone who grew up with g1, and we're talking, knew these dolls existed before they hit shelves (R.I.P. EverythingGirl.com), a huge thing I and a ton of the other weird freaky girls of the era, both in the targeted age range and older collectors wished would happened was that Mattel would go more into the monstrous sides/aspects of the characters. A little more dark humor in the webisodes or something akin to really, how g3 is now.

Like, I know nostalgia blinds people rose tinted glasses blah blah whatever but that is wild to me that some of the people now (Yeah, ik they prob don't watch any of g3 but still), don't like that aspect? Especially with Lagoona??? I'm sorry but even when I was like, 12 I thought Lagoona would be the perfect character to have as she is now. She's a sea monster so that's perfect when it comes to leaning into more of her monstrous attributes like scales and rows of sharp teeth, as well as like, the fact that while she is a main character, she isn't one of the main three, so they could let a lil more slide. Like in the live action when she was like "Do you want me to eat him?" And started roaring? Yes!!!! That is what I'm here for!!! The comments she's made in g3? Her mannerisms? Her always readiness to eat someone or fuck shit up? Yes!!!!! That's my girl!!!!!

No disrespect to g1 Lagoona but she was literally just the Australian surfer girl trope for the most part, I'm sorry. Like, she had cute dolls and was an alright character, but she came off a bit more bland.

(Then again I'm always a sucker for the scary monster girl that will eat you and cause terror and destruction but also turns out to be a secret hopeless romantic trope. Like, literally me fr. So I'm a bit biased.)

But Lagoona aside, regardless we have an series now where it actually talks about monster lore and we get slightly darker humor and there is an episode where Draculaura literally decomposes and this is the one people hate??? Do y'all not remember being weird 12 year old girls and wishing Mattel would have the balls to do this??? Couldn't be me.

(Also yeah there is something to be said about how shitty some of the g1 fans have been but I'll say that later.)
