“So, how did we get together?”

“Easy, you begged me to go out with you once you finally realised that I’m the coolest, strongest, most attractive guy you know,” Natsu grinned, much to Lucy’s chagrin.

“Might I remind you who exactly it was that was practically on his knees, begging me to come as his date to a wedding?” She huffed, unimpressed with his suggestion, especially considering their circumstances.

“Fine,” Natsu groaned before taking a moment to contemplate his new story. “How about…” he drawled out as he thought. “I asked you out one day because you’re my best friend and I couldn’t imagine spending my life with anyone except you?”

Lucy’s expression softened slightly as he gave her his serious answer.

Natsu was never the romantic type, he never cared about her romance novels or wanted to watch silly romcoms with her, but for someone whom she had previously considered impervious to romance, this new story was… sweet.

“And then you said yes because no one else would want to date you—ow!”

That last part she was not so keen on.
