On the first of March people from Bulgaria celebrate her arrival with the exchange and wearing of martenitsi. ~ Martenitsi are red and white coloured bands or figures that symbolise health, happiness and protection from evil spirits. ~ The white color symbolizes man, the power light solar zone, while red represents the woman and health: it is a sign of blood, conception and birth. ~ People wear martenitsa for a certain period, which ends with with the first signs of spring -bird storks or blossomed treea.
