Candace Cameron Bure is providing a hand to hold on to.
Amid conversations about how child actors are treated following revelations from the docuseries Quiet On Set, which detailed allegations of inappropriate behavior and sexual abuse on several Nickelodeon shows, the Full House alum provided some advice for budding child stars hoping to make it in Hollywood.
"If you love it, it can be a wonderful industry," Candace explained to E! News' Francesa Amiker in an exclusive interview. "You really need people around you to protect you that are looking out for your best interest and just be careful of everyone else's motives—cause they're not always your best interest."
For the 48-year-old, who was 11 when Full House debuted in 1987, it was "difficult" to watch the Investigation Discovery series and learn what several of her fellow former child stars endured on-set.
"It absolutely broke my heart," she continued. "It made me so sad for the people that had such terrible experiences."
In the wake of the series, Candace, expressed support for Drake Bell, who in the series came forward as the previously unnamed minor in the 2003 sexual abuse case against acting coach Brian Peck. (He ultimately served over a year in prison and was made to register as a sex offender in relation to the charges.) But she extends that praise to all the Nickelodeon stars who spoke out.
"Not only Drake Bell but the other kids on those shows who maybe weren't abused in a physical way but just had terrible experiences that it just ruined their self-image," the Fuller House alum added. "It was just horrible."
Candace—who shares three children with her husband of nearly 28 years Valeri Bure—also expressed gratitude to the people around her that ensured she didn't have a negative experience as a child star.
"It made me even extra grateful that that wasn't my experience," the actress, whose new film Unsung Hero arrives in theaters April 26, added. "I did feel very protected by the people I was working with, along with my family."

Danica McKellar (A Royal Date for Christmas, Swing Into Romance) and Oliver Rice (Firefly Lane, Magic In Mistletoe) have booked their next flick for Great American Family. The duo will star in A Royal Christmas Ball, with waltzes choreographed by Dancing With the Stars pro Gleb Savchenko.
Production begins this week on the movie that will premiere this November as part of Great American Christmas 2024.
In A Royal Christmas Ball, Chelsea Jones (McKellar) is a dance instructor and studio owner in Chicago who inspires kids to find themselves through dance. Just before Christmas, Chelsea discovers a photo she’s never seen before. Chelsea thinks the young woman is her birth mother who passed away when she was only five years old. The woman is in a wedding dress tugging on the hand of a man wearing a wedding ring, but that is all that can be seen of the man Chelsea believes may be her father.
The photo’s handwritten inscription reads, “Our place, Havenshire, December 23, 1984.” With only the internet, a plane ticket, and lifelong determination to go on, Chelsea now has four days in Havenshire to solve the mystery of her birth family. Along the way, she’ll have to sneak into a castle, teach a stubborn Prince how to dance, and be in just the right place on Christmas Eve when the bells toll.
“Royal movies are among our viewers’ favorites,” said Bill Abbott, President & CEO, Great American Media. “Finding love when and where you least expect it is the heart of royal fan fiction and Danica and Oliver do a brilliant job of making heartfelt wishes come true.”
“Oliver Rice exudes a dashing Cary Elwes-vibe,” added McKellar. “Oliver grew up in London and graduated from Oxford School of Drama and brings genuine nobility to the role of Prince Phillip. I cannot wait for fans to see him in the film.”
A Royal Christmas Ball is executive produced by Brad Krevoy, Amy Krell, Vince Balzano, McKellar, Jimmy Townsend, Susie Belzberg Krevoy, and Don McBrearty. Producer is David Anselmo. Supervising producers are Kelly Martin, Michael Shepard, Michael Beard, and James Mou.
A Royal Christmas Ball is written by Marcy Holland. Story is from McKellar and Marcy Holland.

Actor, TV host, and Cameron Mathison (“General Hospital”) chatted about his latest endeavors, which include hosting a new game show this summer.
Mathison is known for playing Drew Cain on the ABC soap opera “General Hospital.”
On Sunday, April 21, Mathison participated in a virtual fan event, which was hosted by Coastal Entertainment.
Drew Cain on ‘General Hospital’
Mathison’s character, Drew, is in the middle of a story with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). “I love working with Cynthia,” he exclaimed, prior to noting that he enjoys exploring the darker side of his character lately.
Speaking of Watros, she just scored a 2024 Daytime Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.”
He also shared that he has a great deal of respect for Laura Wright as an actress, who stars as Carly on the ABC daytime drama. “Laura is an exceptional human with a huge heart and enormous talent,” he said.
Hosting a new game show ‘Beat the Bridge’
He described his new upcoming game show “Beat the Bridge” as a “dynamic, super fun, and big production.” He revealed that it will be airing on the Game Show Network this June.
Great American Family films
Most recently, Mathison inked a multi-movie deal with Great American Family, where he will be doing family films and content for them. “This network is really, really special to me,” he acknowledged.
“It is so nice and you know what it feels like to watch these movies. There is something magical about these films, especially from a family and holiday aspect to them,” he said.
“You can watch these movies with your kids and the entire family,” he noted. “While watching these movies is fun, making them is even better. You are in them and you get to experience all these decorations, the love story, and everything.”
“It is a beautiful opportunity to come in there and have that experience for three weeks, and have that live on forever in film. These family movies are very near and dear to my heart,” he added.
Filming a new holiday movie
Speaking of Great American Family, he revealed that he is looking forward to doing a new holiday movie for them and it will have a “female lead that everyone knows,” and he stated that he is “very excited to work with this actress.”
“My co-star in this upcoming Christmas movie is somebody that I’ve always wanted to work with, and I guarantee all of you know her. I am so excited about it,” he foreshadowed.
In the meantime, he listed his holiday movie “A Merry Christmas Wish,” where he starred opposite Jill Wagner back in 2022, as one of his favorite holiday films he has ever done.
Key to longevity in staying healthy
He stressed that the key to longevity in staying healthy involves “building muscle.” “It’s strength training and resistance training,” he said.
“The key to longevity is not cardio, and it’s not losing fat. It’s about keeping your muscles strong for as long as you can, especially when you get older. Injury prevention and building muscle is key,” he explained.
Mathison on greatest lesson that the entertainment industry has taught him
On the greatest lesson that the entertainment business has taught him, he responded, “We are capable of anything. Our potential is so limited and we can honestly become our dreams, even if it’s the biggest change in the world.”
“Anything is possible and you can live out your dream,” he underscored.
Places that he would love to live in
He noted that he would love to live in such cities as Scottsdale and Phoenix, both of which are in Arizona, as well as in the Greek island of Milos.
“If I could move to the island of Milos in Greece, that would be amazing,” he exclaimed. “Milos is probably my favorite destination that I’ve ever been to on Earth. It blew my mind.”
Remembering his dog Red
Mathison also remembered his late dog, Red, whom he described as his “best friend.” He went on to thank all of his fans and followers that extended their emotional support and outpouring of love during that trying time.
Fan conventions
Each year, Mathison shared that he enjoys doing fan conventions such as Christmas Con. “I’ve been at every one of those… I haven’t missed any,” he admitted. “Even back in 2019, I did it two months following my cancer surgery. I love doing these fan events, and I am always so grateful to my fans.”
Mathison thanks the fans
Mathison concluded by expressing his appreciation for his “General Hospital” fans “from the depths of his heart.”
