I love going viral on tumblr.com. It’s like if you stood in a field and said some of the stupidest shit a human being is capable of and then like fifty thousand crows attacked you
if I became wealthy enough to start collecting fancy art, I have a plan for exactly how I would do it: find a skilled and talented aspiring art forgery artist and commission them (at fair rates reflecting their time, training, and effort of course) to make forgeries for me of my favorite famous paintings, then invest in fancy frames and display the works in my home gallery (which I have, in this fantasy) proudly. when guests recognize the pieces and ask if they're real I will say yes, because they are real, tangible paintings, made by skilled artists. just not the ones you assume. this will be endlessly amusing to me and good for the extremely funny art forgery business.
rip to people who buy paintings for several mansions' worth of money and suddenly don't like them anymore when they find out that the artist isn't who they thought it was but I'm different. I'll never be able to afford an aivazovsky seascape (and lack the necromantic skill to contact the original artist about a commission myself) but if I can find someone capable and willing to paint me a 3m tall stormy ocean scene of a caliber that could easily be mistaken for aivazovsky then why should I be a snob about who holds the brush? and again I'll be funding crimes that are objectively funny. zero downsides
I don't think enough Americans realize just how disastrous Covid was. Over 1 million Americans died in just 2 years. More people died from Covid then the fucking civil war and people seemingly don't give a shit. 1 million deaths. That's horrifying. We need to acknowledge how impactful this has been.
the Columbia University arrests are worse than they seem. They're arresting protesting students for trespassing. It goes without saying students cannot meaningfully "trespass" in the common areas of a university they attend. So Columbia University has suspended all student protestors from their institution, in the process revoking their access to housing, their belonging, and most crucially damaging their academic futures. We are witnessing full scale silencing and removal of anyone of conscience from the next generation of academia.
