I have been a little shy to talk here. It honestly hard to find people to talk to in the kin community. Like public discords are so cliquey if you haven’t been there since the start or like do not already have a friend there

But to talk about and add on to the current discussion started about traveling with the traveler. Honestly it does sort of feel like you are in game already, especially if the gatcha gods help you with the 50/50

Kinning characters is honestly an interesting thing if you think about it as well too. People you wouldn’t expect to be friends. An example Navia being besties with Tartaglia. Or you could meet a random person in public and all for you know they kin Diluc (insert the “for all I know you could be Batman meme here)

Kinning is like its own little real life gatcha in a way. Full of many people with their own memories , and meetings. Especially in a community

It can definitely feel that way for sure, I get what you mean. If it's not cliquey, it's just flat-out dead sometimes too (/lh).

y'know sometimes i wonder like. with the travelers. if there's anyone else in this life that remembers them the same way i do—that, in the life they'd led, they'd met with the same one i had. aether and lumine traveled the cosmos, didn't they? it's not entirely unfeasible...

do they know how aether loved the strays around inazuma city like i did? do they know how aether would get transfixed by every little flower and plant and bug he saw? do they know how it felt to curl up in aether's arms as they're finally allowed to come undone? do they know him as intimately as i did? is the aether they know even the same aether at all?

i dunno i got a little too philosophical with that description i think... sorry guys i swear im mostly funny. the funniest thoma kinnie in fact (lie)

It must've been terribly daunting to wander an entire continent, effectively alone. It's always good to hear of even just one iteration of the Traveler that had a friend or a few to look out for them on their journey. (⁠ ⁠´⁠◡⁠‿◡⁠`⁠)つ🍵

In the meantime, I've been calling them "timelines" out of habit, mostly. If you prefer to call them "canons", then don't let me confuse you! I'm not entirely sure what the correct term would be, either. :P

oh oh the ask i just sent reminded me! while i didn't travel with aether and dont know if anyone else did either i DID visit his sereniteapot! the mechanics were very interesting, unplaced furniture were in these little spherical capsules for easy storage? very convenient! although he didn't do a lot of decorating himself. the mansion was pretty bare and he told me the things that were around were from other people who visited and insisted on livening the place up a little

Not someone who traveled with the traveler but Lumine herself who had my own gaggle of people who traveled with me, I get confused when in game it's just me and Paimon. Where's my friends :( where's my emotional support random guy I met like a week ago but who's decided to stick by my side for most if not all of my travels on Teyvat

He's somewhere, hopefully ^^

Maybe that's what the 'team' thing's supposed to replace- which emotional support random guys get to be taken along on adventures /j

agreeing with baizhu here it's really cool to me hearing about people who traveled with the traveler :0 i don't believe i ever did myself (too many responsibilities at home) but i was good friends with aether and he visited me frequently and i think it is very nice if he had friends to keep him company while he journeyed!

It always surprises me a little to hear of people who were companions of the Traveler's in their timelines. Not sure why it strikes me as curious, exactly—I suppose I'd always had the impression they were travelling alone, in my own timeline.

None of my timelines have memories of the Traveler yet, but I too was under the impression they traveled alone, if not with just Paimon. It's nice to know others accompanied them in.. I don't know the proper word, maybe 'timelines'? 'Canons'?

Eh, regardless, it's fun seeing all the differences amongst everyone's memories and knowing that in some they weren't [completely] alone.

In response to 💧🪞 (if that's alright): it's the nature of fandom to jump to conclusions like that, unfortunately. :(

Some people are just inherently predisposed to contrarianism. They may see characters that are popular amongst fans or that they percieve as having been created solely to be popular, and dislike them for that reason—assuming that something can only be liked by a majority if it's shallow and made specifically to yield profits. A cash-grab, if you will. People who feel alone in their opinions or otherwise percieve themselves as part of a minority in their community because of them, are more inclined to be rather passionate about what they think... Regardless of if the topic actually warrants it.

That being said, I think it might also be the culture of gacha games and their communities, that is partially to blame. Assumptions about a character based on little, available material are a natural part of speculation as excitement builds—breeding anticipation for the release and whatnot. But it can turn intensive and sour when people are looking to invest their time and/or money into a character. Character flaws can become reasons not to invest, and culminate in a character being deemed a waste of resources or event-banner space, from a writing standpoint, in this way.

Not really a fave memory but I just thought I should share this because it is. So. Funny to me. Okay so in my canon, the Traveler(Aether, but I prefer calling him that) would go on adventures with whoever can tag along with him at a given time. I think eventually, everyone in his extended adventure team figures out my identity (and Morax's, for that matter) because it's... kinda hard to hide when you're fighting alongside people and spending day after day with them while exploring Teyvat, yk? Anyways, this is turning into too much of a ramble for my liking but I *think* the most oddly hilarious thing to me is that time I lost an Archon War era relic that I still had while searching for the Thunder Manifestation, I think it was called...? I was with Thoma, Noelle, and of course, the Traveler. Noelle tried to jump after it but we naturally pulled her away because. Kid. No. We're literally too high for that and it is STORMING. And eventually we just got back, and Barbara, who by this point already KNEW I was Barbatos, kinda had a crisis when she found out I lost the relic so if my Barbara's out there reading this, I am so, *so* sorry. Not really because. That bow is mine and I have the right to break it as I wish. <//3
