hi tumblr folk! hope you guys have been well! ive come to give you a little collection of artwork from the last week or so. a couple notes!!

1.) the first image is of pre-death cesare! not a solid design yet but may be the final! he has semi-greasy black hair and ohoho… i have a whole thing planned out for him.

2.) 4&5 are designs for steve in prison after the events of season 2’s finale! technically its 1-2 years after he first gets locked up when he starts a mad hair-growth sesh… 4 is more accurate as the lovely @mlparthur informed me he is BALDING!!!! jevil took his hair… (inside joke :3)

3.) I WILL TALK ANYONES EAR OFF ABOUT PENNY/CONRAD. I ADORE THEM SO MUCH!!! EEK!!!

So How Did We Get Here, Anyway?

so. white yokai are roaming the yokai world in increasing numbers enma's dead squisker's been banished to the inferno on suspicion of attempted regicide and the new ruler is this weird squid guy

how did we get to this point? if mckraken was actually just a squid before death, how did he become one of the most powerful yokai pretty much ever? humans kill squid all the time, so if this was just what happened, there would be yokai like mckraken all over the place, right?

well. there have been plenty of squid yokai, and animal yokai in general. but it's rare for them to last very long, and even rarer for them to reach such high ranks. when a yokai first awakens after death, they usually find themself in the human realm, in the same spot where they died. disoriented and inexperienced with their new form and abilities, it's not uncommon for them to get into mishaps and never actually reach the yokai realm, especially the weaker ones. and the more common a yokai is, the weaker it tends to be. for example, the spirit of a squid killed in a fishing incident would be rather a weak one, seeing how it happens all the time.

however. if a yokai lasts long enough to make it to safety, and survives for a good while, they have the potential to grow stronger. should they live for a long while, and put in some effort to train themselves, even the lowest of yokai could make it to the top.

spite is a powerful motivator.

HI OKAY erm ik this is weird but I've been in an art slump for a long time and since we kinda have similar fandoms, what do U personally do 2 get outta artblock?

artblocks for me are similar to that of others, and it’s definitely very irritating. usually when i get an artblock i cant draw for an extended period of time, but to get out of it, i simply just think of scenarios and facials!

scenarios for characters have always been a saving grace for multiple forms of art, including drawing and writing. lets take bigtop burger for instance!! say i think of cesare facial expressions and i just draw it afterward! or maybe penny and steve interacting. thinking of these scenarios first helps expand my mindset to draw more!!

sometimes, though, it just comes down to fandom-hopping. i never really have one certain fandom i cling to, so artblocks don’t usually occur. i draw a few characters then move on. if i do get an artblock, though, i also like to just wait it out. sometimes i get too busy to even have one!!

sorry for the length of the reply, but i do hope you get out of your art slump soon! i’d be excited to see what you come up with :3 have a great rest of your day/evening, y-soblu!!!
