I think ironically the discourse that trans people are “born this way” and my earnest assumption that I wasn't was the biggest impediment to me transitioning. if someone had just told me trans people choose to not be the gender they were assigned at birth and that this assignment was inherently coercive and abstract in nature instead of trying to defend the idea that their brains were inherently different (whatever the merits of that) it would've been a lot simpler to figure that shit out

#the night of the iguana #i liked it i gave it four stars on letterboxd #i mostly enjoyed it because of ava gardner and deborah kerr's performances they were so good #ava gardner was really awesome and hot and i've only thought of her as a younger actress in more restrictive predictable post code #hollywood movies but night of the iguana is a weird tennessee williams adaptation so her character was really interesting and the story was #weirder #i also loved deborah kerr being lovely and being like hey sex can be many things and you can still feel fulfilled from a sexual encounter #that isn't just the traditional conception of sex #super cool and weird i <3 tennessee williams
