A wise desicion. For if the other had decided that keeping silent was not the action that he wished to take, Luck would not have hesitated to give him the same treatment that he had given the kneeling man. When dealing with groups of criminals such as the mafia, it was best to keep quiet anyway. Even the police had stayed out of their way. Partially because the mafia had the police paid off, but partially because they were down right terrified of the mafia. Such fear caused them to stay out of the majority of situations where the mafia was involved.

"Give me one reason why I should take your word for it." The mafiosi spoke once more; his gun remaining drawn and aimed straight at the detective. "Who's to say that you won't tell someone what you saw here today as soon as you leave?"

In fact, it left him moreover cautious. None of his actions will be driven by fear - not now or ever.」

Unless he hears on the news that this had advanced to something far more severe, at least he’ll have somewhat of an upper hand. But right now? — Nah. “ Understood. I won’t say anything. You have my word. ”」

What a strange feeling-- The immortal had felt his share of strange feelings in the past sure, but this-- This was different.
"A death filled night covered by the looming silence of darkness-- How unexpected." Welcome, but unexpected all the same. "Tell me, you wouldn't happen to be the cause of such destruction-- Would you?"

"You ain't got purpose here, pal."
Oh how sure the mafiosi was of himself-- Though in all actuality, Luck was probably the furthest from being right at that moment. In this world, there were humans whose lives could be stolen in the blink of an eye and then there were the immortals. Nothing else existed. It was man against man. The concept of shinigami was completely lost on one such as Luck Gandor. Swiftly, the immortal caught up with the shinigami; his gun already drawn (yet not aimed at the other), Luck spoke up once more.
                                                                 "--Who sent you?"
Tumblr media
Humans were an undeniable frustration; that it was in his purpose to protect souls, rather, it was the method of doing so that the occasional interruption was given. Turf? Nonsense— and so the shinigami continued in his stride, not even ceasing in that hollow step to face the inquisitor.
“My purpose transcends your supposed ownership of this land.”

"This is Gandor turf-- You mind tellin' me what you're doin' sneakin' around here?" While Luck generally was a relatively friendly guy on the streets, he did not take well to strangers roaming his streets. He knew every 'family' in Chicago and it was very clear that this individual was not from any of them. But he had not seen their face before, so it could be that they had been sent to disrupt business in someway-- There was a possibility of that being false of course, but Luck wished to take no chances.

Headcanon - Reading/Poetry
Tumblr media
Outside of his work, Luck really only has one hobby. Reading. Poetry, novels, nonfiction, fiction, history books, psychology journals-- He enjoys them all. Though, shockingly enough, poetry is his favorite thing to read. Luck is in no way embarrassed by admitting that he enjoys said genre. For what shame is there to be had in it? Poetry is an art form after all.
His favorite poem happens to be Spirits of the Dead by Edgar Allen Poe. Said poem used to completely terrify him as a child, but has grown quite interested in once he reached adulthood. It's dark mystery suddenly provided the immortal with a sense of wonderment.
Thy soul shall find itself alone 'Mid dark thoughts of the grey tomb-stone; Not one, of all the crowd, to pry Into thine hour of secrecy. Be silent in that solitude, Which is not loneliness- for then The spirits of the dead, who stood In life before thee, are again In death around thee, and their will Shall overshadow thee; be still. The night, though clear, shall frown, And the stars shall not look down From their high thrones in the Heaven With light like hope to mortals given, But their red orbs, without beam, To thy weariness shall seem As a burning and a fever Which would cling to thee for ever. Now are thoughts thou shalt not banish, Now are visions ne'er to vanish; From thy spirit shall they pass No more, like dew-drop from the grass. The breeze, the breath of God, is still, And the mist upon the hill Shadowy, shadowy, yet unbroken, Is a symbol and a token. How it hangs upon the trees, A mystery of mysteries!

Truthfully, Luck had not been paying the best attention to where he and a few of his men were walking. But when the mafiosi and the eye patch adorned stranger's paths crossed, the gangsters definitely took both notice and offense to it.
Tumblr media
"Why the rush, friend?" Luck questioned; his voice friendly enough sounding, but not overly so. "You should probably slow down-- Don'tcha think?"

Luck had been on his way to a certain bookstore that he had been visiting ever since he was a child when the incident occurred. It wasn't anything drastic; nor was it really anyone's fault. It was merely a fly ball which had somehow managed to get away from the game. There had been a time in the mafiosi's life where he did nothing but play ball in the streets with some of his neighborhood friends. Though those days were long gone by this point, Luck completely understood that it had been an accident. The ball had merely hit his leg anyway, so it really was no big deal.
It was made very clear that the female was sorry for what had happened and it was also quite obvious that she was nervous. A reassuring smile formed on Luck's lips as a bit of laughter sounded from within his throat.
Tumblr media
"Don't worry about it! Really. I'm fine. There's no need for such a formal apology."
♕ –⊱ “I’m sorry!” dark eyebrows rose and knit worried lines across her youthful face. The little Queen’s loafers skid along the sidewalk as she immediately dropped towards the ground. A brilliant red blush covered her face as she gathered the offending baseball between her fingers.
Thumbs ran across the crimson stitches of her baseball.  Saya’s body swayed as she bent mechanically at the waist. The little lady’s doe like eyes focused upon the man.
Tumblr media
“I’m sorry it got away from me I’m so sorry,” the words ran together in a nervous manner. She’d just been tossing it she never ever meant to hit anyone with it.

TELL ME ALL THE NAMES AND MEMBERS OF YOUR FAMILY SO I CAN KILL THEM FOR THE YAKUZA
Tumblr media
"—…"
At this point, the Yakuza were not even a threat to the Italian mafia. To say that Luck cared at all about the mob’s Japanese counterpart would be tell a lie. This was Chicago after all. The Yakuza weren’t exactly a big deal around these parts.
Glancing back to a couple of thugs who stood behind him, Luck gave a small nod; giving them the okay to open fire. Which is exactly what they did. Within seconds, the anonymous being had been turned to swiss cheese by a couple of tommy guns.
If you wish to speak to a high ranking member of a crime organization, you should probably speak in an a manner which was nothing short of respectful. Unless of course you had a death wish.

Business was business. Why anyone who went against the family thought that said family would spare them afterwards was a fool. As one could clearly see by the corpse on the ground, something had to have happened prior to the murder. Something big enough to deserve death as a punishment. What exactly happened however, the mafiosi would not say. His lips were zipped tightly at this point and siphoning any information out of him would be down right impossible.
Tumblr media
A distinct look of displeasure remained on the young man's features as he continued to side eye the other. It was quite apparent that there was no trust between the two males and even though the other had agreed to what Luck had said, Luck still did not trust him. Though really, if you were not a part of the family, Luck was not going to trust you completely. Ever.
With his gun still out and aimed at Kain's abdomen, Luck finally spoke up once more-- His voice and demeanor just as cold as it had been a few mere moments ago.
"Good. We wouldn't want you an' him to meet the same fate-- Would we?"
Misery loves company.
His heartbeat isn’t howling and neither is he, no matter that a dead man just has been, before their dead man’s mind had been emptied against the wall behind. The man’s thoughts are scarlet and are silent upon their given brick grave, and the cigarette between the bartender’s fingers dies its pretty red death just as silently; the smoke doesn’t scream when he swallows in one white breath, doesn’t sting in his chest, or weep in the back of his throat with his waiting words and their clipped wings.
Yes, he’s seen nothing, he’s seen enough, he decides (he’s seen a broken neck and a broken skull before, he’s seen empty eyes before, he’s seen death sleeping on the pillow beside and in the spaces between his fingers before.) So today, he stares down the backbone of this gun’s barrel, with his lashes hanging low over eyes that have seen more than they should, and a mouth that at last has something to say.
Would his thoughts look just as red on the wall behind? He wonders.
Tumblr media
"Not a thing," Kain answers, agrees, sighs out a silver phantom swimming in his lungs and dips his dark halo once. "Not a thing indeed."

do you love dallas?
Tumblr media
“Dallas Genoard? Hardly. He’s a low grade thug of absolutely no use to me.” Though Luck was not the most pure of souls, he did in fact have quite a few friends. A lot of which were his own underlings. When Dallas and two of his men shot up four of Luck’s companions/friends, Luck was enraged. He was beyond furious. That moment sealed Dallas’ fate with both Luck and the Gandor family. “He’s the scum of the earth and I refuse to engage in conversation with such scum when I do not have to. So no— I don’t love him.”

It was a cool afternoon-- Perfect for a leisurely stroll through town. While it might have appeared that Luck was alone, such a thing could not be further from the truth. Everywhere one looked there was at least one Gandor goon lurking-- Though an untrained eye would be unable to see this. They were there to keep the youngest of the three Gandor brothers safe of course (even though he didn't really need such protection).
As Luck walked down the somewhat crowded sidewalk, his mind began to wander-- Eventually losing focus on where exactly he was walking. Unfortunately, that lack of focus caused him to walk straight into someone else. Had he been Berga, he probably would have beat the absolute crap out of the strange. But being the nearly emotionless tactician that he was, Luck remained calm and poker faced.

Down a rather darkened alley stood a a figure with his .22 pistol drawn and pointed at a kneeling man's head. Oh how the kneeled man pleaded-- Practically begging for his life. Over and over again he said how he would not tell a soul about something-- But the figure in the trench coat did not listen. Instead, he merely pulled the trigger and ended the other's life. Blood spattered on the brick wall behind the murdered individual as his body slumped forward and onto the ground. But just after Luck had thought that the ordeal was over, he heard movement coming from behind him. Slowly, the mafiosi turned around to ever so coldly gaze upon the stranger--
Tumblr media
"You didn't see anything." A hushed statement followed up by the man's gun being pointed at the stranger. They had seen too much already, but at this point they were innocent. Luck would have no problems with shooting them, but he thought it best to scare them a little bit first.
                                                                    "Understand?"

"Were you perhaps not aware that it is incredibly rude to simply barge into my home without sayin' that you goin' to do so before hand?" The mafiosi spoke almost monotoned as he rested his chin upon his palm. He didn't mind guests so much, but he was not overly found of the ones who showed up out of the blue. Unless of course they were Claire or even Firo. Other than that though Luck had absolutely no patience for random guests.
"I really do hope you're not here to waste my time."
