My interest to volunteer stems from my passion and experience in teaching professionals core IT / Audit Remediation knowledge, skills and abilities over the course of my 17 year career. Jesus teaches us that HIS love hurts when we apply HIS word (the Bible) into our lives. But Jesus does not intend to “hurt” us to put us down as Christians, but to discipline our sinful souls to be in right standing with the Holy Spirit within us. Reverend J. Enock Guerrier once taught me in Bible study class that human beings are made up of three entities: 1) Soul - the real sinful person where our emotions reside) 2) Physical Body - What the physical world can experience through our 5 senses (touch, smell, hear, 3) Spirit - When we are born again, God places HIS Holy SPIRIT within us to CONNECT us with God. During Black history month, I want to acknowledge the influence of Reverend David Faustin on my spiritual walk. While I was junior entry professional over 15 years ago, Pastor Faustin preached a message entitled to the effect of “BMW” at the First Evan Haitian Church of Maryland! His message resonates with me today as we often wonder why God does not simply GIVE us the tools we need to accomplish God’s purpose in our lives. We often have dreams of grandeur to own our “BMW” to mark out significance in this life. Well, as Pastor Faustin taught that Sunday, the Lord does indeed equip us with our coveted ”BMW” to accomplish God’s will in our lives: that is the ability to “B” Bike, “M”etro and “W”alk our spiritual and natural journey in this life! What a simple message with a powerful truth! First Baptist Church of Silver Spring (FBCSS), The Church Downtown, has always blessed me with a rich diverse experience within our Christ centered faith! Pictured below are the young adults during the church transitions from old building in downtown to the current facility today. We worshipped at the Takoma Park Community Center’s auditorium for several years.
