They should have let Gabriel nearly kill himself trying to revive Sam. Like he thinks he owes it to him doesn't he? In fact it would've been even better if it didn't work. He puts his hands on Sam's bloody head and neck and tries again and again to resurrect him unsuccessfully and Dean's crying and begging him to keep going, he'll even let Gabriel touch his soul if he thinks it will help. But eventually Gabriel's bleeding from his eyes and nose and ears and Cas has to physically drag him away from Sam's corpse before he burns himself out.

the fact that the supernatural showrunners were too cowardly to let sam and dean hunt in the bible belt means we were robbed of the potential for them to go to buc-ee's. they would love buc-ee's. cheap gas, clothes and supplies suitable for hunting, a huge variety of cheap food and snacks, the "best restroom in america" as voted in 2012, a whole damn wall of jerkey (sometimes many walls!), a million and one dessert options. it'd be like going to disney world after dealing with all the other horrifying gas stations they'd end up at on the road
