13 year olds on the Internet definitely get a lot more hate than they deserve but I'm starting to understand why,

like ... I've started encountering things where the people in the comments are too young to have experienced what a post is referring to (through no fault of their own) and they just say, so confidently, that it's made up or unrealistic

And you think, that happened all the time, how stupid do they have to be to not make that connection?

But then you look at their spelling, and grammar, and syntax, and it slowly dawns that they can't make the connection because they're to young to remember that and you feel as though your ancient bones are minutes away from returning to dust.

#It's not their fault they're stupid #you were too #they have a place here too it's how they'll learn #but it is funny to see them say something you know is so obviously incorrect #It is frustrating before you realize how old they are though #makes me understand all the hate directed towards young people on the Internet

Hey did you know that a wild number of common garden weeds are actually super edible and you should totally eat them. Today I had a henbit and chickweed salad with a lil ranch and olive oil and it was amazing. Did you that chickweed tastes like broccoli and henbit tastes like celery a little. You can eat common violets too but they don't taste like much. Eastern redbud flowers are yummy and some magnolia flowers are edible but I cant eat those without trespassing. I'm just crouching in my yard munching on stuff at this point

Tonight was the first worm night I've seen so far this year. Normally they happen around the worm moon (late march), but this one happened early March. Probably because of the warm weather.

#worm nights are what I call the nights around a storm when the worms poke their heads up and you hear them wiggle in the leaf litter #not as many as a summer worm night but I could still hear them wiggling #I think it happens more with thunderstorms

What is this about the tumblr staff wanting to sell art data to midjourney?

An ex-colleague of mine mentioned yesterday that there may be contacts between Automattic and midjourney in that direction, but nothing is public yet and I don't have any more info. They probably won't have anything specific to share either, since they left the company weeks ago too. That being said:

I have no reason to doubt my ex-coworker word, they are a trustworthy person.

Tumblr's CEO has been absurdly enthusiastic (comically, even) about AI, and is a big fan of LLMs and 'AI' companies.

A deal with midjourney could solve tumblr financial issues (not the same company, but openAi is paying up to 5 million/year to news companies to use their content as training data... tumblr generates several orders of magnitude more content than any newspaper or any media company and it only would need a 20 to 30 million per year deal to be profitable)

So I don't have any extra info yet, but I'm keeping my ears open.
