ON CANON I actually haven’t seen much past season five, and am in the process now of finishing season six. In my main verse, Cassie takes up hunting accidentally: she’s following a story that takes her out-of-state, and as she follows the story, she starts uncovering details that make it seem more and more like what she’s following is actually a supernatural occurrence. As far as she’s heard, Dean is dead, so she can’t reach out to him; she meets Ellen Harvelle briefly, and upon learning of her connections to various hunters, passes along her information. Unfortunately, Cassie is targeted by the demon she’s following, and is forced to try and deal with the demon in order to protect herself. After that, she continues hunting, and crosses paths with Dean again after the end of season five.

I of course won’t assume anything for any Dean I’m writing with, but I would love to explore this further !!

If not writing with a Dean, I may reference my own, which will follow this AU.

ON CANON I actually haven’t seen much past season five, and am in the process now of finishing season six. I am very happy to write in an AU where Jo is resurrected as I continue watching!

I will be relying on a mix of both in-show canon and the extra-canon material in Jo’s Blog for my characterization. I haven’t decided if I’ll include Jo’s appearance in season seven, though I probably will, once I watch.

ON RELATIONSHIPS Jo is only really interested in other hunters at first; she can’t see herself involved with a civilian, and is opposed to the very idea of a normal life when she knows what’s really out there. With time, I could easily see her involved with non-hunters who are involved, somehow — like Cassie, or Anna.

During the timeline between seasons two and five, Jo is very much attracted to Dean, and in a little bit of puppy love; I may reference this, and will hold to that canon, though I’ll never assume a ship.

For me, the first five seasons of the show are an excellent, contained narrative; as such, while it’s possible that I will catch up, especially with the series ending, my default is typically to only write Sam through season five canon. I haven’t decided if I want to write Sam being resurrected or not.

ON CHARACTERIZATION I tend to prefer Sam’s characterization in seasons one through five. Sam is not particularly healthy, has a very strict code and feels immense guilt when he is unable to live up to that code, and has a tendency to throw all of that out the window when it comes to Dean.

ON RELATIONSHIPS My primary ship for Sam is with Ruby. My interpretation is that the two did have genuine feelings for one another, and that Ruby betrayed the brothers only after extensive torture, and in the genuine belief that she was saving Sam. Their relationship is messy, complicated, unhealthy, and codependent, and this is a major element of who Sam becomes. All Sam x Ruby content will be appropriately trigger tagged.

ON SAM & DEAN The relationship between the brothers is deeply unhealthy, extremely codependent, and wildly troubled. I will not ship Sam with his brother sexually or romantically. Please don’t ask about it.

My default Dean goes back on the hunt after a year or two with Ben and Lisa, and eventually reunites with Cassie, whose investigative journalism has sent her on the road, following a story that ends up being one of Dean’s cases.

ON CHARACTERIZATION I tend to prefer Dean’s characterization in seasons one through five, and elements of his characterization in season six. I don’t like that Dean’s characterization so often devolves into unchecked violence in place of emotional expression.

Please note that Dean is deeply unhealthy, pretty much always. I will be acknowledging and portraying his unhealthy and self-destructive behaviors, including his alcoholism. This will be treated as an illness, even if / when Dean tries to brush it aside.

ON RELATIONSHIPS My primary ship for Dean is with Castiel, and I’m very, very open to exploring that after the events of season five. I love Dean with Lisa, but I can’t imagine that lasting particularly long. The only other relationship I can see lasting with Dean is with Cassie, or with Jo. With that said, I’m very, very open to shipping Dean with other characters in Supernatural’s canon, or in AUs and crossovers.
