I realized the other night that while I do have Scarlet attending a Toon school-- escorted to and from by Redd's partner Star --I haven't really thought much about her classmates.

So I decided to fix that! And only ONE of them is ported from pre-existing media! Are you proud of me? (if the BTL squad gets to have Vinny, I get to make Trucy one of Scarlet's friends, shhh)

If you're wondering why Elvis is blonde now, it's cause he bleached his hair and grew it out some time after Redd rescued him from his captors that had been holding him prisoner and torturing him basically.

As a result he's got a lot of scars that he keeps covered up.

POINT A: He's an Orphan

Yeah, Apple Bloom's an orphan too but she doesn't have NEARLY as much angst about it as Redd does. Because Redd not only was old enough to remember his dads as they lived, but he actively tried to save his remaining father after losing the first. (Who may or may not be actually dead, we have no way to know for sure.)

After Atticus died, it's implied that Redd wasn't even told in person, all he got was an impersonal company-wide memo detailing his remaining father's demise. Understandably, he vanished afterwards, along with inheriting a TON of money from all the Insurance companies going bankrupt trying to pay out the policy his father had.

POINT B: He's a Business Owner

Nowadays, while we still haven't seen much of Redd himself, it's been recently discovered that the company his father used to work for is now insured by Wing Insurance, LLC. Now, I don't wanna jump to conclusions, but it seems pretty likely that this is Redd putting all that insurance money to use, trying to prevent cases like his father's from happening ever again.

POINT C: He's Doomed By The Narrative

The first time we ever saw Redd, he was exactly what his name implies. A red herring. A distraction. He was trying to draw the attention of the Toons away from his father, trying to ease the burden on his shoulders. Unfortunately for him, that didn't quite work out for him, and he was being rather soundly beaten on numerous occasions.

"I understand that my decision to face you Toons was rash. It caused nothing but further distress on my father, and resulted in him chastising me. Luckily, he admired how formidable I was, and instead of throwing me out of harm’s way, he modified me."

"So, Toon. Do you really think I am a JOKE to you? Say that now! Face me again and I will show you something to laugh about! En garde!"

And just like that, he threw himself back into the fray, fighting valiantly until he was removed from the game a couple months later in June.

Despite his best efforts, there was NOTHING he could do to save his father. Atticus was doomed by the narrative, and by that note, so was Redd. Doomed to lose the only family he had left.

"Money won't bring back his dad, unfortunately."

POINT FINALE: He Changed The Game Forever

Redd introduced Cheats to the game, in the aspect of Cogs being able to break the "rules" of battle and activate special effects during combat. Redd's signature Cheat was his Auto-Repair function, healing not just himself, but his fellow Cogs as well.

He was also able to deal extra damage when Soaked, making Squirt-Zap combos a bit of a risk.

He was also the first Cog that was able to theoretically one-shot a fully maxed Toon under the right circumstances.

At level 20, while being Overcharged, Soaked AND in his Skelecog form, he could deal upwards of 140 damage with a single Liquidate, which dealt 57 base damage on its own at level 20.

All modern-day Cog Cheats are in part thanks to Redd's innovation, and while he is not presently in the game, the effects of his involvement are still felt throughout.

So Elvis gets put through a bit of shit in this timeline. Captured by a Cog extremist group, held captive and tortured for information and also just because, stuck in a state between Greened and Dead for who knows how long...

Until it's Redd Heir Wing who tracks him down and rescues him. Not the Toon Resistance, Redd Heir Wing. Elvis understandably is a bit shaken up by the whole ordeal, and in the end, he opts to stay with Redd after he's recovered from his injuries.

He decides to try to aid Redd's cause-- pushing for a peaceful resolution to the Toon-Cog war and the eventual overthrowing of Robert Cyger.

He grows out his hair and bleaches it blond to try to distance himself from the face on the missing posters:

"That guy on the missing posters? That's not me anymore. He died. They left him to die."

so um. i made an au where redd got yeeted into paldea and adopted by clavell. so now it’s time for the uno reverse: redd gets pulled back into toontown, and the paldea crew follow him to try to get him back.

however, unlike redd, they get a bit of a form change during the jump over.

She’s a closeted witch, goth and lesbian, with a very complicated relationship with her father. She loves her dad but good lird she knows he’d freak out if he knew the ‘real her’. And she doesn’t want to lose the safety she currently has.

I don’t think I’ll ever get around to finishing that animatic for the Birdshot AU, but I’m still very proud of this frame that never saw the light of day.

Signifying that initially, Spamton and Berdly’s cooperation was an uneasy one, borne of necessity. It takes time and growth before Spamton warms into the uncle figure Berdly comes to know and love.
