He wanted to just tell her, to her face, that he loved her. Goddesses above, why was this so difficult to say? Despite being the princess, she was much more than that. Much, much more. They had shared so much together and, well, it was something he wanted to address. He wanted, more than anything, to just embrace her. To just pull her into a hug and everything to go from there. A hug was all he dared to do, dared dream of doing. The way he felt was one sided, that he was painfully aware of.

Considering all of the trials he’d faced; this was worse than all of them combined. He tried, desperately, to put to words what he was feeling, what he was thinking. Words were, however, were failing him. It was rapidly coming to the point that was going to have to force words out, rather than construct some eloquent statement or declaration.

“I’d…” He started, trying to force himself to say something, anything. “I’d… Want to be… b-by your side… A-and… W-with you for… uhh… for… y’know…umm…” Bless him, he was rapidly turning redder than the Goron Tunic.

A moment, or two, of silence hung between them. Link, really, hadn't given any thought to the rain, or what it was like. For all that it was, and all that it had been, it was just a fact of life. Rain fell, things got wet. Whilst there was always this vague sense of drowning in sadness when it rained, he'd never stopped to consider the fact that there was an emotional release.

"I've... Never thought about it like that," Link replied, breaking the silence. "It's always just... been rain."

He gave himself a moment of introspection. How did the rain make him feel. Between Hyrule and Termina, all the rain that had fallen on him, what did he feel?

"Does it ever feel like it never ends?" He asked, softly. Quite where that came from, he wasn't sure, but he was thinking, and it was the thought that came to the fore.

"Does the rain make you sad?"

There was a time when it did that for her. Yet now... there was a sense of peace, when the drops fell. It certainly did save her time from gardening, there was no need to water the flowers when they were receiving it in its most natural form.

A breeze shoots by, and her eyes close.

"I always wonder what it is like for the clouds above. I understand the science behind rain, but it feels more fun to think of it as the sky releasing emotion."

This caught Link off guard. Of all people to say this to him, this wasn't the person he was expecting to.

That being said, he had to give Dark his dues there. Considering everything that Link had seen and done, to 'see darkness' would be an understatement. What was less clear, however, was what was meant by this comment. What "darkness" was at play here? The burden of knowledge that he carried? The weight that being the "hero" places on people? The fact of Majora, Termina, and the Fierce Deity?

The next issue, however, was how to respond to Dark's remark. It would be all too easy, and childish, for Link to retort something back to him. Link suppressed this urge, and allowed himself a moment of thought.

"What makes you say that?" he asked, trying his best to be as nonchalant as he could be. If you knew how to look, how to read him, you could spot that this had hit him in a way that he hadn't anticipated it would. All one would need to do is to just ask the right question.
