Calling it now, or manifesting (whatever you want to call it), I want the Jon Matteson frog knight to be mortally wounded in the climax of Cinderella’s Castle (perhaps to save Ella).
As he’s dying his little puppet death and I’m crying Ella tells him he’s a real knight and thanks him for his help, perhaps even declaring her love for him in a very platonic way (or a romantic way) and she gives him a little kiss.
Cue flashing lights and magic sound effects and who puts down the puppet and stands up but human man Jon Matteson who was The Frog Prince the whole time.

"No one can love you until you love yourself" is like the worst possible way of articulating "if you don't respect and value yourself, it's very easy to become attracted to people who don't treat you right and then justify their mistreatment, so be careful."

It's amazing how young Ed and Stede look during the academy scenes in the first season. That contrast between Ed with the full beard and then clean-shaven, yes, but both of them turn into teenagers, a little wobbly and confused and so sweet with each other. Then Ed's excitement after Stede agrees to run away with him, where he's practically bouncing around, and Stede's anxiety and uncertainty that Ed misses because he's so excited.
Tumblr media
It makes their shifts back into their old lives, and how incredibly painful those old lives are without each other, so much harder. We see them move from this combination of childlike joy and anxiety to these increasingly stultifying adult worlds where neither of them really fit anymore, where their spirits are being crushed back into shape.
A lot of OFMD is a move from innocence to experience, for both of them. When they meet again, they've both grown. They've suffered and struggled and lost pieces of themselves and found others, but they've been in each other's hearts the entire time.
That's the hope that Ed kept and the faith that Stede had.

I think it’s a really interesting choice to emphasize the dire nature of her circumstances. It genuinely feels like this Cinderella is TRAPPED, which is going to make it all the more emotionally effective to see her try to break free.
The problem with a lot of modern Cinderella adaptations (cough Andrew Lloyd Webber) is that they don’t want her to be a victim. They think it’s more ‘empowering’ if she doesn’t suffer as much, when actually the reverse is true.
A character is not weak because they’re in a bad situation. A truly strong character is one who has all the odds stacked against them but still refuses to give up hope.

one thing i really missed in season 2 (and ofc season 3) of OFMD was the found family aspect, specifically between stede and the crew.
i was INHALING the stede and lucius scene as well as stede complimenting everyone during the cursed ship raid, and i dead near cried when jim, the one who had been the most critical of stede from the beginning, started telling his stories to the other pirates as well as being the one to ask/greet him for calypso’s birthday.
this was all wonderful and dandy and i love the crew and stede and dont get me wrong i love how ed and his crew and other crews were sorta integrating into the revenge all “You Can’t Take it With You” style (iykyk)
but NOTHING and i mean NOTHING will ever top how hard i cried when Stede owned Chauncy with “We talk it through,” and the the WHOLE ship responds with “As a crew!” after doing so much to save stede’s hide despite not liking him at first.
Buttons being stede’s ride-or-die, Oluwande being there reasonable one for stede, Lucius being stede’s “son” that he cant relate to, jim being the edgy one who eventually comes to miss stede
i start crying thinking about it theres so much more i wanted,
more stories being read, more gags of stede being a father figure to the crew,
DONT GET ME WRONG i wouldn’t trade the romances and other relationships for all the money in the world,
this is just my grief of “fuck you big corporations i wanted MORE”
anyways this is all just to say i love found family and i love the crew of the revenge. 💝

Mr. Andrew Hozier byrne sat down and said 100 years from now the Empire will have fallen and because of that we have hope. The fruits of our revolution are inevitable, our dreams are inevitable and propel us forward and because of that we have hope for an easier world!
Yes the despair and yes the hope 😭 the sun will dawn on better times

THOUGHT GAINED: INFERNAL ENGINES
PROBLEM
The world is ending. You know it, your neighbor knows it, the dealer knows it, the jailer knows it, the king and all his men know it. All one has to do is look around to see it— the future is curdling into something pale and incorporeal. The infernal machine that is this stupid world is going to blow, sooner rather than later. So what are you doing? Why are you still here? Why is anyone still here?
SOLUTION
You are doing the only thing worth doing. You are living. *Why,* you ask? Try and remember now. Remember your mother’s hand on your shoulder. Remember the taste of a fresh catch. Remember the times when you were kind to the dogs in the valley and they did not bare their teeth. Remember the weight of a child on your shoulders. Remember the stars throwing their light against the wall of sodium and smog. Remember singing until your throat was raw. Remember crying just as loudly and publicly, and the gentleness with which someone opened your curled fist and pressed a handkerchief into your palm. Crying, laughing, running, eating, screaming, haunting, loving, fighting, fighting, fighting. The fight fuels you, and you fuel the fight. You run yourself ragged just for a chance to keep running. You never stop. You cannot stop. The world depends on it. *You* are the infernal engine. You are the world. And, simply put: you want to live.
