As the conversation turned towards the topic of dating, the woman couldn't help but feel a bit apprehensive. She had a hunch that the man might try to deflect the conversation away from the subject, which was not entirely unexpected - she had once found it challenging to connect with people on a deeper level, too. However, she had come a long way in terms of becoming more comfortable with people and the world around her, and she felt that she could extend a helping hand to him as well. She firmly believed that encouraging someone to step out of their comfort zone was a positive thing and that it could lead to new experiences and opportunities.

"Not at all. But look how we turned out," she said, trying to clarify her intentions. "I simply thought it would be fun for us to go out and meet some new people. It doesn't have to be anything serious, just a chance to have a good time and maybe make some new friends." She leaned in a bit, hoping to capture his attention. "There's this girl I know who's really cool. She's a bit quiet, but she's really into comics and I think you two might have some things in common." Ines had a feeling that the girl would be a good match for Chase, and she hoped that she would be able to join them on their outing.

"Please, Chase," she implored him. "I really think you should give it a chance. And if things get too uncomfortable, we can always leave and go get some ice cream or something." She smiled, hoping to put him at ease. "I promise it won't be too bad. And who knows, maybe we'll end up having a great time."

Plot: Alex is helping you move into your new place. (friends, exes on good terms, etc.)

“What happened to you hiring movers?!” Alex questions, straining to grip the couch and simultaneously open the door. It’s not working as it glides back, bumping into him and nearly knocking the sofa from his hands. “Shit!” He exclaims, eventually forcing himself inside before giving up completely. “This would have been a lot easier if, you know, we had an ENTIRE CREW and not just the two of us.” He continues, looking over his shoulder and guiding them towards the stairs. “We’ve only started with this couch. We still have an entire bed set to pick up.” He pauses, mainly for a quick break but also to catch her attention. “Are you trying to kill me from exhaustion? I am a man, not a robot.” Although he was giving her hell for this, the faint smirk forming on his lips just meant Alex likes to talk shit now and then. He was going to help her regardless, but sometimes he wondered why she wanted to put him through so much. Didn’t she have other male friends to overwork?

First memory: Alex was 22 traveling with the Julliard Orchestra to Carnegie Hall. This would be Alex’s first time, after rigorous training performing at the hall. After his performance a few musicians decide that the night shouldn't end and suggested going out for drinks. Alex was definitely not read for his high to die down and opted in for a night out. Having traveled back to campus first to put away any of his belongings he got a message from his father that he needed to call him urgently. He’d find out that his mother was in a coma after suffering 2 strokes. Alex would book a flight to Maryland and stay by his mother's side at the hospital. The night before Alex’s father decided to have his mother be pulled from the plug he was told to spend the night in a hotel and get some real rest. The next day, Alex returned to the hospital with his mother not in her room. He had asked the nurse what happened and found out his father pulled her plug earlier that morning. He rushed to his fathers in rage having one of the most explosive arguments he’s ever had with his father. He and his father haven’t spoken since. 

Most important childhood memory: Alex was 12 when his family decided  to move to America. Not that America wasn’t a place he wouldn't mind seeing, but living there and leaving his life was hard for him. Having protested, asking why the move was needed only prompted an irritated Virgil to snap at Alex that he ought to stay in a childs place. Alex would listen, only to leave unannounced in the night to hide away in an area he frequented a lot as a younger child. noon came, and he completely forgot to return home that night. He would hear the call of his father, afraid to come forth knowing the punishment he’d receive. It’s not until his mother goes looking for him, having realized the only place she hadn’t checked was the small hideout he hid as a child. She would find him, smirk, climb inside the tight space, and snicker as Virgil grew frustrated with them both. Without ever communicating, Alex was sure his mom hadn’t told because she understood how he felt about leaving. She too did not like the idea of leaving her life in Amsterdam behind. But, his father wanted the best education for his son to further his musical talent.

Reason for nickname: Father's first son kind of thing. He’s named after him and even has his fathers nickname. Not that Dennis isn’t honored, but he was very happy that Ines started calling him den den it made him feel like he was his own man. Of course, now that he’s a much older man he could care less, but growing up he always wanted an identity of his own.

He lived with him until he was sure that he would be okay. 

Most important childhood memory: ( TW; ABORTION MENTION ) Prom 1993 He would be taking his crush to prom. It took him months to think of how he’d convince her that he was the right choice. When she agreed Dennis couldn’t believe it. Unfortunately, when the night of prom began it proved that he was only able to take his crush because he was being use by her to make her ex jealous. Eventually, he’d get left spending prom alone, that is until one of his friends who also had a crush on him confessed their feelings. Shocked at first, Dennis would question why it took them so long to tell them, of course fear of rejection played a part on her not making a move. For the rest of Prom he would spend it with her. Things ended up getting heated and they’d lose their virginity to each other. Having been friends before hand it didn’t feel rushed, but soon, reality would kick in. She’d be packing up to study abroad and he’d had plans of his own after graduating. They spent the summer together, falling for each other more than they thought they would. Before she would be packing up to leave for good, she would find out that she’s pregnant, instead of telling him the truth she reveals that it was a pregnancy scare. They would break up, she’d go to have an abortion, but chickened out last minute. They tried to stay in touch, but eventually raising a baby and adjusting to a new country would keep them from communicating for years.

She began to feel that she wasn’t wanted because her her family knew their mother but Claire.

Most important childhood memory: Getting her period when she was 14. All the girls, so it seemed, were already sharing tampons and talking about pads meanwhile Claire figured she was the only girl without a period her freshmen year. When it finally came, she was excited, but immediately disappointed because the mother she wanted to tell had never been in her life to begin with.
