That's his *skull* you are seeing there. He's friendly. This was/is someone's pet. Most likely an abscess gone awful or from a predator biting at him.

So following on from the last post I reblogged, I thought this would be fun.

Let’s hear the best names of the animals you’ve seen at the vet practice.

We’ve all heard the urban legend that is Voldetort but there must be some new, equally as absurd ones out there...

I’ll start!

Metallicat (like Metallica... but make it cat)

Esio trot (tortoise, backwards, Roald Dahl)

David Hasselhop (a rabbit and a personal fave)

Cleocatra (cat, ancient Egypt+puns=incredible)

Ceefur (cat. As in... “C for Cat” but phonetically)

Maximus Decimus Meridius (a tiny Russian hamster)

There are definitely more that are slipping my mind but hopefully some of yours will jog my memory!

Also always love a pet with a human name. Got a tiny kitten called Dave? Love it, incredible, 10/10.

I had to sit around the corner while doing this Guinea pigs treatments because one of dogs does not like people she doesn't know and she was about to be taken out of her room.

do you ever just think about cats? like pets. like they’re so wild. they’re carnivorous predators who a few thousand years ago decided to self domesticate because it was useful to them to be around humans. they weren’t selectively bred like dogs, they just are straight up predators and hunters and i have one currently purring his head off as he pounces at my feet under the blankets, like, this is an animal. this is a creature interacting with me, a giant without fur and with weird limbs who makes noises all the time, and instead of going hey this is Bigger Predator Threat he’s going yes i can defeat these blanket lumps and get my tummy rubbed, like, you ever just think about pets

Freya is almost seven months old now and she had her first close encounter with another cat today. We were visiting my parents and their huge, placid male cat, Merlin. Merlin, who was unsure why this tiny cat a third his size was batting at him from under the furniture but he was sure she just wanted to play. Merlin, who watched as this spastic kitten simultaneously went "play" and "oh @#$% you are LORGE". Merlin, who almost got his head pounced on as she got her confidence back. A good catloaf.

What a truly excellent, magical cat is Merlin! :D

This sweet boy, and 4 others, were rescued by my vet friend and a client from a shelter where they had run out of time. Kitten season extra sucks because this wonderful young gentleman of a cat was doubtless overlooked because of his age.
