যখন আপনি একটি নতুন সার্ভার সেটাপ করবেন বা আপনার সার্ভারের অপারেটিং সিস্টেম রি-ইনস্টল করবেন তখন SSH সার্ভিসে কানেক্ট হবার জন্য আপনাকে পোর্ট ২২ ব্যাবহার করতে হবে কারণ পোর্ট ২২ SSH সার্ভিসের ডিফল্ট পোর্ট। যেহেতু SSH ব্যাবহার করে সার্ভারের রুট লেভেলে লগিন করা হয় এবং SSH এর ডিফল্ট পোর্ট সবাই জানে তাই এই পোর্টে অনেক বেশি ব্রুট ফোর্স অ্যাটাক হয়। একারণে বেশিরভাগ সার্ভারে নিরাপত্তার জন্য পোর্ট ২২ ক্লোজ করে অন্য একটি সিক্রেট পোর্টে SSH সার্ভিস কনফিগার করা হয়। আমি আমার অন্য একটি টিউটোরিয়ালে আলোচনা করবো কিভাবে আপনারা SSH সার্ভিস পোর্ট ২২ ছাড়া অন্য পোর্টে কনফিগার করবেন। এই টিউটোরিয়ালে আমরা শিখবো কিভাবে কাস্টম SSH পোর্টের মাধ্যমে লিনাক্স সার্ভারে কানেক্ট হতে হয়।

ধরুন আপনার সার্ভারে কোনো সমস্যা হয়েছে কিন্তু আপনি বর্তমানে আপনার কম্পিউটারের সামনে নেই এবং আপনাকে যত দ্রুত সম্ভব এটি ঠিক করতে হবে। আপনার যদি অ্যান্ড্রয়েড ফোন বা ট্যাব থাকে তাহলে Android OS এর জন্য ডেভেলপ করা SSH ক্লায়েন্ট বা অ্যাপ এই ধরনের ক্ষেত্রে লাইফ সেভার হিসেবে কাজ করবে।

আপনি যদি MacOS বা কোনো লিনাক্স ডিস্ট্রো ব্যবহারকারী হয়ে থাকেন তাহলে আপনার কম্পিউটার থেকে লিনাক্স সার্ভারে কানেক্ট হবার জন্য আপনাকে আলাদা করে কোনো সফটওয়্যার বা টুল ইন্সটল করতে হবে না কারণ সকল লিনাক্স ডিস্ট্রো এবং MacOS সংস্করণের সাথে টার্মিনাল অ্যাপ প্রি-ইন্সটলড থাকে। এই টিউটোরিয়ালে আমরা শিখবো কিভাবে ম্যাক বা লিনাক্স কম্পিউটার থেকে খুব সহজেই লিনাক্স সার্ভারে কানেক্ট হওয়া যায়।

SSH হল লোকাল নেটওয়ার্ক বা লোকাল নেটওয়ার্ক এর বাইরের কম্পিউটার বা সার্ভার অ্যাক্সেস করার জন্য একটি সুরক্ষিত নেটওয়ার্ক প্রোটোকল। যখনই আপনার সার্ভারে কিছু ইনস্টল করতে হবে বা ইনস্টল করা সফ্টওয়্যার বা সার্ভার কনফিগারেশন কাস্টমাইজ করতে হবে তখন আপনাকে SSH টার্মিনালে লগইন করে সেখান থেকে সার্ভার কনফিগারেশন আপডেট করতে হবে। যখন আপনি SSH এর মাধ্যমে একটি সার্ভারের সাথে কানেক্ট হবেন তখন আপনার কাছে কোন গ্রাফিকাল ইউজার ইন্টারফেস থাকবেনা, কমান্ড ইনপুট করার জন্য আপনার সামনে শুধুমাত্র একটি টার্মিনাল থাকবে।

SSH Key-Based Authentication is a method of connecting to the Linux server using pair of a public and private key. One of the keys will be stored into your local computer and another key will be stored into your remote Linux server. Whenever you will try to login to the server from your local computer or from another server using correct key pairs, the remote server will grant you access immediately without asking for password. That's why it's also called passwordless SSH athentication method.

SSH runs on port 22 by default. When you get a new VPS, Cloud or Dedicated Server, the SSH service should be listening to port 22. It's recommended to configure the SSH to listen to a secret port.
