i think... i might retire mirage for now. :( which is really startling for me to say, but i can’t envision myself coming back here anytime soon. maybe during the summer i’ll drop all my drafts and clean out my inbox and start anew with a clean slate, but right now i’m not happy on this dash and happier elsewhere.
if you want my discord, u can add me @ rio!#0298. we can have a discord server together since i still write mirage on discord!
i’m also on this blog over here right now! he has an apex verse!
i also have a twitter that i’m on / reachable by, lmk if you want to be mutuals there!

“  well, shit.  ” (crypto)
misc sentence starters.
well, that’s not what you want to hear when you’re caught in a corner with four teams all focused on them, for whatever reason. mirage stares at crypto, who is sat up against the wall, knees tucked to his chest, gripping his little fidget - remote - control thing. but there’s no screen in front of him, and as mirage checks his map, he realizes that their enemies are not lit up like they typically are whenever crypto’s in drone mode.
shit. they had destroyed hack. well, they have four teams focused on them, no ammo, and no idea where everyone is! lovely match, really.
“ have you ever thought of makin’ hack out of, like, stuff that won’t be destroyed? or get better at dodging bullets. or expand his range. ” he grits his teeth. “ i’ve got tons of ideas for you, crypt. ”

simulamortem:
Tumblr media
He stared patiently for the engineer. As if it were really any SURPRISE he might call Mirage anything in the skinbag’s own bar. A very slight tilt of his head, a dip that made the steady glow of his gaze just a little more DANGEROUS at Mirage’s word of warning.
But the simulacrum must have really wanted that drink, because he didn’t say anything, and neither did he reach across the counter to grab Mirage by the collar in a split second like he normally might have. It wasn’t until the other Legend’s mumbling that Revenant responded, “Think MY OLD FRIENDS at Hammond would build you a new tongue if I cut yours out?” As per usual it was very difficult to tell exactly how much or how little he might have been joking.
His gaze shifted then to regard the ingredients Mirage was pulling together. Red wine. Not a bad start. He might have preferred white wine once, but not anymore. He hoped the engineer KNEW BETTER than to make him sangria, though - too sweet. “Is this the one you have in mind for me?” He wondered if a drink based on him and a drink Mirage would serve him if he could actually drink it were the same thing.
mirage was busy for a moment as he considered the bottle of red wine he had picked up - rioja wine. yeah, he could probably toss that and some coca - cola together over some ice, add a bit of lemon and lime... bam. that worked, and minimal material wasting for the scary murder bot that couldn’t drink but was still demanding a drink. it was only then that he stopped tuning out revenant’s grating voice and came back to the lovely message of hammond building a new tongue.
“ uh. i’d prefer to stay not? tongueless, so let’s, uh - ” an awkward laugh. “ i don’t think they’d be too interested in that, so let’s not try it. ” right. he forgot the most important part of working any type of job that interacts with customers: the customer was always right. and you didn’t backtalk to the customs in case they threaten to cut your tongue out.
“ well! there is a thing called the revenant, so you’re in luck, although i might make some alterat-alterate - ” he worked his jaw. “ alterations. but hey, i was also thinking just having straight vodka with an espresso shot. sums you up pretty well! ” was he joking? maybe.

voltaage:

The closeness of the embrace helped calm Natalie down, giving her something to ground herself to rather than be whisked away by the turbulence of her buried despair. The fabric of his clothing under her digits, the way his chest expanded slightly with a breath– if she focused on those things then it wouldn’t feel as if she was drowning in a sea she had partially created.      The smaller legend didn’t respond at first, soaking up the others softer tone as she inhaled and exhaled a few times, clearly collecting herself. She could not be fumbling over her words like done in her initial attempt to address him; she needed some clarity. “You don’t…” Natalie started, her voice quiet and mumbled in Elliott’s shoulder, still not having moved out of the reassuring embrace. “…Need to do anything like that for me.”
he knew what it felt like to lose family.
that was exactly why mirage let wattson just... stay there, in his arms. he could feel her breathing, the bumps and hiccups here and there for the breaths that got caught in her throat. especially then, it struck mirage how young wattson was when she lost her father, the only person she had her in life - eighteen. eighteen, and she had... probably found his body, too. yikes.
her words were muffled into his shoulder, but he got the gist of them, especially with how close her head was to his ear. he hugged her tighter. “ hey, pizza, a tub of icecream, and puttin’ on some comfort movie is always how i got through those bad days. i get it. or if you just... wanna stay in a hug, that’s fine by me too. never could go wrong with a hug. ”
a beat. mirage raised his eyes to the ceiling. “ family loss is... just a lot. i’ve been there. so... do whatever you have to. ”
