meetra leaned up & kissed ahsoka lightly on the cheek, giving her a flicker of a small smile. “hello, love. you look tired.” to be fair, she knew that she did, too. they were all under a lot of pressure, with everything that was going on — but ahsoka was the councilmember with the order on her shoulders. meetra was proud of her.
she’s not sure she’s ever going to get over the incredibly sweet, soft moments with meetra. even something as simple as the other pressing a kiss to her cheek like this makes ahsoka feel like her feet are hovering a bit off the ground. “it’s been a long few rotations.” she answers honestly, knowing better than to lie to meetra. it’s not how they work, even before they took this step ahsoka couldn’t bring herself to lie to them. “the others insisted i take some time, but i’m not sure what your next two days look like...?”

“Yeah. …Yeah,”  Zeb repeats. He respects the hell out of Ahsoka—rebel, Jedi, Fulcrum. She’s one of the few people who have jumped forward like Zeb has. They’ve both missed years of their lives that they don’t remember living.  “Weird, though. Right? Seeing the change without actually doing anything. Hell of a shortcut. Heh.”  Their shoulders sink even as they shrug it off with a subdued chuckle.  “Karabast, must be something to see the Jedi back after… everything.”
ahsoka can’t help but laugh at the comment, nodding her head. “in a way, definitely. though.. it’s nice to see all the work we put in wasn’t for nothing, right?” she offers with a smile, hoping it gives zeb some sort of comfort with the situation. she knows it had for her. “it’s something else. there’s.. so many people here i was so sure i’d never see again. it’s encouraging, even if - a little bit of a surprise. now we just need to make sure we fold the.. old into the new, that we don’t make the same mistakes we had before.”

lips pursed together for a brief moment, inhaling deeply through her nose. there was something unsettling about being invested in the well-being of so many others again. it felt much easier to excuse with the younglings than it did with ahsoka. “it wasn’t a big deal.” that was a lie and they both knew it. what had happened there was unlike anything that they had ever been through and she would have been happy to never deal with anything like that again. she never wanted to feel as blinded as she had in that moment. “you don’t need to worry about planning a visit. we’re perfectly fine out here, and i’m sure you have more pressing concerns in that part of the galaxy,” they responded. “i assume the council is investigating what happened.”
ahsoka can sense the lie. as much as she knows she has a lot to learn about trilla and who they’ve become, she can tell the other isn’t being honest. but.. she’s not going to push it, either. she needs to be comfortable with the idea that trilla has people she can, and will, trust when she needs to - and that, so long as ahsoka’s around and continues to support them wherever she can, trilla will hopefully allow her to be one of those people when she needs it. “so long as you’re alright.” she answers simply, okay not to push things too much for now. letting out a soft sigh, ahsoka nods her head at what was a question without being a question. “we are. we’re trying to uncover what we can about these beings, but it’s going to take some time. they seem to have.. kept themselves hidden for some time now.” pausing, ahsoka watches the other carefully. “i know i don’t need to, but the safety of you and the younglings is important as well. i want to make sure you all have what you need for a while.”

Jocasta wanted to get an understanding of where her fellow Council members stood on everything going on, if their own research had been anymore fruitful then her own, and now with this most recent attack, if they knew anything at all about these…..Yuuzhan Vong. Approaching Ahsoka, Jocasta smiled, she still remembered when the other was a young padawan, helping her in the archives, or when she introduced her to Master Sinube after she had lost her lightsaber.
“Master Tano, so good to see you. I have no doubt you have heard about comms going down across the galaxy. Now that we know what these…..beings are called, perhaps our research into them can become more fruitful. How have you been over all of this, though? I know it can be easy to get lost in work, and to stop checking in on oneself.”

ahsoka’s still not used to being called that. master. it still doesn’t quite feel like she’s earned the title, after so many years of distance from even being a jedi. but as time goes on, ahsoka finds herself adjusting, bit by bit. and fortunately the other masters have been an incredible support. though she can’t deny, watching jocasta of all people approach, ahsoka feels very much like the young, fresh padawan who had been sent to help guard the jedi archives.
“and you, master.” she says with a smile, but it doesn’t last long given the topic of conversation. they don’t really have time to waste, though. the sooner they can get to the bottom of these beings the better - for everyone. “i agree, the sooner we can uncover more information about them - and how best to stop them - the better.” pausing, ahsoka considers the question, her shoulders relaxing a little as she does. “i’m.. alright. thank you. i - spent so much time working to gain intelligence and uncover mysteries like this during the empire’s reign, this isn’t all that out of the ordinary for me. and.. you? are you alright?”

ZOE KRAVITZ // have you met AHSOKA TANO yet? SHE is a THIRTY FIVE year old CISFEMALE TOGRUTA. they’re originally from SHILI and now show loyalty to THE NEW REPUBLIC. they are best known for being an ADVISOR, and i hear they’re pretty RESILIENT yet also SELF SACRIFICING at times; i hope they survive the galactic civil war.
L O A D I N G : // …  8ABY : MONTH TWO … //
since the timeskip, ahsoka’s had.. a lot to think about. confronted with the ever growing jedi order, the need to protect them from constant threats, and the younglings who needed protection from the dark side and the sith who just seemed determine to hang onto life, she found herself drawn back to the order over and over
her connection to meetra surik only grew stronger and, in the face of what happened to padmé amidala and the startling realisation that none of them really have time to waste, she found herself caught in a whirlwind of admitting her feelings - which they, to ahsoka’s surprise, reciprocated.
between obi-wan and meetra, ahsoka found herself acting on her pull to the jedi order and, while hesitant at first, she finally returned to the order and agreed to take on the role of a jedi once more
serving the order wasn’t all that different to how it had been before rejoining, officially. she worked heavily with cal and the others to protect the younglings as well as helping to rebuild the order, ahsoka was eventually - much to her extreme surprise - chosen to be part of the jedi council. an honour she never expected, and she’s still not sure she’s truly earned it, but she couldn’t refute the votes of the other jedi
the attack at the consortium and the subsequent attacks have her concerned to say the least, and between protecting the order and trying to find an effective way to combat the vong, ahsoka has her hands full at the moment.

offering the lasat a smile, ahsoka nods her head gently in agreement. not necessarily with the hope - but an understanding at least, of what zeb’s feeling. “i can imagine. i remember when i first appeared here, it was.. a shock. to be out of time, to see how things had changed.” pausing, ahsoka pats zeb’s shoulder gently. “but your family are here, and - at least you can see the result of all the time and the work you and the rest of the crew. that’s something, isn’t it?”

an easy chuckle escaped at her words, offering a shrug of his shoulder. he wasn’t quite the same as the last time that he had seen ahsoka –– losing his vision had changed him in many ways, but in retrospect, it had been for the better. it had deepened his connection with the force, pushed him into having a greater insight of both himself and everything around him at stake. it had matured him, made him a better master to ezra.
“so you’re doing the work of one without… being one.” it was clear in his tone that it didn’t exactly make sense to him. “it was a different galaxy, a different order back then. there aren’t many people like us in it.” there simply had been exceptionally few who survived the destruction of the order, an even smaller number that had done so without succumbing to the dark side. he knew that ahsoka wasn’t much older than he was, but he had still viewed her as wiser. given their different demeanors at the time, it made sense. “if you don’t want to, then that’s your choice. but i think you’re wrong to say that you can’t.”
she knows where kanan is going with this. the same way obi-wan constantly goes, the same way meetra hints from time to time, the same way cal says without reservation. but it’s not as simple as everyone believes - though, she knows meetra understands. ahsoka.. needs to be sure. not only for herself, but for the order. that she would even be able to help them become what they need to be in this version of the galaxy.
“you know you’re not all that subtle, right?” she points out, her tone turning a little lighter. it’s not that kanan’s wrong - ahsoka’s investing a lot of time into something that she.. technically has no official responsibility to. but she has a moral responsibility, whether she likes it or not. “it doesn’t make a difference for the order. the work i’m doing.. it’d be the same either way. the order itself should be comprised of jedi.” something ahsoka has very much not called herself in a long time.

trilla sat in the cockpit of their ship, several kilometers away from where the younglings were being kept. whatever had happened at the hapes consortium… a part of her wanted nothing to do with it, to stay away with cal and the younglings without any involvement. but staying away from the knowledge of what was going on would help no one. they were relieved when ahsoka appeared on the holo in front of her, leaning back in her seat. “i’m glad to see you’re alive. i know the death toll was high.” there’s no time to think about eighth, despite the temptation.
it wasn’t a short list, those ahsoka wanted to check in on after what had happened. she knows the attack had impacted - too many people to count, there was too much to do, too much to try and settle and she needs to make sure she coordinates all of this with the council and figure out next steps for the order and - when trilla appears on the holo, ahsoka can’t help but smile, setting those thoughts aside. “same goes for you, trilla. i heard what happened to your prosthetic, i’m glad you were able to get to safety.” she says warmly. “how are you doing? do you and cal have what you need? i’m - sorry i haven’t been able to make it out to you yet. i’m planning a visit soon.”

over two decades later, asajj ventress could still recognize ahsoka tano on sight. she’d practically watched the togruta grow up during the clone wars ( having frequently attacked their master & grandmaster ), and although the other had certainly aged, they would still know that face anywhere, just as she had memorized the other faces of the jedi she’d faced, & those who had wronged her ( which numbered many ).
“padawan,” the nightsister calls, drawling in her direction. slender, worn fingers draw back their hood, a far too familiar interested - not dangerously so, just curious ( for now ) - smirk poised upon her lips. “look at you now. hardly a trace of the wronged little jedi i left you as.”
starter for @inspiringgreatness with the former jedi padawan ahsoka tano.
as much as ahsoka wants to be annoyed at the other’s comment, they’re not wrong. the years have changed her. and so much has changed, not just ashoka - it’s much bigger than that, bigger than her. though.. she wonders, curiously, what that means for ventress. the once-enemy-turned-ally.. where will she land now?
“time changes us all, it seems.” she points out with an amused sort of laugh. at least she knows ventress remembers that piece of their past. the harshest test in ahsoka’s life. strange, even now, to think that.. of all the people who would’ve come to her aid in such a time, it was asajj. though.. that doesn’t mean she’ll do the same now. “how long ago was that, for you? how much time has passed?”

a small smile tugs at the corner of his lips when she says she doesn’t need to go. ever since he woke up on geonosis in this new time, obi-wan has never expected a conversation to be easy. specially since there’s so much he has yet to learn about, but every time it just seems like all there is is heartbreak, infinite sadness. and he just hopes this conversation would have a glimmer of hope at the end of the pain he is sure will cause both of them. it is not easy to talk about the actions of the person they both loved, a person obi-wan is certain both feel like they could not help. in different ways they both feel like they failed anakin, and it is in those grounds that he hopes ahsoka would see them as equals. she is after all older than him now, and has lived through things that obi-wan is sure would break him. and yet he knows the part of her that gave him that answer.
❝but it is that simple ahsoka❞ obi-wan says in a calm voice, a stillness he had not felt in this new terrifying reality, but this is ahsoka, the best and brightest of her generation, ❝tell me, what is a jedi?❞ he asks rising an eyebrow, ❝a protector❞ he says with as much confidence as someone who lost a padawan to the dark side could muster, ❝at the end of the day, take the politics away, we are not soldiers… that’s not what we were meant to do❞ a part of him wishes he could have done more than just be a memory in a holocron for those in the run, ❝guardians of peace and justice, strip away the fancy titles, and a jedi is someone who protects those who cannot protect themselves❞ he finished matter of factly, ❝is that not what you did? so it is that simple, and every force sensitive out there who wishes to join us should be able to, they earned their place far better than many who came before them❞ he said pointing towards him, ❝i just learned that i hid in a cave for two decades while the empire slaughtered the surviving jedi, hunted any force sensitive out there, how could i call myself a jedi after that?❞
for someone who was a padawan through the clone wars, who was a padawan to one of the greatest jedi general the clone wars had seen, to.. someone who had, really, been forged in war, the shift to a different kind of life hadn’t been an easy one for ahsoka. hiding, running, constantly knowing too much attention would get her trapped and killed - or worse, given what had happened to others, tortured into inquisitors, forced to work for the empire. ahsoka had needed time and.. opportunity to help people, to really help and protect people to understand what her life was supposed to be. what it might have been able to be before, had the clone wars never happened. it had taken her even more time to get used to that, to combine that with her choice to work with bail and the resistance. but it all seemed.. normal, it all made sense. she never really thought about it, never had to - not until now.
“i never.. thought of it that way.. it was never - out of obligation, or out of what a jedi was supposed to be, in hopes that i might become that again. it was only ever.. what i needed. what felt right, for me. after the empire rose, i - didn’t feel as though i had a path to follow until i found a way to help people.” on that ship she’d essentially stolen - borrowed, borrowed, not stolen - after the mess on raada, following a distress signal she had no business following - except she hadn’t been able to ignore it, in the end. it was that which gave her a new direction, a.. reminder, of who she wanted to be. the teachings instilled so deep in her, even after the order had been destroyed. but - can that really be enough? to return to a life she’d willingly walked away from? “you.. had reasons, i’m sure. you wouldn’t do something like that without cause, obi-wan. of that i’m sure, at least.” letting out a sigh, ahsoka offers obi-wan a sad sort of smile. “i never - did anything i did with the hope that it would lead me back to the order. to.. come back, after all this time - i’m.. not sure, if i’m being honest.”

a weak smile twitched in the corners of her mouth for a moment. padmé knew that in a sense, that was true –– the jedi were not the type to blame for such a thing, not someone outside of the order, at least. sometimes she’d thought their treatment of those outside of the order was more compassionate than its members. but still, a sense of guilt lingered. some kind of blame. maybe she shouldn’t have known in the first place. it seemed like it would have been better for them had she not.
“well, we’ve always been the type to keep busy,” she remarked with a soft smile, not quite realizing the seriousness of what precisely was on ahsoka’s mind. she might’ve been able to pick up on it, under normal circumstances, but much of her use empathetic energy was drained. she wanted to still maintain it, even now, but it was easier said than done.
but her heart threatened to stop at ahsoka’s next words. i found anakin. throat all but closed, a weight on her chest spurring a new wave of physical pain. lips parted to try and say something, yet no sound escaped at first. a few long moments of painful silence pass before padmé could will something to emerge, “where did you find him?” she asked, barely able to keep her voice from cracking. “was he… himself, or vader?”
she knew it wouldn’t be easy news to hear. not in padmé’s current state, and not with how things have been lately. but she needs to hear it, she needs to know what’s going on. with anakin having resurfaced, with him... back, here, able to be found and - padmé needs to be ready for what that could mean. for what she could be forced to face, soon enough.
“hosnian prime. i.. didn’t realise it was him, until i saw him with my own eyes.” ahsoka admits quietly, gazed locked on padmé. she can see the pain in the smallest signs in her expression, around her eyes, the downturn of her lips, the tone in her voice, and she hates to be the one to make padmé feel that way. especially when she needs rest. considering the question for a moment, ahsoka lets out a sigh, leaning back in her chair and shaking her head. “neither. or.. both, i’m not sure. he wasn’t.. the anakin we knew, before - everything. but he wasn’t quite vader, either. and he certainly wasn’t the vader i’d met, before the rift..” in spite of everything, there’s the slightest glimmer of hope in ahsoka’s voice. that maybe he can still come back to them, somehow.

although it was perhaps naive, padmé hoped that she would be able to see more of ahsoka like this. happy. opportunities like this were few and far between. bringing the hapes consortium was still a somewhat precarious balance, but the queen mother had agreed and allowed them all here, even those who historically had a poor relationship with them. hopefully having members of the council like ahsoka here would be a strong sign of good faith. “oh, sure. it’s nearly the same as any other event like this, albeit on a more exciting night of the year.” a slight non-answer, but she doesn’t linger on it. “i have to admit, i’m a bit appalled by some of the items they’ve put on display. it’s thousands of years old, but one of the headdresses is nabooian. a mourning one. the lightsabers are…” her head shook in disapproval, looking to ahsoka.
it’s a little strange, for one of her first major events as a member of the council to be something like this. it’s such a tenuous alliance, hangs by a thread for so many reasons with hapes. there’s so much they need to be mindful of here, and yet.. ahsoka doesn’t feel as if she’s over her head. not exactly what she’s used to, but not over her head. “you have more experience with things like this than me, so i’ll have to take your word for it.” she says with a soft laugh, but she does notice padmé hasn’t actually answered the question. still, she doesn’t push it for now. her smile fades a little at padmé’s words, glancing around at some of the displays. “it’s.. not ideal, no. if it wasn’t such a difficult alliance to try and secure..” letting out a sigh, ahsoka’s gaze moves from the lightsabers back to padmé. “i.. want to keep looking forward rather than back to history, but it’s not always easy.”

“i hear that congratulations are in order, master tano.” padmé couldn’t hide the beaming smile that warmly curled onto her lips. she’d been very pleased to hear the news –– not just because of the recognition that ahsoka must have been getting from others, but the fact that she was finally giving it to herself, too. that was something that had always concerned her much more. “you look beautiful, by the way.”
ahsoka can’t help the somewhat sheepish, still a little awkward smile that appears on her face at padmé’s words. it’s still a little surreal to imagine - she hasn’t been part of the order again for that long yet, and after everything to be elected a part of the council by a majority, it definitely wasn’t something she expected. “thank you.” she responds simply, rather than letting herself overflow into a thousand reasons it’s not deserved. both padmé and meetra would tell her to allow herself these things, to accept that she’s earned more than she believes she has. so.. she’s trying to do so, instead. letting out a soft laugh, ahsoka glances down at the elegant pantsuit with a simple but beautiful embroidered pattern. “well, you chose most of my social wardrobe, so that doesn’t come as much of a surprise. are you enjoying the evening?”

there had been so much to catch up on, after coming back –– not only in the seven years that had passed since his own death, the way that the war had progressed and eventually ended, but with those that he cared about. ahsoka may not have been a permanent fixture of ghost crew, but she was someone that he respected and cared about immensely. yet he didn’t know what exactly had happened to her, after. he assumed that she died on malachor.
corner of his mouth just lifted when he felt her hand against his shoulder, offering a nod of his head. “it’s been… easier than expected,” kanan answered honestly. “i never thought i’d see the order begin to recover, not in the way that it has.” in small ways, like his training ezra, but never something formal and organized like what was occurring on yavin 4. “though i’ve heard you aren’t exactly a part of it?”
the result of the emperor’s rift hasn’t been easy for some people to adjust to. for ahsoka, uncertainty and sudden changes weren’t all that foreign for her so it wasn’t too difficult to adjust - but she hadn’t had such a big displacement, and for kanan... well, she can’t imagine it’s been easy, to face all those he loves after they’d watched him die. she’s just glad he seems to be handling things well.
“i’m glad. i was worried your stubbornness would get the better of you.” she jokes with a soft laugh. the togruta can understand where he’s coming from, though. after everything the survivors of order 66 have been through, to see the order beginning to reform.. it’s something else, really. but of course, it comes with the predictable question - one ahsoka’s had multiple times, from multiple people, as of late. “not.. officially, no. i’m not a jedi, kanan. i - assist, and support the order and how it’s beginning to take shape, but i can’t really claim a place there when i made the choice to walk away from the order back then..”

fearlessskywalker:
anakin withheld a wince before shouldering his way through the crowd and descending some stairs into the local dive. the smell of death sticks, hookah, and stale alcohol filled the air. some type of heavy bass filled rodian song. he might not speak the the language himself but he could recognize enough of it to know it was dirty and made to get beings p and moving.
nodding at a server he summoned a set of local brew. “not the best location to talk I know. however, we won’t be questioned, few are in places such as this.” swallowing down the chilled liquid before putting the bottle down with a thud lost in the music. his eyes met hers and anakin knew the storm laying within was complicated and layered as if it was the surface of kamino. finally prying his eyes away from hers when the stare became too painful he locked eyes on his hand. his other one stayed under the table flexing and relaxing in his anxiety over this. “starting where?” anakin would use this as practice for when he talked to padme because he would talk to her. eventually.
as her former, fallen master moves through the crowd ahsoka follows closely, not wanting to lose track of him. she watches closely, senses sharp as they make their way into some dive, resisting the urge to wrinkle her nose at the smell of all the things she would prefer to avoid. it’s not the first time they’ve found themselves in a place like this. back when ahsoka was a padawan, when anakin was a famed jedi general leading the war efforts on all fronts - how many places like this had they investigated together? ahsoka still remembers so vividly coming into a place like this with anakin after.. after they believed obi-wan had been killed. anakin filled with rage and sorrow, determined to avenge his master - and ahsoka by his side, as always. where she needed to be. where she’d belonged, for a long time.
the question that has haunted her since sensing vader’s true presence floats to the surface of her mind, but she quells it just as quickly. now isn’t the time for her regret. there are more important things to focus on, right now, than ahsoka’s conflict.
there always are.
it’s a good question, really. where to start? ahsoka’s wondered how she would handle this encounter, if it would ever come to pass. wondered how she would confront her master. and there’s so much she hopes to understand, to learn where it all went wrong, to understand the journey he’s been on - if she can help him find the right path, now. but - again, bigger priorities. “you disappeared.” she begins, hand settled around the bottle she doesn’t plan to touch. “why? what have these past two years held for you, anakin?” can i rely on you, or are you still on the wrong side? she needs to know. ahsoka needs to be certain before asking for his help with this. because if he’s still... corrupted in some way and he’s able to help her find padmé, there’s no knowing what will come for any of them. “where have you been?”
