Bobby giving Eddie the Bible really bothered me if I’m being entirely honest. I love Bobby, I really really do, but he fundamentally misunderstands Eddie to the point where I think he’s projecting onto him. They’re very similar in a lot of ways - men who grew up religious who lost a wife to death and have a lot of guilt about their pasts. But Eddie has stated time and time again that he is not a religious person, in fact the only times he mentions religion is when he points out he and Shannon got married because of the pressure from their families and the church and when he found out his new girlfriend was a nun and the image bothers him so much he no longer wants to have sex with her. That doesn’t sound like a man who is just itching to get back to church. Bobby understands everyone else so well but because he sees himself in Eddie in such a specific way he is actively ignoring the ways in which they are incredibly different.
