when i was a kid i had terrible insomnia (still do) and sometimes i'd go into my parent's room to tell them i couldn't sleep, except for some reason i was too anxious to properly wake them up, so i would just stand motionless next to my dad's side of the bed until he inevitably did wake up because he's a very light sleeper. he would open his eyes and see me standing silently like a ghost staring straight at him from less than a foot away, immediately scaring the shit out of him. i did this many, many times
