me: Obviously there’s a lot of air to clear between Reaper and 76 and the men they were before and are now and it’s really a complex, layered story to play out how a reunion and reconciliation between them would go—
Also me: REUNION KISS DO IT KISS NOW KISS KISS KISS KISS!!!!

So I haven’t seen anyone talking about this line in particular. I find it very interesting and, maybe I’m reading too much into it, but this screams Sombra is playing both sides to me.

Also, talking about Michael Chu. Please for the love of everything, stop and collate all your random lore bits in a single place instead of tweeting and shit. Its a terrible way to disseminate canon information.
It would help avoid so many arguments if the stuff wasn’t so stupid to find.

About Dragons
So I was watching the Dragons short again, cause I am working on a big post about Hanzo Shimada that is based in canon and I wanted to smack myself for being stupid and missing something obvious for so long.
The events unfolding between Hanzo and Genji are accompanied by a narrator telling the story of the dragons of the north and south wind, creating a parallel structure between two similar stories. The narrator is not just a random voice over because the narration starts with this.
“My family tells of an ancient legend…”
So, in context, that means that the narrator is a Shimada. The voice also clearly belongs to neither Genji nor Hanzo, so then who is it?
The answer is actually rather obvious for two reasons, one is thematic, the other practical. The practical answer is because there is only one other named Shimada in Overwatch’s lore. The thematic answer is revealed when Hanzo says “Life is not like the stories our father told us…”
The narrator is heavily implied to be Sojiro, their father. This makes a lot of sense thematically with the rest of the information that we have about the Shimada family.
A bit of lore that people often forget/ignore is that Genji’s bio has this line that describes their father.
Many within the clan considered the carefree Genji to be a dangerous liability, and they resented his father for coddling and protecting him.
This is the most amount of direct characterization we get about the man, that he actively defended Genji, despite how he acted. This, in conjunction with the story he narrates over the Dragons short, paints the picture of a man who valued family above all else. Someone who would grieve the tragedy that had befallen his sons. The story he tells, however, shows his hope that they might reconcile and their family can be whole once more. (Quite the contrast to the normal fanon interpretation of him treating Genji poorly in particular.)
This actually makes the fact that Hanzo ultimately killed Genji even more tragic, as it likely happened despite what his father wanted and taught him about family. In the end, he listened to the wrong people.

I literally had a post about this months ago, it was the only person who made sense.
IT’S BEEN ALMOST A MONTH AND A HALF SINCE CHU POSTED IT-
I’M ACTUALLY ON THE FORUMS FOR ONCE-
I KNOW WE LOVED TO THEORIZE IT-
HOW COME NO ONE TOLD ME THAT CHU HAS FINALLY CONFIRMED THAT SOJIRO DOES IN FACT NARRATE DRAGONS

Good morning! I’m salty.
I think we, as a general community, need to start taking this little moment more seriously.
This, right here? This is asking for consent. It’s a legal necessity, yes, but it is also you, the reader, actively consenting to see adult content; and in doing so, saying that you are of an age to see it, and that you’re emotionally capable of handling it.
You find the content you find behind this warning disgusting, horrifying, upsetting, triggering? You consented. You said you could handle it, and you were able to back out at any time. You take responsibility for yourself when you click through this, and so long as the creator used warnings and tags correctly, you bear full responsibility for its impact on you.
“Children are going to lie about their age” is probably true, but that’s the problem of them and the people who are responsible for them, not the people that they lie to.
If you’re not prepared to see adult content, created by and for adults, don’t fucking click through this. And if you do, for all that’s holy, don’t blame anyone else for it.
