I had been feeling mildly down about the fact that I've had so much time off of work, but have barely been able to do anything or really even enjoy much of the resting, because, you know, cancer treatments and their side-effects - but, it appears that I'm going to get the whole summer off to recuperate and execute a post-cancer glow-up before heading back, so yay! I'll still be adjusting to some medications during that period, but once my terrifying burns heal up, I can actually relish the sleeping in, showering without anxiety, cooking and baking much more, creating an exercise plan, and lots and lots of lightweight witchcraft! Exciting!

These are three of the five pieces I will have ready by April 27th at noon for what I'm calling the "Everything Went Wrong" update.

Not only has something gone wrong with every single piece so far, in the past week: 1) My phone's camera broke while trying to do a side job that requires a camera, 2) The new phone I ordered online to replace it was stolen, most likely by the delivery guy, 3) The rest of my phone then broke the day before I went camping, 4) The replacement phone I got afterward was over $900, 5) My credit card got stolen off a parking garage skimmer, 6) One of my clothing racks collapsed in my closet. 7) All this happened during my busiest work week to date. This sounds like a convoluted sob story to get sympathy on the internet, and man I wish it was. It has simply been A LOT.

This is wayyy too relatable. It makes for a lot of funny divination moments, though. I've been pulling everything from cards that literally say "take a break" or just a motherly "no" over and over again, to receiving cards from other readers that say "cancer battle, (you dummy, lol)" and having my deities begin to participate in in-jokes about me (like putting "Water Fountain" in a shufflemancy list). My absolute favourite spirit friends move, though, which has been coming through for both myself and my sister, is one card I have that just says "Unlikely." I feel like it's even more exasperated than the "no" card. If I try to ask about any working, especially if I dare ask whether I should do something, it's always this card leaping out from the deck. Like, "pffffff, unlikely. Take another nap, you dumb-ass (affectionately)."

me: I need to do more spells to get better at witchcraft but I'm so tired all the time :(

My impulse grocery purchases on a Friday morning, which were definitely not a part of this week's menu, after hanging out with too many love goddesses lately:

1. good-quality havarti cheese

2. a bottle of sparkling cranberry-apple juice, wrapped with gold foil, to share with friends tomorrow

3. a bottle of sparkling pear-apple juice, for the same purpose

4. honeydew melon slices

5. strawberries

6. extra bricks of cream cheese for baking

7. almost heart-shaped chocolate Cheerios, too, but we had regular chocolate Cheerios at home

8. coconut oil

9. maple-flavoured creamer

This is especially funny when you're living in Quebec, in Canada: all of the most common swearing is Catholic! All of the thoroughly non-religious agnostics I know are constantly saying what is basically "tabernacle" and "sacristy" in French. And I feel like I'm eventually going to accidentally adopt this new habit by proximity, adding yet another layer on top of my insincere "oh my god."

We may not have a place to put our belongings when arriving in our new house that we just drove halfway across the country (with five pets and a U-haul) to get to. The seller is being unreasonable (due to shitty advice that her agent gave her, I guess; fuck these people) and will not let us store our things in their home, despite the fact that the closing date was pushed from Friday to Monday due to someone else fucking up. This is out of our hands, and we really fucking need help, so if you can and are willing, please pray; that's all I ask. It's ok if you don't want to, though, obviously; do what you're comfortable with.
